View Full Version : Chris Byrd still dodging Wladimir Klitschko
Torino 05-12-2005, 12:53 PM After refusing to fight Wladimir Klitschko, who's ranked #3 in the IBF behind Rahman and Barrett (who are fighting each other for the WBC intern title in July), I thought Byrd was going to redeem himself a little by fighting Toney. Due to Toney's suspension that's not going to happen.
This was a good opportunity for Byrd to man up and fight Wladimir, but he pussied out again and is scheduled to fight Serguei Lyakhovich (ranked 7 in the IBF) instead. Byrd continues to prove himself an unworthy "Paper Champion" and I hope Serguei Lyakhovich kicks his ass.
What do you think?

I think you should watch more boxing besides the Klits, & who effects them............
ZaneTeal 05-12-2005, 01:01 PM I think that three debatable decision wins are infinitely more impressive than getting starched by two no-hopers, and a close call against a guy who got knocked out in one round by the legendary Joe Mesi.
Didn't Wlad also fight some clown named Fabio?
Torino 05-12-2005, 01:07 PM I think you should watch more boxing besides the Klits, & who effects them............
That's a ridiculous comment. You couldn't possibly know how much boxing or what fights I watch. Only thing you can safely determine from my post is that I'm a Klitschko fan, Chris Byrd's a ***** and that's no secret. Maybe you should try watching the Klitschko's
The Fix 05-12-2005, 01:11 PM byrd wont fight wlad
wlad = high risk/low reward

They both docked Wlad, so why not let the two pu$$ies fight for the best pu$$Y :D

LOL yeah I agree. I even heard accounts that the Klitschko camp was trying to make another fight with Lyakhovich for this summer as an IBF title eliminator.
Byrd will more than likely not "man up" and fight Wlad. Like the fix mentioned, that would be high risk, low reward. Outside of many true klitschko fans, people still think Wlad is a dead man walking. If Byrd were to challenge him, he would lose the fight more than likely. Even if he beat him, he would not get the respect for doing so: Because people will point to Wlad being either washed up, or lacking stamina, or you know what I mean. Let the scared people fight eachother then, yes.
i think the reward for byrd would be a bigger payday than fighting most anyone else, especially the clowns he's been fighting
ejk22 05-12-2005, 03:35 PM I see Wlad facing the winner of Brewster vs Golota more than I see him facing the winner of Byrd vs Lyachovich. Especially if Golota wins, you know Don King is going to look to match the two big European white guys and try to cash in on them.
byrd wont fight wlad
wlad = high risk/low reward
ye tru say, also he is a *****, he says one thing does another. wlad schooled him in the first fight, n i can't imagine what byrd can do different, to win this one
Neuraxis 05-12-2005, 04:08 PM Wlad Doesn't Deserve a Title Shot...but Serguei Lyakhovich does? This is the same Lyakhovich who wasn't good enough to fight Wlad, but he is good enough to fight for a title. What has he done to deserve this? Beat Guinn who was nothing special to begin with? Who's next? Ahunanya? Byrd wants the tough fights. What a coward.

let me get this straight, byrd says wlad doesnt deserve a fight and instead he fights the guy who didnt dare fight wlad
byrd is the worst ***** in the hw.

