The Pretender 05-15-2005, 01:35 PM Skully had a point about why he likes Wright. That fans may like the Castillo-Corrales fight more than a "boring" fight like Wright-Trinidad, but he can watch the Wright match all day because thats the boxing he likes to see. Wright uses jabs all night to win by forcing the other fighter to fight by his rules.
Well the same can be said about Ruiz fights. The fans may like watching Castillo-Corrales fights more than Ruiz fights, but I can watch Ruiz fights all day because of Ruiz makes his opponents fight by his rules. Ruiz mastered his fight style in a way Holyfield only wishes he could against Tyson, using clinches tactically.
If anything the Wright-Trinidad fight proved that Ruiz fights are far more exciting than having a guy jab all night to the point he shuts out the other fighter every round on points. Certainly not entertaining in my view. And now we know for sure that Ruiz is PR greatest champ because Tito been exposed as one-dimensional fighter.
SuckaPunch 05-15-2005, 01:41 PM Very smart thread The Pretender, at least, your posts about Ruiz won't be scattered all around boxingscene anymore.
The Pretender 4 President!
SacTown1 05-15-2005, 01:43 PM Ruiz is a waste of flesh
this thread is a waste of time
{BrownBomber} 05-15-2005, 01:45 PM Finally someone makes a good thread.
Im gonna be in this one all day! :)
thx pretender.
Ill start by saying Ruiz is the most best fighter ever!
Only a guy on steriods could beat his ass.
Ruiz has beat everyone in the hw division except the klitckos sooo dont hate and chris byrd.
as214 05-15-2005, 01:53 PM I like Ruiz because he gets the most out of his ability!! I like Ruiz because he is Puerto Rican but doesnt act Puerto Rican ..in other words he has class and is a nice guy ( BBWWAAHHH Go ahead flame away).. I like Ruiz because he never makes excuses and doesn't bad mouth or belittle his opponents. John Ruiz is an example of how anyone with average ability with hard work and a little intelligence can accomplish anything!!

The Pretender 05-15-2005, 02:21 PM Yes the Tua KO was embarrasing. But what's important is Ruiz didn't let that crushing defeat end his career. To the contrary he adapted and turned it all around, going on to defeat many good fighters and become champ. Tua went on to lose his next couple fights and is now nowhere to be seen. That's the sign of a great fighter, someone who perseveres through adversity.

If Tito had Ruiz' heart perhaps he'd be much better.. You're right about the adversity part.. Just like Prince naseem ran back to his country so did Tito and they never been the same after their losses.. Why? Because they are bullies with no technique and no heart who were exposed!!
!! Anorak 05-15-2005, 02:31 PM This is getting boring now.
Though people don't have to join in the thread if they don't like it, I guess...

Exactly what I'm talking about. So many fighters have come and gone after the first major setback or defeat of their careers and never been the same since. It happens all the time and very few ever make a successful comeback.
Tyson after Douglas
Kirk Johnson after Ruiz
Tua after Lewis
Bowe
Trinidad
Roy Jones after 2 bad losses
Holyfield after Ruiz
Oquendo after Ruiz and Byrd
Will Wlad make a comeback?
Few have made great comebacks like Ruiz and Foreman.

i agree with you about prince naseem, but not tua, tua has loads of heart, he was always going to be exposed because he was one dimensional, he was never going to beat the likes of lewis unless he landed a lucky punch
Famoso Matador 05-15-2005, 03:18 PM HEHEHHEHEHHAHAHAHHAHAH Oh My Goodness.
I won't lie, i wanted Ruiz to beat the piss out of Toney. And when i saw Ruiz actually fighting i loved it. I don't think clinching 10+ times a round should be considered a tactic though, I think points should be taken off when it gets to the point where it isnt a boxing match anymore.

You know, come to think of it if you look at my partial list and think about all the fighters who got a major loss or setback and never recovered, Ruiz was involved in quite a large proportion of them. Ruiz the touch of death for a fighter's career when he wins. And ironically Ruiz is like the living dead and refuses to be put down!
