Yeah, it was a true war. Castillo was able to knock him down, but not hurt him. Chico finished the job good as soon as he knew what he had to do.

Not twice, but once. The first time Castillo knocked it out of his mouth. You got to admit the stoppage was good. He had Castillo out on his feet.

I really underrated Castillo, I definitally think the fight should have been stopped, but he showed a hell of a lot of heart and huge chin and some strenght I did not expect he would have had. Castillo and Corrales were both warriors and in my mind this fight eclipses both the Morales and Barrera and also Gatti and Ward. As a Chico fan I say lets do it again...

Greatest Fight I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Truly the only words that need to be spoken.

At first I thought the stoppage was premature, but after watching the slow motion video it reminded me of Spinks/Judah II. Castillo was dead on his feet, however if it were to be continued the 11th round COULD have been the greatest round in boxing. As of the 10th round wasnt.

This has fight of the year written all over it, and if I were ever to only watch one fight for the rest of my lifetime...Well it would definately be this fight.

naw i think they stopped the fight at the right time he was a ragdoll. If catillo would have gone down and gotten up he would have made it, but he was to much of a warrior and kept throwing punches instead of holding on when he was hurt.
Chico is nice, hes a powerful puncher but he showed either he was a coward or smart (depending on ur take) for throwing his mouthpiece

mic573
05-07-2005, 11:39 PM
That was a damn great fight and I won't argue the stoppage though it pissed me off because of Corrales using the Frietas tactic when the fight should of been stopped. I would love to see a rematch and I would even pay to see a rematch. This should be a trilogy because I think Castillo will beat Corrales in a rematch and a rubbermatch. He wore Corrales down and to me had the fight in his hand.

the castillo fans are starting to whine. they start talking about corrales and the mouthpiece. how about castillo's intentional low blows and calling time to wipe grease off his face. wow what a fight. i'll be surprised if castillos jaw isnt busted. castillo is a great fighter but one dimentional.it would be great if prettyboy floyd has to cancell out because his loudmouth puss gets hurt in training. then him and corrales can go at it. with gatti/castillo on undercard. just dreamin. castillo should go out and get another belt to make it worth while for corrales to beat him again.

The fight was way better than anything we have seen from morales and barrera in their wars....Truly a great fight and I cant see any other fighters giving us a fight this crazy.

When you have a guy who comes forward and throws punches at odd angles and another guy who wont budge and stands still and throws power punches. This is what you get.....

On top of that, this is what happens when 2 champions fight each other. Boxing needs so much more of this.

Unfortunately after the kick ass fight we had last night the next upcoming weeks of boxing looked great but now look like duds compared to last nights bout.

I am pumped up for Winky vs Tito but I dont think it will be an all out war. It is either going to be a boxing lesson or a one sided beating.

Winky doesnt have the balls to stand and trade with Tito and if he does he gets KTFO.

Guys, Diego "out-Gatti-ed" Gatti & he "out-Hagler-ed" Hagler, all in one fight!

And let's not sell Castillo short either. He took MONSTER shots all night long & put up with that nasty cut for the last half of the fight, things that if he'd survived them to come back & drop his man twice like that in 99.999% of other fights would have led him to certain victory. But, Carrales somehow, someway came up with that little bit extra to claim victory for himself.

I have to say that it was, indeed, the VERY best fight I've ever seen.
And believe me, this isn't coming from some "Johnny come lately" or "casual fan". FAR from it.
At 43, I'm probably the oldest bloke on these boards or at least close to it & I've been a die hard boxing fan since I was 14 WAY back in 1976. So, as far as boxing fandom is concerned, I'm so old I crap dust! :p
Seriously though, I have watched the vast majority of the fights that have been televised on network, cable, closed circuit & PPV over the course of the past 29 years. So, that's a LOT of boxing! And, in that period of time, I've seen a helluva lot of great fights. Throw in the hundreds of tapes that I've watched of fights that took place before "my time" & I think you have to give me credit for having a pretty damn large "memory bank" of boxing matches to reference. And, I can't come up with one better than last night's contest.
Sure, it's not an exact science by any means & it's subjective as hell, so there are probably some who will disagree with me on this, but I'm claiming it as not just the fight of the year or the fight of the decade or the fight of the my lifetime, but as the best fight EVER!
