Skilled, dedicated to bodywork, disciplined...

What do you guys think?

I don't see him achieving as much (even assuming same fundamentals, I see less power and chin), but I sure love watching him.

To each his own but I actually see Bradley as the more skilled fighter, faster too. Mike showed his spurts of boxing, mostly braweled, but I think Bradley showed how good of a boxer he is in the Petterson fight. Tim Bradley is only 26 and already has a solid record, I think Bradley very well has a chance at achieving more. I think Mike's career highlight was when he stopped Jackson.

I agree that Bradley is faster, but I haven't seen many fighters more skilled than McCallum in the past 30 years. What do you think Bradley does better than McCallum?

I hope he achieves more, because I would like to see it happening, and because he is a really nice guy, but I have my doubts. I already have seen Bradley shook too many times for me to be optimistic on that. He sure has the time. We will see.

McCallum did not just beat Jackson, but also Milton McCrory, Steve Collins, Michael Watson, Donald Curry, Herol Graham and Sumbu Kalambay. While Jackson was a class act and a living KO reel I would not consider that win McCallum's greatest performance. My personal highlight of his career, although only a draw, is the first Toney fight, also because McCallum was 35 at the point and fought a perfect fight a torrid pace, like Toney did.

What I hope is that Bradley gets to fight the stars of his time. McCallum could never had a chance to.

I think the KO of Curry was the highlight of McCallum's career, atleast to most people. It was a highlight reel knockout over a well-known and highly regarded fighter.

As for myself, it's his stoppage of Watson that's probably his best showing. McCallum vs Kalambay II and Toney I are the best fights I've seen him in. His fight against Harding at light heavyweight was a great way to go out for him.

I like what I've seen of Bradley but I wouldn't compare him to McCallum just yet. I don't mean stylistically but as far as skills and abilities go. He isn't at that level yet as far as I'm concerned. Stylistically there may be similarities but I'd have to see more of him. I've only watched his last 5 fights. I'm sure there's more to come.

i dont think he is as skilled as mcCallum who is heavily under-rated

i do think bradley will have a very succesful career though as he is skilled and more importantly is a throwback to the old school.hes hard-working,tons of heart,dedicated and willing to fight anybody.the fact that hes very entertaining to watch and is in a division rich in young talent also helps

Bradley is a guy that fights on the balls of his feet shoe shines and uses speed and combos to disorganize the opponent, he is more like Terry Norris in terms of his balance,aggressiveness and combination punching.

McCallum had a very underrated shotgun jab to.

McCallum was a natural counter puncher who wasn't as sloppy or wasteful with his punches as Bradley is.



McCallum had very good handspeed when he was a junior middleweight.He bounced Sean Mannion,Ayab Kalule and luigi minchillo's heads around like a speed bag.

You make a very good point on movement. Personally I have seen Bradley from 24 to 26 and McCallum from 29 to 39, so I wonder if age matters for that.

On the rest I don't agree so much. I think Bradley has a very nice jab and uses his smarts (although he has some more way to go to show that he is like McCallum in the boxing IQ compartment). Finally he is not as flashy as Norris, but much more disciplined.

I agree with you, I was pointing out similarities in style, but I think he might lack the chin to have a career in McCallum's league. I sure hope he gets some big fights, because he at least deserves a chance to prove what he is made of with the top guys.

Don't see it. McCallum was a far superior body puncher and punched with more power. His chin has to be considered better than Bradley's as well.

again , no , mccallum was not a power puncher.
he was more like toney in this aspect , but with an even lesser power , as he came up from 154 to 160 and toney came up from 160 to higher and higher weights. excpet curry (a former 147) , mccallum needed accumulation of punishment to hurt an opponent.

but it is true that bradley has nothing in common with mccallum.

Ali didn't ko Foreman with one power shot. He hit him with a 3 punch combination after landing a couple of good right hands. I guess you either forgot that or didn't see it.
