View Full Version : Most One-Sided Fight Ever?
!! Anorak 05-15-2005, 07:39 AM Okay, he wasn't demolished, but this made Klitschko vs. Williams look like a competitive match-up. About the only fight I can think of that was more one-sided off the top of my head was Tyson vs. Bruno II or Big Klit vs. Johnson.
Though in many ways this was worse... at least those guys got KTFO. Tito had to put up with being exposed non stop for 45 minutes.
And I normally hate to use the over-used phrase of "exposed", but that's what this was. Why didn't he even change his tactics?
EXIGE 05-15-2005, 07:43 AM Prince Naseem vs. Armando Castro
"i didnt c him win a round actually but i was boxing his head off"
that was a good fight as were many of his fights. Naz won btw.
you could equally say that the Ali fight when he didnt receive one punch just before he had his license taken away was a complete whitewash.
!! Anorak 05-15-2005, 07:49 AM you could equally say that the Ali fight when he didnt receive one punch just before he had his license taken away was a complete whitewash.Yeah, you could, but - and Ali's my favourite boxer - I always think the Cleveland Williams fight is overrated. The guy was clearly too old to be in the ring with Ali. Whereas Tito was being feted as the second coming.
And again, at least Williams had the good fortune to be KOed in three, rather than having his inabilities exposed for nine more rounds...
I know people may disagree but one fight that actually stick in my mind is the Holyfield vs Tyson. Holyfield looked like a geezer slapping a pitbull all over the place. :D :p :D

Holyfield looked like a geezer slapping a pitbull all over the place. :D :p :D :eek:It's a good image, but at least Tyson got to throw something back on occasion... talk about hit and not get hit!
spinksjinx 05-15-2005, 08:43 AM It is the most one sided fight I have ever seen. There was nothing competitive about it and Tito did nothing to try and make it competitive. About halfway through the fight he should of thought, Hey I cant beat this guy now and I am getting smacked with a jab how about I hold or beat onto his arms and wear him out.
I would think if Tito could have held and smacked his arms a bit it would have been more competitive, but Winky made Trinidad look like he didnt even want to be their last night.
I would reconsider retirement not because he is shot but there arent to many sure wins for Felix out there anymore. All of the elite guys at 154-160 are boxers and not the brawler that Mayorga was.
One thing that doesnt seem so out their is that now after seeing Winky box, Perhaps Cory Spinks should have went up and fought Trinidad.
MetalVomit 05-15-2005, 08:48 AM Okay, he wasn't demolished, but this made Klitschko vs. Williams look like a competitive match-up.

Tito's daddy was telling him that he was still in it, so he didnt seem to try to change a thing.
as214 05-15-2005, 08:53 AM Tito's daddy was telling him that he was still in it, so he didnt seem to try to change a thing.
I don't believe that Tito is capable of changing styles. I can't remember seeing a fight where Tito has ever made adjustments I could be wrong though.. He's not a smart man and I'm not only going on what Hopkins said. Winky said it also, not as bluntly and more indirectly than Hopkins did!!
BrooklynBomber 05-15-2005, 09:01 AM This was an ownage 1 to 12 but I think that Tito's biggest problem is his trainer. This ****er was telling him he is okay whilest he was getting his owned. he should switch trainer if he does not know how to adjust.
paulmmv 05-15-2005, 09:04 AM this and the holyfield vs donald fight where the most one sided fight
spinksjinx 05-15-2005, 09:14 AM this and the holyfield vs donald fight where the most one sided fight
Totally agree.
Another thing I would like to point out about Tito's corner is that someone mentioned this months back. Before the Hopkins fight Tito's dad would also smack his son and get him hyped. Now he is calm and cool and worst of all SILENT! This was the case again last night.
I think he has given up on his son, he seems more thrilled to train Cotto then he does Felix.
Michael Wittmann 05-15-2005, 10:03 AM concerning all this nagging about how bigklits opponents all of a sudden is out of shape overweight and fat for their lifetime shots..
its obvious and self evident that the team that prepares bigklits opponents only give them a punchers chance of winning..
and when vitali sees one of the lardasses climbing into the ring - hell know this guy will jump in and swing at my jaw. utilizing that extra wight in the jump-swing motion. and wheres the problem in swaying out of range of that..? :)
now heres the real fun part:
the respective trainers telling their man; your one of the abselute best boxers in the world - but your only chance of beating vitali is a ko by a wild swing, utilizing all that extra fat wewe put on you as lewerage. good luck in there, son!
what a motivational factor this must boost! :D

The most onesided fight I've seen has got to be the Larry Holmes vs Randall "Tex" Cobb, even the comentator, Howard Cosell, stop commentating out of embarrassment.

how did that fight turn out?
lb.4lb.rob 05-15-2005, 03:01 PM valuev is to slow put him in with dr.ironfist and you will see a one- sided fight
Michael Wittmann 05-15-2005, 03:04 PM im not so sure.. russia vs ukraine would be quite personal..
Manny_P 05-15-2005, 03:11 PM Pacquiao vs Barrera was a one sided beating. That was worse than this since Barrera got hurt plenty times and he was dropped like crazy!
ottoevans 05-15-2005, 03:18 PM the most one sided fight against 2 superstars ever that ive seen where Tito vs. Winky and Tito vs. B-Hop
paul750 05-15-2005, 03:43 PM the lennox lewis v david tua fight was of course very one sided, but that maybe didn't come as much of a suprise to some people as these fights because most people already knew tua was one dimensional
neils7147933 05-15-2005, 03:55 PM this wasn't even the most one-sided middleweight fight I've seen within the past year. That was Jermain Taylor vs. William Joppy...
Tha_Greatest 05-15-2005, 04:07 PM The worst one sided beatdown was this horrible PPV, Congratulations Tito Vs Hopkins, Not only did Hop one sided beat down Tito but he also Knock down Tito one in the 12th and he Later K.Od Tito unlike Winky
EXIGE 05-15-2005, 04:24 PM havent read every1s response but from wat i have read every1 seems to have forgotten the
Joe Frazier VS. George Foreman - that was just classic.
Almost every single Prince Naseem fight was one sided. all of my fights are gonna be one sided when I "hit the world scene good and proper and make my mark" as Naz would say.
!! Anorak 05-15-2005, 04:34 PM Pacquiao vs Barrera was a one sided beating. That was worse than this since Barrera got hurt plenty times and he was dropped like crazy!I haven't got round to watching that one yet, though presumably Barrera must have got some shots off?
Tito penetrated Winky's defence, what - twice a round, max? If that?
Those generous judges, two of 'em giving him a round... I presume that was for the twelfth...
!! Anorak 05-15-2005, 04:35 PM havent read every1s response but from wat i have read every1 seems to have forgotten the

Actually, that's a point. Though again, getting KTFO in a couple of rounds actually seems less humiliating than getting consistently outboxed over 12 rounds... particularly if you're so thick you don't change what clearly isn't working.
SweetScience 05-16-2005, 02:01 AM In terms of a former great fighter at their end of their careers, that fight last night reminded me of Ali/Holmes and Leonard/Norris.
I saw no fire in Tito last night, just like Ali and Leonard. Ali just took a beating and never tryed to win that fight. Leonard got hurt and just tryed to survive the 12 rounds, never trying to win that fight.
People can say that they quit or whatever, but remember one thing that these men are not the same human beings they once were....mind, body and soul.
