who do you all think would come out on top? I know it would be a slugfest and would most def end in a KO. Things to consider here would be chin, power, and heart! i am sstill up in the air about it.

This would be a tough fight, and it would not go the distance. A real slugfest.

Why Dempsey would win:
He was faster than Marciano, was a little bit bigger and had better skills. Further, Dempsey feared no man and always came out looking to hurt his foe.
His handspeed would frustrate Marciano as he would beat him to the punch and possibly inflict serious damage because of his massive power. Plus, Marciano was cut easy, and this could very well force the ref to stop the fight after a few rounds.

Why Marciano would win:
This fight would be a real slugfest and its outcome would not depend so much on skill, but rather power, chin, stamina and heart. And Marciano gets the nod on all of them. He could hit harder than could Dempsey, this is something even Dempsey himself was quoted saying. His chin was made of iron. I have seen him take a terrible beating without even looking hurt. Dempsey had a decent chin also, but he was knocked out, something Marciano never was. Marciano definitely had the better stamina, something that would force Dempsey to get Marciano out of there early. They both had tremendous heart.

The fight as I see it:
Dempsey would come out fast and furious. He would hit the slow starting Marciano from all angles and force him to cover up. The first two rounds belongs to Dempsey. But then Marciano would land a few of his own shots as he starts to find his rythm. As anyone who have seen Marciano fight would know, he got better during the fight. Dempsey on the other hand would start to tire, and this would spell disaster for "The Manessa Mauler".

With more power and a better chin, Marciano would hurt Dempsey more than the other way around, and I cannot imagine Dempsey lasting more than 4-5 rounds in this one. He would never give up, so the ref would be the one halting the bout. One thing is for sure - both men would need a doctor after this fight!

the rock wins by KTFO, when dempsey knocked a guy out it would take 3 or 4 knockdowns ( or seven + if he was fighting jess willard ) to get his opponent out of there. rocky's knockouts were 1 punch ( the right cross ) KTFOs. marciano by late KTFO

Both were extremely hard hitters; both relentless; Dempsey has the edge in accuracy and precision, but I'll give Marciano power; Marciano's heat will have a huge role.

Either Marciano brutalizes Dempsey with a KO around the 10th round, or Dempsey's accuracy, precision, and power cut up Marciano's face real bad, leaving the ref to stop the fight. Either way, Marciano's heart plays a big role.

Dempsey decisions the Rock after a fifteen round donnybrook (or stops him on cuts) with both guys seeing the canvas in the process.

With power just about equal, Dempsey's fleetness of foot and quicker hands give him the edge. I think Dempsey inevitably mixes it up with Marciano and then goes into boxing mode once he realizes just how strong he is. Then again, once you go into the late rounds, Marciano's stamina advantage will start to really show.

Difficult to say because both guys were hard as nails, could really punch, had underrated skills, and knew how to fight dirty. Marciano was more prone to cuts which is something to consider.

true they are bigger, more muscled with modern training, but dont forget, at the time there was like 3 times as many fighters and 1 saction body, which means the skills was lot better.
