AintGottaClue 05-13-2005, 06:17 PM vitali is probally one of the smartest boxers ever, he can do whatever he wants in the ring and u cant stop him, hell how many rounds has he lost, 1 vs byrd, 2 vs lewis, 1 vs sanders, i dunno offical how many rounds he has lost in his other fights but im pretty sure it was few if none at all, people will rip on him for the rest of his career but there just blinded foolz, they call vitali a skilless robot but there wrong.
!! Mr. Soprano 05-13-2005, 06:19 PM But on a serious note... Good post McKay.
Why would you say yesterday that Golota has a big chance of beating the KO's?
I'm not Not picking on Golota, nor you.. Just wondering.

Reminds me of Hopkins...

good call, wins over C+ fighters won't get you a "menacing" title, IMO....
I'll be the 1st to admit: if (and it's a big IF) Vitali can convincingly KO a Byrd, Toney, or Rahman, I'll start drinkin' the Klitschko Kool-Aid....until then, he's a paper champion with an HBO contract
The Pretender 05-13-2005, 06:35 PM #1 Reason why Vitali is suspect:
Vitali keeps ducking Ruiz
The Fix 05-13-2005, 06:40 PM i want to see vitali get his chin touched up and see how he reacts, only then will i consider him "menacing". rahman is the man to do it, imo he will beat vitali by KO

He definitely got his chin touched by Corrie Sanders. Maybe Rahman hits a little harder than Sanders but its debateable.

I don't see a chance for Rahman against Klitchko. He'll have a puncher's chance until he's down, but with the shots Klitchko took from both Lewis and Sanders without going down, I don't see how the Rock has any chance of putting the big guy on the canvas. And no, the Rock doesn't hit harder than Sanders. They're probably pretty close, but if I had to pick the more powerful puncher, I'd go with Sanders. That straight left of his was one of the nastiest punches in boxing. Fast, coming from the wrong direction, hits like a freight train.

everybody gets touched eventually, lewis, jones, dlh, tito, holyfield, holmes and ali have all gotten caught. vits no different and imo rahman has the right skill set to do it. power + skill + experience = vitali down in 7

did u not see the uppercut he took and kept on coming vs lewis?

Jones and Lewis have notoriously fragile chins. They just had such great defence it did not matter a whole lot.
The Fix 05-13-2005, 07:14 PM Jones and Lewis have notoriously fragile chins. They just had such great defence it did not matter a whole lot.
when both those fighters went down it was from big shots.
and no one said jones had a fragile chin until the end of his career. he was hit by a legit heavy with a big shot and it didnt put him down in the first round of his fight with ruiz. to say he had a "notoriously fragile chin" would be wrong.btw if lewis had such a fragile chin and vit has such great power than why didnt lewis go down against vitali? vitali hit lewis with some very good shots but lewis took them well.

Jones never got hit until the end of career. You talk about being "caught" Vitali has been "caught" before by Corrie Sanders . Every time Lewis was "caught with a big punch he got KO'd like against Rahman he got dropped on one punch. Against McCall he got dropped on one punch. Jones went down and stayed down on one punch from Tarver. You can "catch" Vitali all you want he has been caught but he has the jaw to handle taking a big punch. Jones and Lewis were defensively masterfull fighters and they had to be, because like I said they had notoriously fragile jaws and they knew their limitations. Go look in the fanstasy fight section. Match Lewis up with any big puncher from History and everyone picks to lose by KO. I contend after seeing Vitali eat Sanders shots that nobody can Knock Vitali down and out with 1 punch. Some guys just have that ability. Can you imagine anybody knocking Big George down and out with one punch. Nobody could ever knock Tyson down and out with one punch either.

rahman hits harder then vitali, but vitali is a superior boxer to rahman he uses the power which is great but not "GREAT" better then rahman, and lewis got hit by a punch he didnt see from mccall so thats diff. lewis and sanders power are rgeater then rahman, rahman maybe can be equal but i dont see it, vitali took shots from them he can handle rahman.
marvdave 05-13-2005, 07:45 PM He definitely got his chin touched by Corrie Sanders. Maybe Rahman hits a little harder than Sanders but its debateable.
Rahman has the size, style and big right hand to beat VK. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the heart. He is a lazy fighter who is usually out of shape. VK should beat him easy. It's crazy to question VK's chin. He took Sander's bombs well and came back to win. Sanders straight shot is one of the most powerful shots in the business. He also took big punches from Lewis. VK has my respect. If he can continue on this path, he can do great things. His brother is a different story.

rahman doesnt have the style or size or power to beat VK period, vitali is just better :D

is that the only picture you have of Sturm in his underwear?...I doubt it :D
Knicksman20 05-13-2005, 08:11 PM In order for VK to be called menacing he has to: 1-Avenge his loss to Byrd. 2- Beat Rahman & conviningly. 3- Beat James Toney. Once he clears the division out, he would've earned everyone's respect as the heavy champ that's a menace. Until then just Like Sac1 said, he's a paper champ with an HBO contract.

No way. Vitali has to fight Ruiz in a unification bout before I can consider him a true champ!

tatjana? is that you?
wmute 05-14-2005, 12:40 AM I tend to agree with most of the reasons except:
on vitali being a very good boxer from the outside, I think in vk's case is more exploiting his size: he is effective, but I wouldnt take the outside boxing as one of his strength.
having a background in kick/mma would help you in boxing? what difference would it make?
is it for technical reasons? or because the fights tend to be more... violent, I don't know what word to use, but I hope I am giving the idea.
what I like about vitali: he is a smart fighter.
he has the physical gifts and the smarts to be THE champ in this (weak) division, I still think he is a pain to watch fighting, but he is the best HW out there.

jones had been hit with hard shots before he stepped into the ring with ruiz or tarver and was only knocked down once. he took some heavy shots.
imo i think anyone can get knocked out with one punch if they were hit right. when vit fights rahman will see an example of that ;)

You're probably right, though it's not like Rahman's never been KO'd before. No biggie as far as I'm concerned.
Oh, you mean you think the Rock will KO KlitchKO?....That's what we call a "delusion" ;)
moochi 05-14-2005, 09:54 AM 1.has Never been knocked down

number 11....he is able to use the ten points above ONLY because the heavyweight division is poorer than ethiopia.....

having a soviet kickboxing backround mix with the german boxing scholl, you have a very unorthodox fighter.
every opponent i can remeber has talked about how they are going to go on the inside etc.......but it hasnt worked yet.
i box and its very hard to fight someone who fights weird
paul750 05-14-2005, 11:41 AM he still needs to make a few more defences of his title aganist the best fighters available to be regarded as a truly great heavyweight, giving lennox lewis problems for a few rounds and still losing does not cut any ice, he needs to prove himself further.