Good point. One of them will be crowned the Heavyweight Paper Champion Pu$$y of the World. "IBF Incompetent ***** Federation"
Neuraxis 05-12-2005, 05:44 PM Just found this. Didn't see Spinx already posted it.
Lyakhovich to get Title Shot
Houston, TX-- Kenny Weldon, trainer of Heavyweight contender Sergei Lyakhovich, informed 15rounds.com tonite that Sergei's scheduled fight versus Vladamir Klitschko has been called off, "for a much bigger opportunity."
Dan Rafael of ESPN.com is reporting that Don King is putting together a fight card for July 23rd from New York's Madison Square Garden. Chris Byrd will defend his IBF title versus Lyakhovich and Hasim Rahman will face Monte Barrett for the WBC interim title. Javier Castillejo vs. Ricardo Mayroga and Zab Judah could also be on the card.
Just found this.
That is so lame. The Wlad fight will obviously never happen as long as we are alive.
The Troll 05-12-2005, 05:53 PM I see Wlad facing the winner of Brewster vs Golota more than I see him facing the winner of Byrd vs Lyachovich. Especially if Golota wins, you know Don King is going to look to match the two big European white guys and try to cash in on them.
Wlad would get knocked out by Golota and his management knows that so I dont think they are going to go out looking for a match up with Golota.
Noteworty sidenote Wladimir Klistchko challenged Golota to fight while Golota was still in retirement and Golota declined giving the reason that he was not in shape or prepared to take on such a challange. I dont think Golota vs Wlad would be a very interesting fight because Wlad would be knocked out on the first big punch Golota threw at him. If they fought in Germany which Golota would probably never agree too then Wlad would have a better chance because he seems more confident fighting there. But this would be one where Golota would be a big favorite like 6-1 odds.
If Golota wins the WBO belts and Wladimir gets back to #1 contender status anytime soon however they will be forced to fight each other.
Shaolin Bushido 05-12-2005, 05:54 PM I don't think Byrd wants to fight him OR risk giving him a shot at his title.
Vlad doesn't deserve a shot, either.
The Troll 05-12-2005, 05:56 PM Wlad is an easy matchup for Golota. The type of fighter I would say that could give the biggest problems too are fast handed boxers like Toney. And big big punchers like Vitali Klistchko that have a decent jaw.
Golota vs Vitali Klistchko would be a very cool fight though. Golota might get very psyched up and hit the juice and bring the fight to V Klistchko you never know.
It would be very entertaining to Watch Golota and V Klistchko stand in there just trade shots in an electric atmosphere, you would have to buy a ticket for that one.

You talk as if Golota is already a champ!
First he has to go through Brewster..
And Frankly, I don't see that happening.

Who has he beaten? As someone mentioned "His biggest Wins, are his loss to Bowe" He couldn't handle neither Ruiz, nor Byrd. (And quick chirping that he was robbed)
Golota gets KOed by either of the Klitschkos. This is just my opinion and I'll back it up with every single point I have at the time of the fight!
"Golota would be a big favorite like 6-1 odds." What are you talking about???
Obviously you know nothing about betting and you showed that in another thread where you talked about Trinidad/Wright bets...
First he has to go through Brewster..
And Frankly, I don't see that happening.
Its not going to happen yes. You are right. Lets also not forget about Lamon being Rodney Dangerfielded in the division.
The Troll 05-12-2005, 06:16 PM whatever
Think whatever you want. No way could Wladimir Klistchko compete with Golota. Like I said Wlad would fall down after the first punch Golota lands.

Listen, I don't mean to beat up on Golota, nor am I trying to support the Klitschkos..
Golota is a great warrior and I'll never take that away from him. I just don't believe he can do what you say he can
The Pretender 05-12-2005, 07:25 PM Byrd is a coward that won't fight Ruiz or Vitali. He's just ducking hoping that either or both are taken out somehow by other opposition. He took the Toney fight immediately after he thought Toney won the belt because he figured he could beat Toney. Now that Ruiz has the belt again, he suddenly is fighting a nobody! And Vitali never had the balls to fight Ruiz either so he needs to man up as well.
byrd is a *****, byrd is gona face sergei, n this gy hasn't beat ne1 to deserve a shot.
Truth 05-12-2005, 07:40 PM Why does Wlad deserve a shot at a title right now anyways?
The Pretender 05-12-2005, 07:50 PM Why does Wlad deserve a shot at a title right now anyways?
Why not? Byrd's cowardly ass so afraid of him for some reason. That alone should get him a shot. Champs are supposed to fight their toughest enemies and Wlad beat the tar out of Byrd once already.
Neuraxis 05-12-2005, 07:51 PM Why does Wlad deserve a shot at a title right now anyways?
He deserves it just as much if not more than everyone else who has been getting shots recently.

