View Full Version : Corrales against Tszyu/Hatton
Round 1 05-12-2005, 09:22 PM Boxing promoter Gary Shaw and trainer Joe Goosen and Corrales himself don’t want anything to do against Castillo in the immediate future or the 135 pound division.
Corrales next fight is going to be against the winner of Tszyu and Hatton in the 140 pound division, Shaw stated..
I have nothing more to prove, I fought him, I beat him and it was a real honor to fight him, stated Corrales, whomever or wherever he fights, I’ll go see him, he’s a great fighter.
A professional fighter should only have a great fight like this one only once in his career, finalized Corrales.

If Corrales thinks that fighting KT is his next move than that is some horrible advice from his team and just flat out a ****ing ridiculous pipe dream.
A pipe dream in terms of winning...if he thinks he can get hit with KT's sledge hammer right he is wrong...he won't last 5 rounds with KT.
I will be very pissed off if Diego does not grant Castillo a rematch...if he does not I think there is no doubt who the best lightweight in the world is and it would not be Chico...
It is funny, think about this for a second...before the fight started most poles done by fans had about 60% thinking Diego would win and 40% thinking Castillo would win.
Well Chico wins by KO and I bet if you took a poll now the numbers would be reversed! This fight does not need to happen tommorrow or next week or next month but it certainly needs to happen...I will give Chico 4-6 months to rest up and ernjoy his controversial but hard fought win...after that if he is taking about fighting every fighter except for JL then I will have no choice but to call my boy JL the best lightweight in the world regardless of which weight class Chico winds up in!
Upper Cut 05-13-2005, 01:19 AM Yes, Castillo deserves a rematch!
It wasn't a clause of the contract?
As far as Tszu, I think he will terminate chico
I said before the Castillo fight that I thought Chico would KO Castillo then Tszyu so you know where I stand. Hatton may give him some problems with his speed and if he boxed all night then he would have a chance but I doubt he would do it and he would get KO also. I made a thread about the Chico Castillo Tszyu thing
Hurlex 05-13-2005, 01:46 AM castillo will ko chico in the rematch(that he DESERVES i mean come on...30 seconds between KD's)...KT will kills chico..i mean i seriously think Kostya will really hurt chico bad.

I made a thread were I said that I dont think anyone can go toe to toe with Chico including Tszyu. Castillo is a bad boy and I was surprised and I bet that Chico was also on how much punishment he could take. I truely believe that this fight took more out of Castillo and the next fight would be more one sided and a earlier KO for Chico.
Either way Castillo matches up better. He has a better chin then Tszyu and is just as big. Chico would KO Tszyu early

DLT,who do you like if it were Castillo vs Tszyu? JW

There you go. You always think Im hating but your wrong. I like both of them but I look at styles. Tszyu will KO him. I believe that Castillo has heavy hands but not 1 punch KO power. His style is made for Tszyu and he would be hurt.
However I believe that Chico does have one punch power and with his sharp combo's he would hurt Tszyu alot. Tszyu could hurt him too but it wont be quick and Chico would get to him first

Ill tell you something else I noticed that alot of people didnt pick up on. Chico made it known from the begining that he was not going to be bullied. It all depeneds on the refs you have. Some let you punch on the break and some dont. The ref in the Jones Ruiz fight wouldnt let Ruiz do anything and he broke them up immediatley. In Floyd's fights with Castillo that was the main thing Jose was doing. He would grab Floyd and keep pucnhing while they were in the clinch. Castillo and Tszyu does this more then any fighter and they wear people down. Chico never does it but he must have saw tape and his trainer told him that Castill is going to continue to punch you in the clinch so you do it first. He was the first guy I ever saw do that back to Castillo. He was getting better shots in the clinches then Jose was and that caught him off guard and got his respect. He would do the same to Tszyu

So,your saying Castillo is a stronger puncher than Tszyu or what?Tszyu has devastating KO power and has more polished boxing skills than Diego.Tszyu would easily outpoint Diego,or even stop him late like Castillo almost did.
*I'm hoping Castillo gets a crack at Tszyu. One,because Castillo is a good friend of JC Chavez, and we all know the lopsided beatdown Tszyu put on Chavez. Two,once upon a time Tszyu got kayoed on his feet in similar fashion as Castillo.
I'm almost hoping Gatti KTFO of Mayweather next month, even though I hate Gatti alittle more than Mayweather.Nothing like two overrated fighters eliminating each other.

Did you read what I said? I said that Castillo has heavy hands but doesnt have one punch power and will be seriously hurt by Tszyu and get KO. Tszyu does punch harder and has one punch power

LMFAO.
How the hell is Mayweather overrated? he has beat better competition than just about anyone in boxing man. WTF are you talking about.
Castillo, Corrales, Ndou, Corley, Hernandez, Augustus, Sosa....and the god damn list goes on and on and on.
You just made the stupidest comment of all time.

Dont go there my friend. He'll kill you for talking bad about Johnson

How is he overrated? He came out of no where to beat Wood,Jones Jr and Tarver(Wood a top10,Jones/Tarver Top2 Lt.heavies at the time).Mayweather talks a big game for fighting such little known opponents the last two years. He fought Sosa,Ndou,Corley,Bruseles the last two years, which makes him 2yrs removed of fighting a top notch opponent. Two years of fighting bums and he's still considered a top3 p4p fighter, which is non-sense IMO.Glen Johnson beats three of the best in his division in one year, and still cant get on the top10 p4p on most list.

