View Full Version : its offical, toney fined n suspended
changed to know decision as well
According to the Fight Fax web site’s suspension list, James “Lights Out” Toney has been suspended for 90 days and fined $10,000 for testing positive for a banned substance. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, his April 30 WBA title-winning victory over John Ruiz has been changed to a No Decision. While the implications of this decision are not known, the most likely scenario will see the title returned to Ruiz outright. Toney will apparently be re-tested after his 90-day suspension is served

.::|ULTIMATE|::. 05-11-2005, 08:59 PM 10,000 dollars and 90 day suspension.... lol thats not even a slap on the wrist. Toney wouldnt fight within 90 days anyway. 10,000 is nothing to a fighter earning millions dollars paycheck like toney.

If I would have told you a month ago that Ruiz would retire, Toney-Byrd would be signed, Ruiz would comeback, Toney would test positive for steroids and get suspended and Ruiz would be champ again you would have said I was crazy. LOL :D

No kidding--this puts boxing on par with big business for ridiculously stupid fine and penalties for wrongdoings. Reputation aside (and we all know how little that matters in boxing) how does this hurt Toney at all?