He deserves it more that the guy Byrd is going to fight July 23rd I will admit that.
ObtuseBoxer 05-12-2005, 08:56 PM The Heavyweight division is a bad joke...Byrd wont fight a legit contender..Ruiz wins when he is beaten ( what did this loser do to get these gifts)...Toney is just a loser...What 36 year old pro athlete gets busted for roids OMFG...VK better do something quick to prove himself !

Torino, I read these words. You always write true words! Wladimir deserves to fight for the championship, and you have told the truth why he deserves. He is a champion and a gold medal champion too!
Everyone is scared to fight Wladimir especially after Wladimir's new victory. All the fighters and their fans are scared. I know this! Wladimir looked very good. Wladimir will be champion again! Wladimir has many knockouts! He will knockout many more people too!!! Wladimir will be champion again!!!

Frierui can you name one occasion when Golota was "KTFO" except against Lewis when he was doped on Lidocaine and awarded 950k in damages. What makes you think Wlad would be the first one to do it.
Side effects of improper Lidocaine dosing to the vein
Anxiety, nervousness
chest pain, irregular heartbeat
difficulty breathing, wheezing
dizziness, drowsiness
headache
nausea vomitting
seizures
trembling shaking
unusual weakness or tiredness

Freirue would you like to give me one good reason why Wlad would be the first one in history to be able to knock Golota out cold legitimately. Freurui Golota has never legitimately been knocked out in over 40 fights. I see no reason why Wlad would be the first one to do it.
Golota was knocked down once by Bowe
Golota wa knocked down once by Pouha (I think)
Golota was knocked down by Mike Tyson
Golota was knocked down by Michael Grant

I admit Golota has a self defeating personality disorder and Wlad's only chance in beating Golota is that flaw prevails yet again.

The point is Vitali was boxing Byrd with one arm and clearly man handling him. WHile GOlota had the pleasure of both his arms he still couldn't win.
DOnt make me bring up the extensive and pathetic record of Golota's. Atleast Wlad and Vitali have some big wins on there records, and achieved far more than Golota could ever dream.
draco33 05-12-2005, 11:28 PM Who said anything about Vitali?
I thought you were trying to prove a point about Wlad.
And lets count how many fights Wlad was knocked down in?
Sanders. And you can argue the Brewster fight.
That makes 2. Shorter list.
Don't get me wrong though I think it would be a great fight, but Wlad would keep him on the outside with his jab a night long. Till the "foul pole" get frustrated and A)quits (ie Tyson) B)gets DQ'ed (Ruiz).
The guy just isn't right in the head. (then again look at Tyson)
The Pretender 05-12-2005, 11:28 PM Golota has never beat anyone of any repute and loses every major fight he is in. Then he cries about it like a baby. That guy has serious emotional problems and needs to go hang out with Tyson.

You notice vs John Ruiz and Chris Byrd Golota throws a total of about 10 straight left hands his former trade mark punch. Golotas shoulder is shot. His dexterity with his left arm is very limited.
However I contend that this version of Golota with no left arm is still good enough to beat Wlad Klistchko. Golota fights on and continues his boxing career even after dehabiliting injury.
The Pretender 05-12-2005, 11:33 PM Golota should join the special olympics if he's handicapped. You don't hear Ruiz whining about his injuries. He's a warrior that's why.

When did Golota ever whine about his injuries. He never does. He never even talks about it, only his management, the press, and his trainer do. He fights on despite dehabiliting injury like a true champ to win the WBO title in less than 2 weeks.

Torino 05-13-2005, 12:46 AM Uh, he didnt' knock Mercer out cold. You mean OUT COLD as in unconscious?
No, that didnt' happen.

