GL: Roy, you're sleeping on a bed of money right now. You've really got nothing left to prove, why even entertain the notion of coming back to fight?
RJ: "You're absolutely right, I don't have nothing to prove and I've accomplished what I've wanted to accomplish, but man you know when you do something for so long, and it's come so easy to you that you lose interest, you need to take a break."
GL: Tarver-Johnson, what do you think about that fight?
RJ: "I don't care!"
GL: Who do you think will win the fight?
RJ: "I don't care!"
GL: What if the winner of that fight wanted to make it happen?
RJ: (laughs) "Now I'm getting hype G, I'm gonna tell ya, if the winner of that fights mentions fighting me, I'm coming back E-meddiately. Did you hear that right? IMMEDIATELY!"

I like roy but he is gonna end up like holyfield
jack_the_rippuh 11-29-2004, 11:18 PM he is gonna get beat again for sure, roy should change his style or give up and go take care of the family
I like roy but he is gonna end up like holyfield
Speaking of Holyfield, I also read on that site that he's going to be commentating an upcoming fight, I wonder if his slurred speech will permit him to effectively or will he talk about a punch 5 minutes are the fact..
borikua 11-29-2004, 11:32 PM Roy talking **** like always...
Deejay 11-29-2004, 11:33 PM I hope he comes back and destroys everyone. Boxing isn't the same without him. I just hope he wins cos it's painful to see Superman get KTFO!!!
paulmmv 11-30-2004, 01:53 AM jones jr will box again and will lose just as bad as he did the last time
jujitsujn 11-30-2004, 02:28 AM I think Roy can still be effective. Only time will tell. I like him, I like his style of fighting.

Yo, Rippuh you left out a part of that interview that made me laugh so d*mn hard, Roy had also mentioned that there was no good matches out there for him, and later on he answers as you had posted he mentions that he'll return in a heartbeat if Tarver or Johnson demanded a rematch. Man those f**kin' concussions do a number on ones head. Man, everybody knows that Tarver and Johnson would not even bother fighting each other if Roy didn't go on a sabbatical .
Ivansmamma 11-30-2004, 04:51 AM Roy should keep quiet he got beaten by both.
puppy_dogg 11-30-2004, 05:00 AM Roy talking **** like always...
yep, thats basicly all it is. im a big roy fan and id like to see him leave on top, part of me is curious to see him back in the ring later on but i feel sure it would'nt be good. :(
plexmc 11-30-2004, 05:03 AM i'm down with pualmmv........F all roy haters he is still pfp the best boxer in the sport........PS Yall must of forgot
PacKillsMorales 11-30-2004, 05:14 AM we didnt forget..
if i was him id fight clinton woods, then joe calzaghe
if he cant get past woods though he should retire for good
puppy_dogg 11-30-2004, 05:19 AM he already beat woods, 7th round tko.
FightFan214 11-30-2004, 05:35 AM I like Roy but his time has passed and he no longer has it in my opinion. He should stay with his music biz and commentating which hes very good at.
PacKillsMorales 11-30-2004, 05:43 AM he already beat woods, 7th round tko.
But that was before he got ktfo twice
also woods survived johnson twice recently
jabsRstiff 11-30-2004, 06:53 AM Speaking of Holyfield, I also read on that site that he's going to be commentating an upcoming fight, I wonder if his slurred speech will permit him to effectively or will he talk about a punch 5 minutes are the fact..
Judging by this post, I think Jack is already punchy.
Say.....................what ?
jack_the_rippuh 11-30-2004, 10:52 AM Judging by this post, I think Jack is already punchy.
Say.....................what ?
Will he be good at what he's trying to do. That's basically the question..
P@pasmurf 11-30-2004, 11:17 AM Roy should keep quiet he got beaten by both.
maybe im in the minority, but i think if roy comes back to face either of these lower-tier fighters, he will win.
borikua 11-30-2004, 10:15 PM By G. Leon
GL: What's good Roy? What did you think about the heavyweights?
RJ: "Everything's good G. Leon. I thought it was a pretty good show, Byrd fought valiantly and I'm just here in NYC enjoying myself baby"
GL: Are you surprised that John Ruiz hasn't lost since you embarrassed him?
RJ: "Naw because I always knew that boy could fight, that's why we chose him. He's a very tough fighter with realy sneaky power and if you don't come ready and prepared against him, he's going to beat you."
GL: Do you ever regret leaving the heavyweight division?
RJ: "Well you know, it's something that can't be changed but I don't regret anything, but I'm not saying I would have done anything different though."
"Right now I'm just going to take some time off and do my thang. There's nothing out there that's getting me excited right now, so I'm just going to take some time to get right, and we'll see if something comes along that brings me out of retirement"
GL: Out of retirement? Does that mean you're officially retired?
RJ: (laughs) "Like I said, I'm going to take some time off and do my thang. Right now I'm not thinking about boxing but if something big comes along I may decide to come back."

