I need some advice, It's hard to explain but about a year and a half ago I got 2 speeding tickets in one month. I payed one and desputed thge other. Because of a new "Graduated licensing progam" that was implemented a few years ago, my license was prohibited for a second time. I wrote a good letter had it reduced to one month AND I DRIVED THE WHOLE TIME.

Well, it's a years and a half later and It's coming back to hit me in the ass. If I lose in court, I will get probhibited again for no less than 3 to 6 months and I will lose my job.

I have to explain to the judge that I have changed and never speed (which is true) and nailing me with this ***** of a charge will only destroy me financially, not teach me a lesson. I have enroled in a defencive driving program to make it look like I give a ****. Anyway, ultimately I'm asking advice on how to communicate this to the judge with out making him think I'm full of ****. I've been before judges before and I know how authoritarian they can be.

i'd tell you to take the bus if i were the judge.

I know that it's ****ed up but dress as nice as you can. It makes a difference, I promise.

Its not about trying to show that you are a rich buisnessman or something, its about showing that you have respect for their court.
Do it and it will help.

Also say "Yes, Your honor" or "No, Your Honor", try and put "Your honor" after everything you possibly can.

The second is to retake English class. I don't say much on here about spelling errors or grammatical errors because this is just a "for fun" posting site. But if you talk like you write, you won't be taken as seriously. How people present themselves by their dress, speech and body language can make a huge difference.

For the record, judges are in a huge position of authority because they worked hard to get there. It is there JOB to be authoritarian.

Last, change your attitude.

Attitude is everything, pick a good one. Your life will better for it in the long run.

And I'm going to take your advice on taking another few english courses. I actually enrolled in an essay writing course last week and I'm also going to take a spelling course which is pretty much an entire course based on spelling. So I'm working on it.


It went very well actually. I made sure I ran into the officer just when he got there adn explained to him my situation and that my driving habits are completely different now and he said he would tell the judge he's terminating the ticket or whatever. So I'm pretty happy about that. Now I can take the drivers test and not be in such jeopardy if I get another ticket.

I noticed that you skipped over the attitude part...lol.

Seriously, if you have really changed your driving habits, then I'm happy for you. I'm teaching my 17 yr old daughter to drive right now. Her sister has been driving for just over a year and has three accidents in a ten month period. None of them her fault, thankfully. Insurance rates are high enough.

Do yourself a favor, pay attention for real in that driving class. You'll be surprised how much you can really learn. I took one when I got a ticket years ago and learned quite a bit.

Ya the road is a dangerous place. I actually consider myself a good driver. I've taken Road saftey and crash rescue training courses with the fire department, I just used to have a speeding problem. It's actually kind of annoying because when you go the speed limit it seems like your being passed all the time.

The only advice I have is ... it's DROVE THE WHOLE TIME! Not "drived the whole time"

Ahhh ****, after reading this thread, I'm seeing that you already took care of it. You ****. And here I was thinking I could give some advice. Being as tho I currently have about 3 tickets pending, 4 harsh ones that came back from the past that just ****ed my driving record, so yeah. But oh well, I guess I'm still a useless piece of ****.
