EXCLUSIVE: Freddie Roach Speaks on James Toney’s Possible Use of Banned Substance

“I have not spoken with James lately, but I did hear about ten minutes ago that there were reports on the internet that James may have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.” When asked if he knew of any history with Toney using such drugs Roach replied, “Not at all.” Laughing, Roach continued, “James doesn’t really look like a guy using steroids. I know steroids make you bigger and stronger, but I really question these allegations.” ********** asked Roach if he knew who would be the mostly likely source for giving Toney performing enhancing drugs, to which Roach said, “I have no idea. I know when he had his bicep tear during the Rydell Booker fight last September he was dealing with doctors and surgeons, but that is the only medical treatment that I know of since that fight.” Before Roach got back to what he does best, he reiterated to ********** by saying, “I’m thinking this is not true. It would be a shame if it were.”

Obviously Freddy Roach doesn't know much about steroids (or he's hoping the people listening to what he says don't?).

One of the things that steroids can do, is make your body regenerate faster, and with Toney's history of muscle and tendon tears, it is VERY likely that he's guilty. On thop of that he's a small guy in the HW division, which gives him plenty of incentive to grow some muscle mass. The fact that he is fat doesn't mean he doesn't look like a steroid user, that is completely beside the point, as anyone with half a brain should know. I actually used to think Roach was a pretty smart guy, which those statements prove he's not. Sad...

Roach can't be badmouthing his fighter. It's not good for his relationship with Toney or his other fighters he trains or future clients.

This was some PR spin, and given the fact that the steroids haven't been made public, it was the best a journalist could come up with to put his name on.

Until is official that James Toney did somthing wrong take this all as innocent till proven definitley guilty.

They're commonly prescribed for **** like muscle tears which Toney had.(biceps and achilles)