GL: You heard it here first people, Roy is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
RJ: "Everybody needs to go out and cop that Body Head Bangerz album...
GL: (cutting in) The single (I smoke, I drink) is hot right now, but you don't smoke or drink what's up with that?
RJ: (laughs)
GL: Anything else in closing?
RJ: "Yeah I want to thank everyone for their continued support, we're going to continue to do it big right here on **********.com so keep reading my man G. 'Leoney'. I'm still the best out there, you'll see."
MlLkMan 11-30-2004, 10:24 PM nice interview.
The Fix 11-30-2004, 10:32 PM ive heard roy didnt train for johnson but its probably an excuse.im glad to see roy has hung up the gloves and has done the right thing instead of hanging on like vander and bowe.roy has said he will fight the winner of the tarver/johnson fight if they mention his name, which i think is a good idea if he is indeed still as good as he says he is. if roy could muster a comeback like that and defeat the winner it would be the perfect ending for a great fighter
jack_the_rippuh 11-30-2004, 10:35 PM I already posted that on another thread, well just the important parts, you're late..
P.S. That boxer named Tito Trinidad sucks..
P@pasmurf 11-30-2004, 10:42 PM RJJ is gonna storm tha house, *****
simeraksou 11-30-2004, 10:50 PM ive heard roy didnt train for johnson but its probably an excuse.im glad to see roy has hung up the gloves and has done the right thing instead of hanging on like vander and bowe.roy has said he will fight the winner of the tarver/johnson fight if they mention his name, which i think is a good idea if he is indeed still as good as he says he is. if roy could muster a comeback like that and defeat the winner it would be the perfect ending for a great fighter
yeah i agree. that'd be a huge a fight and it'd be sweeeet. i wonder if he should beat both of them though? fight the winner of the tarver-johnson fight then fight the loser.
The Fix 11-30-2004, 10:54 PM ^^^^^ i think him facing the winner would be good enough but im not sold on anything happening
tys0n 11-30-2004, 11:53 PM if hes going to fight the winner of tarver-johnson, maybe he should focus on boxing instead of promoting his CD.
acquitted 12-01-2004, 07:47 AM roy is done..hes not quick or light footed anymore...a prime roy would have raped johnson...easily
roy's time is up... if that's not obvious after his last 3 fights, then you're just fooling yourself, just like jones is... he's going to be the next holyfield, if he keeps this up... i wonder if he feels that holy should retire?
BiggestBoxingFanEver 12-01-2004, 09:55 AM I think Roy could still be champ. Much like Ali had his before and his after the whole Vietnam boxing ban. He had two different fighting sytles. The first style was to dance and be hard to hit, the second was obsorbe punishment until his opponent tired some.
Roy was use to using his speed/feet to avoid getting hit, he's gotta change his style and learn how to block. The blow that came from Johnson, he turned his head away from the punch rather than block. As a result he got lumped on the side of the head. So, if Roy changes his style and relys less on his feet, I think he could regain and hold the light-heavy title for another couple years.
aaalex 12-01-2004, 06:06 PM Roy does not want to fight more.
If he will leave, he can lose again...!
