View Full Version : Can there be a fight greater then JLC-Corrales? AintGottaClue 05-08-2005, 09:36 AM is it possible? or was that fight the absolute max u can get from a boxing match. The Troll 05-08-2005, 09:42 AM Yeah it is possible, if Castillo and Corrales rematch and they fight the exact same way as the first but the fight goes 12 rounds instead of 10 and does not end in controversial stoppage. But I dont know 3 knockdowns in 1 round was pretty amazing. I dont think anybody was expecting Corrales even to survive round 10 let alone stop Castillo in the same round, shock ending. Corrales is great. joe kurtz 05-08-2005, 02:11 PM Anything is possible & one should never say never, but DAMN, I've been a die hard fan & been involved in the sport of boxing for the past 29 years & I've spent every waking moment since the referee embraced Castillo, stopping the contest, trying to come up with an equal or better fight & I can't do it. A couple of years ago, after Gatti - Ward I , I was convinced that we wouldn't see a fight as breathtaking as that for a long, long time... well, I was wrong. Not only was Carrales - Castillo better, but it blew it away! In my mind, the only way to come up with a fight as good as last night's fight would be to combine a couple-three classics, THEN you might have it's equal. So, let's see: - It had the intensity & the sheer savagry of the first first Ward-Gatti fight. - It also had the brutality of Hagler-Hearns with the drama of the cut threatening to stop the contest. - Then it had the multiple knockdowns & the horrible swellings suffered by the eventual winner of Kevin Kelly-Derrick Gainer I. Mix all those elements up from those classics & you MIGHT have a fight as good as last night's. Oh, and let's not forget the sportsmanship of Gatti-Ward as well. Slipx 05-08-2005, 02:18 PM the referee let him put his piece back in after being KD, so he had about 15 seconds to recover. while castillo was out on his feet, he regained his composure maybe 4-5 seconds after that. its really his fault for losing since he was on the ropes at the wrong time, though. Corrales was in way deeper trouble than castillo was, last time I bet on a fight with that ref reffing it. he shoulda stopped it after corrales went down the 2nd time if he was so humanistic, ****er is slow to stop it when corrales' brain is taking a beating, yet is quick to step in when castillo is about to go down for the first time in his career. i cant really disagree with that stoppage though, i mean castillo was taking power shots unconsciously standing up, that has death written all over it. Slipx 05-08-2005, 02:19 PM corrales is going to get *****ed in his next fight Tha Greatest 05-08-2005, 02:22 PM I betted on Castillo and the stoppage was good He wouldve been seriously hurt if it continued... Most referees wouldve stopped the fight a few rounds earlier lol That ref was the best!!!! mic573 05-08-2005, 02:30 PM This is the best fight I have ever seen live. Better than Gatti/Ward 1 and Barrera Morales 1 and 3. Gatti/Ward 1 was a great fight but I thought Barrera/Morales 1 was better. As far as pure toe to toe action from start to finish Corrales/Castillo is by far the better fight. In thier fight Gatti was outboxing Ward for the first 4 rounds and then they brawled for a couple of rounds and then Gatti was outboxing Ward again until the 9th round. About 6 or 7 rounds was mostly Gatti outboxing Ward. Corrales/Castillo is the better fight in my opinion and I even say that this is the FOTY because I don't see any fight being better than this. This fight goes down with some of the greatest fights ever in my opinion. Tha Greatest 05-08-2005, 02:34 PM Castillo-Corrales they were boxing and trading They were trading BIG shots Barrera-Morales never hit each other with big flush shots like these and I think the most exciting part was where Castillo knocked Chico down twice and everyone thought he was done then Corrales comes and stops him! NiGe2011 05-08-2005, 02:38 PM corrales is going to get *****ed in his next fight Is this guy serious? These guys put on one of the best shows in the world, the guy you are talking **** about for months wins. and you still have nothing to spit but venom? Ease up a little man. mic573 05-08-2005, 02:43 PM corrales is going to get *****ed in his next fight Come on now man be for real. The only person I see beating Corrales at 135 is Castillo and the same goes for Castillo the only person I see beating him is Corrales. Lightweight is owned by both Corrales and Castillo and I hope they have a rematch to really see who is the best. Right now Corrales is #1 but after last night I still believe Castillo is right next to him. joe kurtz 05-08-2005, 02:59 PM corrales is going to get *****ed in his next fight Good Lord, does the hating never stop?!! Dude, you were just witness to ****ing history ( assuming you even ewatched the bloody thing... . A pure classic! And you're going to take cheap shots at the winner? That shows no knowledge or respect for the game. And from that I can tell that you're not a real boxing fan at all, you're just a keyboard junky that occasionally catches some fights. That's all. Since you're obviously SO knowledgable, why not enlighten us here about exactly whom you believe is so easily going to "***** slap" Carrales in his next fight? Slipx is a sore loser that isnt a boxing fan! RwK 05-08-2005, 04:03 PM Is this guy serious? These guys put on one of the best shows in the world, the guy you are talking **** about for months wins. and you still have nothing to spit but venom? Ease up a little man. lmfao. Slipx does not care about being a fan. He is more interested in looking cool on this forum, by picking fights right. When he picks correctly....he rubs it in. When he does not....he makes excuses. LOL. Im twice the fan of Castillo he is, and all I said was.....I did not agree with the stoppage, and Corrales deserves some serious credit for the unbelievable performance he put on. Saying he is going to get "*****ed" is the stupidest thing anyone could possibly post....and this dick shows you his "true colors". Corrales is a ****ing pimp right now, plain and simple. The Pretender 05-08-2005, 04:09 PM No way is this the best boxing match you can get! The best boxing match is to the hilt and the ultimate result. You can never be 100% sure of who is the superior fighter unless someone dies. Then you have no judges, points, stoppage, are injuries to weigh. No juries can argue when one opponent utterly destroys their opponent. That's the ultimate boxing fight. paul750 05-08-2005, 04:21 PM [QUOTE=The Pretender] You can never be 100% sure of who is the superior fighter unless someone dies. Then you have no judges, points, QUOTE] i wouldn't go as far as that. but guys who are prepared to literally die in the ring make the best fights of course, usually at the expence of their health, frazier vs ali 3 comes to mind when thinking about guys with incredible courage The Pretender 05-08-2005, 04:24 PM Hell yeah. Even though old school boxers fought like ****, maneuvering like bags in the gym, they took tons of damage and threw haymakers all day. Today fighters are ***** just concerned about 24" spinners on their Escalades. awdsawds 05-08-2005, 04:38 PM Well I guess toney would be a mixer of old and new school Tha Greatest 05-08-2005, 04:38 PM Hell yeah.
