I just got around to watching this one last night, who else has seen it?

This was the 3rd Valero fight I have seen and I have to say I was massively impressed. I was not a believer before that fight. To me he was just a one-dimensional banger with no real skills or defence. Wow did he prove me wrong. He has speed, he has power, he has endurance, he has skills, he is smart and he throws fantastic combinations. Incredible performance against a highly skilled guy.

So, can anyone at 135 beat Valero? I have serious doubts.

Dan, why don't you just put this in the NSB?

The Aussie forum is a lost cause, always dead and hardly no one ever on it.

You're like the only one who keeps it alive.

It was a great performance by Valero, but not a very good showing by Demarco. If you put a fighter like Valero in with someone as demure as Demarco was that night, of course he will look a million dollars. Demarco's reluctance to throw back - especially after that horrific gash opened in the second - made Valero look supernaturally great. After fighting through a wound like that there's certainly no questioning his toughness or his determination.

Valero in with Marquez or the Pacman is potentially one of the great fire fights to be made in this era. Let's hope it gets done this year.

I think it could be a 1 or 2 fights early to throw Valero in with pac.

The lightweight division needs a bit of a shakeup I reckon. There's too many unknowns floating around in the top 10. We might get a bit of clarification in the next few months.

I think Valero and Marquez both move up a division to 140. That leaves quite a bit of space at the top. Of the rest, Ali Funeka is probably the best with Kevin Mitchell being the dark horse.

Scheduled fights at 135 coming up:

Humberto Soto v David Diaz
Funeka rematching Guzman
Katsidis v Mitchell (or Juan Diaz)

If Valero and Marquez both move to 140, gee there will be some good fights to be made there.

I go for quality over quantity.

Generally speaking I think the few guys we do have who post in here are not morons. The same cannot be said for the NSB crowd.

I post this thread in NSB and I would get multiple one-line answers from nuthuggers/haters/otherwise moronic cunts with basically no useful input.

I barely post in NSB these days. I will go in there and read **** and look for posts from guys I know that are good like Warp and JAB, but I barely post in there. Whenever I do its typically to tell some idiot that he is wrong.

We need to keep the Aussie forum going. Its not just me either, there are a few of us who post regularly enough in here, although it would be good if the likes of brently and mg upped their game.

the problem is there aren't enough aussie members on this site that would lead to lots of threads being made.

I just hadn't seen much that I liked in Valero up to that point. Before the DeMarco fight I saw Valero as a one-dimensional bum-beater, but he clearly is a lot better than that.

Ok, so I just sat down and watched the fight.

Valero looked very, very good. It was the first time I had actually watched him at work. Previously I had just seen a few highlight clips and knockout reels on youtube.

During the fight I was thinking "Wow, this guy is slicker than i thought". His defense was not as bad as some people were saying either. He was very evasive, slipping punches well with great head movement.

I loved the way he kept setting up his power punches with his jab too. Demarco just didn't have an answer and was systematically broken down. Valero showed great handspeed and could certainly throw punches in bunches.

Although he kept his perfect knockout ratio, I couldn't help but think his power is a little overrated. Demarco didn't look in huge trouble at any point, rather just quitting from the effects of cumulative punishment.

I'm now officially a fan, can't wait to see him fight some more good competition.

I failed to see anything special from Demarco though...I don't thing he is an elite fighter

Obviously he came up short on this occasion and looked a bit out of his depth. However, I still think he has potential. He looked great in a couple of fights last year against Alfaro and Kid Diamond.

I agree, he still looked tidy IMO. He was just in there against a guy in another class.

Nah mate I didn't. Who fought there? I know they have fights there from time to time. I've never actually been to one there though.

I used to think Valero was just a puncher but this fight proved me wrong.. he showed so many things that was until now left unanswered.. he can box he's got some speed, stamina doesn't seem to be an issue and fighting through that huge ass cut you can't question hes heart either..

He really made DeMarco look like a lost and scared little boy in the ring that night, he's just an animal man and I just can't wait to see him in there with the likes of a Marquez or even soto..
