Mccline roughed Byrd up a bit as well did Barrett. The Troll 05-09-2005, 11:02 AM People say on here alot that Aaron Pryor used to beat up on Sugar Ray Leonard in sparring. legend 05-09-2005, 11:09 AM I bet it gets annoying when you're the champ and practically every sparring partner you hire tries to take advantage of the opportunity to make a name for himself by dominating you in training. I'd be knockin out my sparring partners for real if I was champ. jack_the_rippuh 05-09-2005, 12:05 PM You would get nothing out of that, though. Sometimes when you're sparring you try to train for certain things, like head movement and countering with straight shots only or defense and jabbing, knocking them out just to prevent them from not spreading the word would be a waste of time kind of. legend 05-09-2005, 12:06 PM You would get nothing out of that, though. Yeah I know. It wouldn't solve anything as far as training goes. I was just being sarcastic. joeboxer 05-09-2005, 12:09 PM Holyfield got Owned by Bowe who was his sparring partner. Ali got Owned by Holmes who was his sparring partner. The Pretender 05-09-2005, 12:54 PM Sparring with headgear is *****. Real champions don't do that ****. Dio2 05-09-2005, 04:35 PM Sparring with headgear is *****. Real champions don't do that ****. Are you crazy? Why would those guys take years off their career just to seem tough? Most guys use headgear in sparring. Unless you think Ali and Tzsyu are b***es. Tha Greatest 05-09-2005, 04:38 PM I hear Kid Diamond knocked Mayweather down in a sparring session McCline sparred Brock for his fight with Byrd and Brock had to fight southpaw and McCline knocked him down but Brock showed him whos really bigtime in fight night The Fix 05-09-2005, 04:38 PM toney got owed by dany green tyson got owned before his fight with douglas( he got knocked down for first time) SacTown1 05-09-2005, 04:39 PM Holyfield got Owned by Bowe who was his sparring partner. Ali got Owned by Holmes who was his sparring partner. Holyfield got smashed up by Gary Bell before the Tyson fights.... Tyson got dropped by Greg Page in Tokyo before the Douglas fight.... I imagine that JL Castillo gave Chavez some tough rounds.... Vargas said that Ishe Smith was better than most of his previous opponents... Did you know Willie Jorrin got owned by some amateurs at my old gym? LOL! The Pretender 05-09-2005, 04:40 PM Are you crazy? Why would those guys take years off their career just to seem tough? The sparring partners should wear gear since they getting beat up but the fighters need to toughen themselves and build a chin and not use gear. I dunno if you jokin or not but the more u get hit in the chin, the weaker it gets LOL SacTown1 05-09-2005, 04:42 PM Did you know Willie Jorrin got owned by some amateurs at my old gym? LOL! I believe it, Jorrin was a lazy-a$$ in sparring, what a waste of talent! paul750 05-09-2005, 04:43 PM Holyfield got smashed up by Gary Bell before the Tyson fights.... ... i find it hard to believe that holyfield got smashed up by gary bell, maybe knocked down, but surely no more than that Tha Greatest 05-09-2005, 04:44 PM I believe it, Jorrin was a lazy-a$$ in sparring, what a waste of talent! LoL This was a few months ago, hahaha He came to my gym a few months ago then he quit comin after a week unless he left the gym cuz he didnt like it(which I didnt so I left to) SacTown1, You know Horatio Garcia? The Pretender 05-09-2005, 04:46 PM I dunno if you jokin or not but the more u get hit in the chin, the weaker it gets LOL No way its like muai thai boxing. They keep kicking wooden poles and hard leather bags so the blade of the shin gets covered in cartilage for leg strikes in matches. Same concept for the chin. Look at Hopkins chin how square and thick it is from cartilage build up. SacTown1 05-09-2005, 04:46 PM Holy said it at the post-fight press conference, that nothing that Tyson did was a surprise because Bell hit him just as hard and more often than Tyson did.... I had a hard time believing it too, but that's what the Real Deal thought SacTown1 05-09-2005, 04:48 PM LoL This was a few months ago, hahaha He came to my gym a few months ago then he quit comin after a week unless he left the gym cuz he didnt like it(which I didnt so I left to) SacTown1, You know Horatio Garcia? I think I've seen garcia fight at the Radisson once or twice, don't know him personally though.... here's one for ya, best fight nobody remembers in Sac: Chico Corrales vs. Gary St. Claire, at the Hornet's Nest at Sac State in '98, there were about 900 people there, Chico dominated for 12 rounds in his first televised fight (on ESPN2) The Pretender 05-09-2005, 04:50 PM Holy said it at the post-fight press conference, that nothing that Tyson did was a surprise because Bell hit him just as hard and more often than Tyson did.... I had a hard time believing it too, but that's what the Real Deal thought Holy is way overrated. All he ever does is throw that huge scalp into peoples faces to win matches on cuts. He deserved losing his ear to tyson. May 27th at Arco man, I'll be in the house, plus in July I'm gonna head to that Sam Peter fight in Reno, don't talk trash to me though or else my wife will beat you down, she's a bad mamma jamma :) Darth Warrior 05-09-2005, 05:05 PM toney got owed by dany green tyson got owned before his fight with douglas( he got knocked down for first time) Are you joking? Toney beat the **** out of Danny Green. You must not have seen it, for you to say that. The only thing Danny Green did that was impressive is not go down or quit when he had a broken nose and was getting slammed hard. And Toney wasn't even trying most of the time either. He just let Danny throw punches cause they couldn't do **** to him. Its not as if he is really gettin owned though. I guarantee if he didnt feel ablidged not to hurt anyone and if he was being paid for the fight he could do every sparring partner. He gets owned though. U learn better from punishment/mistakes rather than reward/positive things psychologists believe though! thats probably y he brings in hard opposition. Ruiz. That's crap. Clinching is better than low blows and head butts. The Fix 05-09-2005, 06:38 PM Are you joking? Toney beat the **** out of Danny Green. Zab Super Judah 05-09-2005, 06:39 PM toney looked too lazy when they sparred, i thought green did a very good job. i have seen the clips but toney wasnt impressive at all. toney wasnt even trying .. he could have decapitated green's head if he wanted to he was jus beaten him alittle at a time.....toney would crush a 168 pounder in green Zab Super Judah 05-09-2005, 06:40 PM i heard judah got killed by mayweather in a sparring session The Pretender 05-09-2005, 06:44 PM toney wasnt even trying .. he could have decapitated green's head if he wanted to he was jus beaten him alittle at a time.....toney would crush a 168 pounder in green Yeah right Toney never would see 168 lbs after his fat ass entered the ring at 230 against Ruiz. And thats just sour grapes anyway because no fighter just plays with his opponent instead of trying to lay him out asap. Ruiz would beat any champ from Hopkins on down but that doesnt prove anything. onetwopunch 05-09-2005, 09:14 PM I heard DLH got owned by James Page one time in sparring. Page caught him with a left hook to the body that made DLH fold. pug1986 05-09-2005, 09:23 PM well Ali would literally get sparring partners to beat the crap out of him until he could take a punch, he was ko'd in sparring on more than one occasion while training for the Foreman fight. (at least according to Norman Mailer, whos word I trust anyway) BBFM 05-09-2005, 09:38 PM See Evander headbutts his way to victory, Golota busts balls, and who gets blamed for fighting dirty? Ruiz.
