Taking them out in brutal but not ultra flashy fashion and dominating so much it's not even irrelevant? Having respect but not the full respect they deserve because of former casted shadows? Hope that's what you meant.:luvbed:
BigStereotype 02-16-2010, 02:13 AM Hey everyone, Manny Pacquiao > Sugar Ray Leonard.
EngorgedW/Blood 02-16-2010, 08:42 AM I'm not big on Biggie and I am from NY so I actually have a lot of rappers>Biggie.
Nas, 2pac, any of the original Wu members(except for U-God and Cappodonna), Guru from Gangstarr. I also like EPMD, Capone N Noreaga and Mobb Deep more than BIG but of course they're not better lyrically, I just like their music more than Big's music. I guess you can call me a Biggie Smalls hater. I'm just not the type to ride a rapper's bandwagon just because they died.

Exactly. Biggie and Pac are the most overrated rappers of all time.

Everyone knew what Biggie & Pac where to rap when they were alive too. These young kids who weren't around listening to music back then have been deprived, but also can't have the same perspective.
I doubt Jay-Z would even say he's better than Big. And the fact that he's always jacking BIG rhymes makes it even more concrete.

I always felt he had a jealousy issue with BIG.
"If you haven't heard, I'm Michael Magic and Bird
all rolled in one - cause none got more flows than Young
Plus got more flows to come
And if I ain't better than Big, I'm the closest one"
It's almost like he was waiting for someone to say it because if he said it, he'd catch hell...
Derranged 02-16-2010, 11:55 AM To be fair, since Jay Z had the chance to develop better skills, you can only compare the two at the time Biggie was alive, correct?

Ok so 1997 Jay Z to 1997 Biggie.. It was pretty close. Tough to call. Clearly Biggie gets overrated because of his death.

Yep. Really comes down to opinion. I always had it Nas > Jay > BIG. Not that they were the best but just out of the big three.

Biggie was just so much more popular than those two. That must have been one hell of a three year ride Biggie had.

Kobe Bryant 02-17-2010, 01:32 PM Jay is a great artist no doubt. And he has a couple of great albums and a lot of solid stuff on top of that. And I know Big has only two albums and a few features and freestyles. But even with that little of work he's great too. And I just prefer him to Jay. Big had monster lyrics and a heavyweight flow. It's a shame I wish we could have got one more album out of Big. Instead of some thrown together bull**** that Puff put out.
Ether 02-17-2010, 01:37 PM I'm gonna green K this idiot because of his retardation.. Pac and Biggie are the most overrated of all time? what a stupid ******.
EngorgedW/Blood 02-17-2010, 01:50 PM Exactly. Biggie and Pac are the most overrated rappers of all time.
Na, not 2pac. 2pac is like a poet on the mic in his prime years. I can listen to 2pac, I can't really listen to Biggie. He doesn't bring anything much different than any other lyrically gifted rapper. Shyne sounds just like Biggie. Nobody has yet to sound like 2pac or even try to copy his style because they know they'll fail at it.

Um thanks? But yeah, just my opinion... They're often regarded as the greatest two rappers of all time when clearly they're not. BTW I'm not white (not that that has **** to do with anything).
Rakim, KRS One, and Kool G Rap **** on 2Pac and Biggie.

Nah neither am I. However I think I would like him more if people stopped talking about him as some sort of demigod. He's good and has varied subject matter but I find his lyrics and word play kinda simplistic.

The only thing Jay-Z did for rap and hiphop was make it okay to be fake. He paved the way for people like soulja boy, young dro, and lil wayne. Dumb ass *****s who make no sense but have a good beat. :nonono:
CaRnAgEViOLaToR 02-17-2010, 05:40 PM Jay-Z better than BIG? Oh hellll noooo! Ready To Die > Any Jay-Z album.
Lucky Luciano 02-17-2010, 06:52 PM How is Jay Z better than the guy he studied and quotes BIG in his music to this day? Jay Z is apart of killing hip hop too.

If you have beef with Wu-Tang members then you automatically get no love from me. GhostFace and Rae had beef with Biggie because he was a biter. The newest rapper to beef with Ghostface and Rae was wack ass 50. Only wack rappers beef with Wu-Tang, all the good rappers have nothing but respect for Wu.

I don't really follow beef.
Most of the time they end up kissing and making up at the end anyways.
Oh and, I never really listened to a lot of the Wu. That's not to say that I don't respect them. Just never really ever got around to listening to them. I'm not a Hip-Hop head by any means, but I think I have decent musical selection.

LOL, weren't they mad because he bit the "Illmatic" cover and said he stole their style or something?
I dunno, I like a lot of Biggie's songs, but I like a lot of Jay's songs, too.
ABOSWORTH 02-18-2010, 12:50 PM Biggie is better IMO. ****, Jay-Z recycled half of Biggie's rhyme book, how can he be considered better? Biggie had a much better flow and spit fire. I like Jay-Z alright but I can't put him above Biggie.

All he did was bite biggie's stuff, steal his beats, then claim it as his own.
I'm not fooled by a great beat. Whoever makes Jay's beats knows what they are doing. Jay on the other hand. **** him.

Born on the east coast, moved down south, then moved to oakland(not LA like he repped). It's no surprise that he was able to change his style so much. He was influenced by so many different cultures. East coast was his first style, then he went west coast, then he went down south for his spiritual enlightenment. I'm not surprised by it. :dunno:

apokalips 02-19-2010, 07:39 PM Ready to Die is pretty much equal to Illmatic in my book, maybe slightly behind it. But Jay-Z ain't on BIG's level, especially considerin how much he bits him.
