Now that Chico has won in dramatic fashion and is the big dog at 135, does Morales, when he moves up, have a chance to take Chicos glory? Did this fight take too much out of Diego to the point that he wont be the same fighter?

Would you rather see an immediate rematch with JLC or a bout with Floyd? I think Erik and Diegos warrior mentality would make for one hell of a fight for as long as it lasted. I think Morales would have a decent chance to outpoint Corrales but he'd have to be PERFECT.

Anyway, what are your thoughts. Please, no, "Morales would get ****in killed" rubbish...I'd like somewhat in depth responses if possible.

Morales by UD, although he won't KD the chinless Corrales since he can't even KD the glass jaw Pacquiao.

Let me tell you something right now. Diego Corrales hits alot harder than Manny Pacquiao. With that said, I don't think it would be a good decision for Morales to fight toe to toe as much as he likes to against Corrales.

I think that's a natural progression for Morales to get in there with him but I fear a bit for him in that fight. There's no bigger fight on the horizon though. A mega-fight; that's what Chico said he wants on "In This Corner".

Morales obviously feels he's the best despite all the odds.

Yeah...I agree with Jack. Corrales hits harder than Pacquiao. He had JLC out on his feet, and that was something else. An Immediate rematch between Corrales and Castillo should be the next fight. There definitely were alot of unanswered questions in this fight, and the one's that were unanswered in the beginning...

Corrales answered. Morales will be in a really tough fight, and predicting the outcome of a fight between those two, would be next to impossible. All I can say is, throw M.A.B. into the mix....and we have Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, Duran all over again.

I think Morales would have to move a lot. Frankly i think i see it a lot like Freitas vs Corrales only Morales might keep his hands up a little more.

I think Morales would really have to try one the weight himself to really see if he can move how he has to for as long as he has too before making the plundge.

I don't think I could take seeing Morales get stopped (I remember that dream I had where he fought Antonio Tarver..) but Corrales may just be the person who is able to do it.

Erik would also be Chicos biggest name other than Tszyu and would be the best money option. I think that all roads should point to Erik and I will never root against Morales in a fight...he's the man. Chico may be too much physically however.

He is not in the same division as those 4 are. Of course I have love for him. He is one of my favorite fighters.

Comparing Pac and Chico's power is overly absurd. Pac is a natural 126 pounder while Chico is hanging around the 135,140 area. That's two or three weight class difference.

Otherwise, Chico would be the ultimate chin-tester for Morales.

Im starting to have second thoughts on Morales V.S. Corrales if it happens. Morales might be able to withstand Chico's punches, and I keep forgetting how tall he is. He is not short by any means, and can establish a jab and uppercutt. Fight will be good....but I just dont know. I guess I have mixed feelings, because I think they both can win.

Im not sure though. He has a really damn good chin. Chico is alot more dangerous now...than I ever though he was. But Morales is a warrior, and would pressure him if he got hit. he would take the fight to Corrales:

Maybe that is not such a good thing. LOL! I just dont know.

Morales does have a granite chin but nothing and I mean nothing he ever tasted comes close to Chico's power. If Barrera, Chavez and Pac can stun him, he'll crumble under Deigo's power. **** Corrales just hurt and stopped Castillo. CASTIlLO!! lol If Morales takes the fight to Corrales, it'll end in 2 rounds. His only chance is to box, forget about toe to toe.

Morales has to much balls to beat chico, everytime morales gets hurt he goes nuts and trys to answer back, morales does not have enough power to KO corrales but chico does have enough to ko morales, morales was almost out in round 12 and u can say chico punches twice as hard as pacq so chico might ko him in 6 or ref stoppage

Yeah, I guess you folks are right. Chico hits as hard as anyone in boxing maybe. If he had Morales hurt, he might really unload on him. Then again, Morales has some pop too, but I dont think anything that would take Corrales out.

If you think about it though, Morales has never really let anyone down in a fight before. I would imagine Chico would be the heavy favorite as far as betting odds go....and that is really strange because of who Erik is. LOL!!

I'd go so far to say that Erik has the best chin 135 and down. We've seen him wobbled and hurt but never in danger of being knocked out. He's never been put down (realistically) in his career. I think he could withstand a lot of Chico abuse and possibly outpoint him over 12 but it'd be insanely hard. I don't think Chico will be the same anymore either after that fight.

everyone thought morales would of lost so many other fights im not stupid enough to bet against him anymore hes never failed lol hes good and i think has a really good chance.

Morales is the best in boxing at throwing combinations of straight punches. Even better than Manny Pacquiao. I think chico's defense could neutralize these, because he blocks them with his elbows...almost to where they are touching eachother. That is why Diego is succeptable to hooks. I think Erik would have to throw less straight punches like he does, and throw more hooks in that fight.

but even then. He would leave himself open to Chico's really hard straight punches.

This would be a great fight but could only be made better by having Don King as the promoter. I'd love to hear all the rhymes of Morales and Corrales. "Orignally scheduled to take place in Dallas, it's Morales and Corrales live from Caesar's Palace!"

Questionable.

05-23-2005, 01:35 PM
Yeah...their chins are really close. I mean both guys are tanks. Castillo has been in so many wars, as well as Morales. JLC has taken flush punches from some bigger guys...but In Jin Chi really put a hurting on Morales, and he never even looked like he was going down. I think they both have granite chins.

Questionable.

I've never seen Castillo's knees buckled an any time prior to the Corrales fight which is more than I can say for Morales and JLC has tasted fire from heavier fighters. I really can't see Morales taking the combinations JLC got from Diego. Moreso, Castillo is bigger and heavier. Nah, for me he takes a better punch than Erik.

If this happens i feel that Corrales being to much for Morales. But its going to take some body with pop to take out Morales and somebody that is at lest a Natural 130-135 anbody smaller he will take.

I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that, as tough as Morales is, he's not tough enough to take Chico's best shots. It'd be a great fight for as long as it'd last, but Erik has never been one to slip alot of shots, so you know Chico will catch him with some big-uns early on. I can't see it going past 4 rounds unless Erik stays on his bike the entire fight, which he'd never do. I doubt it'd be another war like Castillo/Corrales, though. Erik does good work inside, but he likes to work outside too. It'd be a great fight to watch, both guys trading combinations at range. Great fight, but short, with Morales seeing the canvas up close for the first time in his career... Chico by solid KO, round 3 or 4 at the latest.

Morales..can win..this fight ..if he stayed away and boxed this guy..he can outbox easily..but knowing him..hes gonna stand in and fight..at some point..which could be costly..i mean against Pacquiao..in the last round..he was giving Manny every opportunity to knock him down..(he couldnt do it)

against mab the last time morales was i believe 142 fightnight. he looked slower and sure didnt look like he had anymore power. morales is a ***** towards barrera.shows him no respect. he would give corrales minimal problems. hope corrales moves up to bigger and better things than a morales. a bigger, more powerfull, not dehydrated from making ltwt, corrales will give hatton a run for it.

chico's got the power to **** morales up, i could see the fight going a lot of different ways, erik winning on the cards until he decides to go toe to toe with the wifebeater and gets stopped, morales taking a lot of punishment but not going down, losing a 12 round dec., i could even see morales outpointing diego ( provided chico helps him out by letting himself be outboxed, having mental lapses, coming in dehydrated / out of shape). i think morales has an easier time with chico than with castillo, chico makes mistakes that erik can take advantage of - if he doesn't get knocked out. castillo would just wear him down over 12 rounds...i'd be afraid for morales if he fought the wifebeater, but somehow i don't think this fight will hapen anyway because chico will probably move up to 140 soon and cash in the big money fights to be made in that deeep division
