The show lied about his age and boxing record so they could make him into something he is not, the contestants and presenters also lied chatting about how talented he was for an 18 year old.

yeah, and if you look, the minimum age to compete on "the contender" is 18, so what they did probably was just turn him into something he's not, and by saying he's 18 makes him look even better since the minimum age is 18. Good researching

I'd bet that there is a chance that Juan lied about his age to some boxing commission somewhere and has had to stick by that age. Remember that he was born in Mexico and they don't seem to give a ****how old a fighter is, take Barrera turning pro at like 14 or 15 years old.
