Dear boxingscene friends, in honor of the upcoming 30th year anniversary in 2005 of probably the greatest fight in history, and in honor of my hometown, I am formally changing my username to THRILLAinMANILA effective today Dec. 1.

Nevertheless, I will still be the same old Asian Storm you've always known, only looking for the welfare of this site and its well-meaning members (and good posters of course). I will still be the "Good Karma God".

it looks great like what asian storm, err thrilla in manila said it will be 30th yr anniversary of probably the greatest heavy weight fight ever, I am hoping that their will be a Thrilla in Manila 2, MAB-PAC 2 is a contender, as well as PAC-JMM 2 or PAC-EM fights....

I just dont get it why 30 years ago we can stage a big fight, in fact the biggest fight in the world at that time in Manila, but now we even had some difficulties to stage a tune-up fight for the PAC...

That's a great idea jomapac. they should use this 30th anniversary thing to hype up a Pac mega-fight next year. I just don't know if there are sponsors who will be willing to put up that much money on this fight to be staged in Manila. Manny's asking price is already up t0 $1M (that's big money already in our side of the fence, about P56 Million). and I'm sure his opponent would not want anything less. it would be great to see a Thrilla in Manila 2 featuring Pac himself vs the current Mexican big hitters ;)

Indications were that it did! A THRILLA II may do much to help revive the sagging tourism industry of such a lovely country! :)

If there's anyone you can ask to help to put together a package that HBO or whoever you need likes. I remember that it was PLDT, the Philippine telephone company, that was the principal sponsor of the Marquez fight (or, at least, one of the principals). That was announced atop the ring by Buffer.

So, I was thinking, if PLDT can do that, why not do it for Thrilla II...? :)

I have no idea how they rate storms, typhoons, if one will,--those "signals"-- but they say, it's gonna be 185kph max centerwinds!
