Truth 05-09-2005, 06:18 PM Name some currently active fighters you think will make good trainers after they retire. I think Bernard Hopkins could be a great trainer... SacTown1 05-09-2005, 06:20 PM I think Bernard Hopkins could be a great trainer... the best fighters-turned-trainers are usually guys who had moderate success but failed vs. the elite level fighters, sooooooo Paulie Ayala could be good, I always thought Reggie Johnson would be a great trainer, possibly Sharmba Mitchell Exciterx24 05-09-2005, 06:20 PM Name some currently active fighters you think will make good trainers after they retire. Roy Jones will be one for sure. Trinidad could be too and Hopkins. Jack, remember our bet, ok? The Pretender 05-09-2005, 06:21 PM Ruiz going to be an awesome trainer when he really retires. He'll make someone else a champ someday. Sugar Ray a ****ty trainer. Look at Contender. SacTown1 05-09-2005, 06:33 PM Roy Jones will be one for sure. Trinidad could be too and Hopkins. Jack, remember our bet, ok? Those guys are gifted athletes, it would be hard for any of them to train guys who don't have the physical gifts that they used to have.... it's kinda like how Michael Jordan could never be a good baskeball coach, how could the players ever be as good as he was? joeboxer 05-09-2005, 07:00 PM Roy Jones will be one for sure. Trinidad could be too and Hopkins. Jack, remember our bet, ok? Roy Jones and Tridad would suck as trainers. Granted Roy is a ggod commentator but you can't teach people how to have speed or power. If Roy said Hey throw a combo like me "Start with a left hook and then when they throw back out you just lean straight back" his fighters would get knocked the **** out. Same with Trinidad. Except instead of Speed it's power. The Fix 05-09-2005, 07:01 PM bernard hopkins comes to mind winky wright would be a good trainer because he could teach his defense chris byrds father is a trainer and i guess its in his blood so he might be a good trainer as well. Alpha Male 05-09-2005, 08:49 PM Mike Tyson would be a good trainer. :D RwK 05-09-2005, 08:51 PM Evander Holyfield Kostya Tszyu---------(for damn sure) M.A.B.----------(for damn sure) Round 1 05-09-2005, 09:43 PM James Leija is currently training some fighters in San Antonio. jack_the_rippuh 05-09-2005, 09:54 PM Roy Jones will be one for sure. Trinidad could be too and Hopkins. Jack, remember our bet, ok? Yeah I got 5 million with you and 10 million with Borikua. I think James Toney and Bernard Hopkins, especially Bernard Hopkins, could make good trainers, if not...definately good assistants. They know all the little tricks. shemmue 05-10-2005, 07:55 PM pernell whitaker jesse james leija PessimisticPug 05-10-2005, 08:18 PM Being a good fighter is one thing, being a good trainer is another. All good fighters will posses certain skills or specialtys that most people just dont posses. The thing that makes a great trainer is not only possesing the knowledge of the game as the good fighters do, but being able to express and teach the intracacies is what sets them apart. Alot of guys know the skills but are unable to articulate the process or reasoning..........Rockin' :boxing: Round 1 05-10-2005, 09:54 PM Being a good fighter is one thing, being a good trainer is another. He'll make someone else a champ someday. And he can teach them to clinch and hug each other for consolement when they turn out to be crappy pros Round 1 05-10-2005, 10:17 PM And he can teach them to clinch and hug each other for consolement when they turn out to be crappy pros What the Pretender meant to say was that Ruiz will make an awesome Salsa dance trainer/instructor. |
