Now I know that the PS3 is lighter and has more GB. But does it have any disadvantges compared to the normal PS3? And if so, what are they?

Thanks!

I have a stand where you can put the PS3 Slim up vertical.

Can't the slim play Ps2 games? And can you just explain, is 80 GB enough to save alot of data on?

No the Slim can't play PS2 games. It doesn't really matter if you have a PS2. I got the 120GB Slim and it's more than enough for me. But unless you download a lot of games, movies and music onto the PS3, you can upgrade the hdd.

Yeah, to be honest am only really interesting in games and pictures on my PS3!

But can I buy a 120mg card seperate then? How much would that cost?

You can get 500GB hard drive for not that much.

Really, how much would it cost roughly?

So just buy a 500MB hard drive, then take the 80GB out my fat ps3 and replace it with the 500?

500GB is the sweet spot for hard drives right now. They are dirt cheap. I'm not sure if you'd need a particular brand / model for a console, but if you're looking into 500GB HDD's get the latest Samsung Spinpoint F3 (model # HD501HJ). It's a single platter model (this is a good thing). Mine seems very snappy and responsive. Best 7,200 RPM 500GB drive on the market.

Again, I'm not sure if you'd need a specific brand, model or interface. The Samsung is SATA II.

Yeah. I believe you just undo a screw to remove the hard drive and then undo 5 screws to take the hard drive out of the casing.

But you have to back your data before doing it. Or else everything will be lost.

As for the price I'm not too sure. But they have been dropping down.

Sony are a joke and the Slim is a peice of sh*t:

2 USB ports,
No PS2 emulation,
No SACD support,
Bravia Sync XMB control,
No third party OS install,

The only versions of PS3 that are worth buying are the ones with Emotion Engine and can play (almost all) PS2 and PS1 games. They came with 20GB or 60GB drives. New ones don't have flash card reader and only have 2 USB ports (instead of 4), plus the missing features 2Tough mentioned. No contest. Get an old school (used) one on eBay.

1st generation 60GB model rules.