Ok ....... well if that's not enough, what would he have to do to earn your respect?
The Pretender 05-13-2005, 12:53 AM When did Golota ever whine about his injuries. He never does. He never even talks about it, only his management, the press, and his trainer do. He fights on despite dehabiliting injury like a true champ to win the WBO title in less than 2 weeks.
Well you are whining about his injuries. Golota cries about it. I can't believe you obsession with a fighter like Golota who crumples every time he is truly tested. Golota is an emotional trainwreck. A true champ must have a great heart, courage, and mind. Like Holyfield and Ruiz.

Check out www.johnquietmanruiz.com blog. I'm his #1 fan. Ruiz is talked about a lot because he's the top champ today and a great fighter. Make his website your homepage.

The Pretender 05-13-2005, 02:11 AM Put Ruiz on the list. He's the greatest champ!
Neuraxis 05-13-2005, 02:32 AM Barrett? Well, he had 4 inches and 40 pounds on him so what's the trick?
Try 23 lbs.

I cant believe you just put John Ruiz on the same level as Evander Holyfield.
The Pretender 05-13-2005, 02:51 AM I cant believe you just put John Ruiz on the same level as Evander Holyfield.
They have lots of similarities. Similar win-loss-draw records. Same heart and courage. Both never duck anyone and will fight anyone anytime anywhere. And Holyfield knows how to clinch in a fight like how he beat Tyson every time. Holyfield and Ruiz were probably brothers in a past life.
ejk22 05-13-2005, 10:07 AM Yeah just like Golota walked through the guy on the left...

If you remember Golota was defeating Grant on all three judges scorecards by decent margins he just quit after being knocked down and was not seriously hurt by the knockdown because he got back up right away. Golota's worst opponent is his psyche. If he stuck around in the Tyson fight he would have probably beat Tyson because Tyson was breathing heavy already and it was only a matter of time before his lack of stamina would have caught up to him. Golota has inner demons and they have prevented him from becoming a great champion.
ejk22 05-13-2005, 10:16 AM Golota should join the special olympics if he's handicapped. You don't hear Ruiz whining about his injuries. He's a warrior that's why.
Please give me a ****ing break with your bull**** about Ruiz Juse888, This ****ing waste of space Ruiz, lost to two former middleweights and has no boxing skills whatsoever he has hugging skills that have helped him receive bull**** decisions because the ****ing judges fall asleep from boredom. Toney's sretoid use had nothing to do with the fact that he wiped the mat with your boy.

Toney knew he couldn't beat Ruiz so he cheated. Cheating never pays. Ruiz the true champ.
marvdave 05-13-2005, 12:33 PM I don't know about fighting Ruiz first, but I agree he should fight Ruiz also. I'm surprised he agreed to fight Toney.
Byrds looking to cash in, and Toney is the biggest money fight. Both being from Detroit. They can have the fight there in their hometown. Byrd is a joke.
GranTorino 05-13-2005, 12:34 PM After refusing to fight Wladimir Klitschko, who's ranked #3 in the IBF behind Rahman and Barrett (who are fighting each other for the WBC intern title in July), I thought Byrd was going to redeem himself a little by fighting Toney.
At this point, you should not be the least bit surprised to see Byrd ***** out of a fight with Wlad.
Neuraxis 05-13-2005, 02:25 PM If you remember Golota was defeating Grant on all three judges scorecards by decent margins he just quit after being knocked down and was not seriously hurt by the knockdown because he got back up right away. Like I've said before, until Golota has proven that he's over doing that, I'm not going to be sold on him. Wlad is worlds better than Grant, so I don't see why the same thing wouldn't happen.

I guess you missed memo, Byrd is fighting Lyakhovich not Toney.
marvdave 05-13-2005, 06:17 PM I guess you missed memo, Byrd is fighting Lyakhovich not Toney.
:D I'll make the jokes around here
I think what I meant is when Byrd decides to fight someone with a heartbeat, it will be Toney, not a Clitschko for the reasons I stated. Make sure you put me on the memo list for future ref, so I can avoid embarrassing myself again. :D