Johnson is nothing special. He landed a lucky punch on Jones. Won a gift decision against Tarver. And Woods? who? dont say that I should have stopped my list....when you include Clinton Woods in Johnson's list. He has lost 9 fights.....where he was completely outclassed.
If you are going to say the Micky Ward of the Lightheavyweight division is not overrated due to his current status........I say that is ridiculous. Tarver is going to knock him out cold in the rematch.....and then we will re assess him as a fighter.

Ha,a bold statment that says you know nothing about Glen Johnson.

Funny. All you can point to....are those 3 victories. Only two were actually legit. LOL. You did not even know who he was before he fought RJJ and dont lie man.
Saying Mayweather is overrated...and Johnson is not...is dumb.

Ha!I knew who he was plenty before he KTFO of Jones.I predicted he would KO Jones BTW(I have many witnesses).Look in my gallery,I actually posted clips of his KO win over Ulrich way before he fought Jones Jr.So dont go hinting that im some sort of bandwagon jumper.
PBF is overrated
Glen Johnson is underrated
Only a stupid person would get them mixed up,lol.

Just had to quote that stupidity one more time before I go to sleep. Funny how you call the people PBF fought bums.....LOL.
Look at johnson...and the fighters he beat before Jones. Damn.

Martin (Top Knowledge) 05-13-2005, 05:03 AM Corrales shouldn't be chassing the Tszyu vs Hatton winner, These are both BIG Light-welterweights. Corrales has been flirting with super-feather/lightweight for years now.
Corrales should take the Morales fight if he's wanting an easier nights work. Morales is a lot smaller but then Corrales will run the risk of being out-boxed by Morales... :dunno:
Hatton or Tszyu will steam role through Corrales, simply because they're much bigger guy's.
The Troll 05-13-2005, 05:07 AM Corrales should stay at lighweight 135 pounds. The 140 pound weight division is already stacked, and dont forget that Corrales just moved up from superfeatherweight 130 pounds not so long ago. He should stay at 135 and just take all the titles and dominate the division and wait for guys from superfeatherweight 130 like Morales and guys from superlightweight 140 like Gatti to come to him.

I think Corrales could carry the weight upto light welter but fighting a big guy like Tszyu or Hatton in his first fight at the weight would be very risky. I think he should aim for the Morales fight too.

i agree with this.... but i don't think corrales will fall in to that trap of fighting tszyu or hatton right away. he should stay where he is and go after morales -- i think it's the other way around :p
i think chico can fight against most the guys at 140, but i also think zoo would blow him out.... it'd be bombs away for zoo on chico's leaky defense...
Stickman 05-13-2005, 08:48 AM Just wanted to jump in here:
Glen Johnson's big key to success is his work ethic, both in and out of the ring. But at his age, it's just a matter of time before his body fails him. If he wins the Tarver rematch, he should retire. If he loses, he should retire.
Re: Chico/Kostya
Tszyu doesn't have Castillo's chin. If Chico can catch him with a couple of good shots early, the fight will be over. If he can't, the odds are that Kostya will win by KO or TKO after 7. Chico would come into that fight with the handspeed advantage, and is nearly equal to Tszyu in KO power. It'd be a great fight, with Chico boxing more, rather than trying to stand and trade. I'd have to pick Chico by Ko, before 5...I don't think Tszyu would respect his power...he's a head-hunter, and would take too many chances, ending up stunned on the canvas, unable to continue.
I actually think Hatton would have a better chance at a win (remember, styles make fights), if he jumped on Chico early, throwing as many body shots as possible, stealing Chico's power away quickly.
Alpha Male 05-13-2005, 09:27 AM Corrales fighting Tszyu/Hatton would be the dumbest career move in boxing. Corrales would get his ass straight murdered be either fighter. He should stay at 135 and own the division.

I sort of agree with that.I look at it this way,he's accomplished way more in boxing than many people thought he would,so retiring after a loss wouldn't bother me.
I think The Road Warrior has three to five good years left.I believe he's gonna win in convincing fashion over Tarver, and put Tarver into retirment. After that,Johnson will either grant Jones Jr a rematch, since he is that nice. Or he'l try and get revenge against Bhop, only if Bhops gets past Taylor and Johnson gets past Tarver(Both look to be tough tasks).

Of course Tszyu would respect Chico's power. He respected Ben Tackie for God's sake.
Guys like Freitas & Roberto Garcia lasted longer against Chico than Tszyu would? I think not...
Tszyu would take some serious time against Chico, and his biggest worry would be post knock down, because Chico is one dangerous guy.
Chico would KO Hatton, easy. Hatton's style is PERFECT for Chico. Chico throws those short, powerful, stunning punches. Hatton would play right into Chico's hands, whereas Tszyu would be more patient.
Konstantin 05-13-2005, 11:56 AM Chico gets hit REALLY easily and way to much. Add that with the fact that Kostya has laser guided punches creates lots of knockdowns.

Took more out of Castillo than Chico, I will bet you every point i have on the rematch, if Chico decdides to go that route.
Listen up DLT, Listen the **** up! JL Castillo is going to watch the replay of the fight and think to himself that was no big deal, I can do that again and again...and he can!
Diego is going to watch that replay and think holy ****! I do not want to go thru that again, nor do I think I can...lets bet!
Zoo vs. Corrales...man you are a big fan...Chico would get annihilated in this one, it would not even be close....wanna bet.
Morales is the fight for chico, money wise and it is easily winnable...the other two fights will be nothing short of hell and war...I know Castillo is willing to do it again, lets see how Chico feels in six months!

You are wrong. Castillo has more takened out of him and he would get finished earlier the second time. Chico has been down and hurt before but not Castillo. He's the type that after it happeneds once it will be easier the next time. Aslo I am a Floyd fan but I can recognize a good fighter when I see one and he would KO Tszyu
