View Full Version : Boxing Ur Way Out Of Trouble
.:UK RuPtUrE:. 05-06-2005, 12:14 PM Do u think that it is possible for boxers to get their way out of trouble by using their boxing skills.
I mean im not a thug or anything but i think that it it would help u if some1 started a fight in the street.
I have also been the victim of crime 2wice now and it mita helped in those situations (if only i was boxing b4)
Some people say that boxing is no way near as good as "street fighting" or any other kind of fighting and that boxers would lose.
What do people think on this???
jatt the ripper 05-06-2005, 12:42 PM some of the skills you should develop in boxing would defently help in street fights. Firstly you should learn how to throw a punch properly. In most street fights the fighters throw widely with no control. Boxing should defeintly help with this. Second is defensivly you should get a lot better. The foot movement used in boxing could get you out of a lot of trouble. ie. stop you from getting cornered.
Having said all that. Street fighting has no rules. So if the guy comes out with a knife or something then there's not much you can do.
Also i think you've posted this in the wrong section, but i'm quite new so i'm not 100%.
jabsRstiff 05-06-2005, 12:43 PM As a boxer....as long as you've been doing it for a while.....you do have some advantages :
You should be able to hit with power from both hands, from a variety of angles. You should do so without having to think about it, either.
You should be able to take more punishment than the average Joe on the street.
You should be less afraid, & much more confident, than others.
boxstarr 05-06-2005, 06:42 PM ye boxin wud help you a bit in a street fight because you can throw ur punches stronger and blok betta. problem is it dont rele help wen u outnumbad 5 to 1 by sum punks tryin 2 jak ur fings. it also dont help agenst grapplin or weapons. if ur in a bad situation try and avoid fight even if u wud win 1 on 1 cos dese ppl prob gna b cowards. they dont fite wiv honour like a boxer
PessimisticPug 05-06-2005, 10:28 PM If anyone believes that boxing could not help you in a street fight, I would love to hear your theories.........Rockin' :boxing:
legend 05-06-2005, 10:34 PM Boxing definitely helps in a streetfight, but I've seen an amateur boxer get his ass kicked all over the place before in a streetfight. Sometimes there are what you would call "elite" streetfighters.
ELPacman 05-06-2005, 10:38 PM Well I dunno, one of the guys that won in UFC recently for some big event that happened on ****eTV(back me up here), he has 2 styles of fighting that he knew and boxing was one of them. I'm sure it's just good to know.
PessimisticPug 05-06-2005, 10:38 PM I am talking about a well schooled professional. Even the pros that have had only a few fights, but have been well trained. It would be little competition in most cases, depending upon size variations. A highly trained boxer could deliver 2 to 3 punches in the time it takes a civilian to ****, load and swing that right fist. If the boxer gets off first no contest.........Rockin' :boxing:
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 05-06-2005, 10:50 PM Boxing will most definitely help you out in a street fight. It of course wont make you superman. But it definitely helps.
For one it will allow you to throw straighter quicker-connecting damaging punches limiting your opponent to accurately hit you back as opposed to most un-disciplined peoples wide swinging which leaves you wide open, for a longer period of time.

Any civilian that picks a fight with a pro boxer deserves to get KTFO on account of stupidity. But I know a few people that have never boxed that would have a chance to beat a pro boxer. You have to remember that in a streetfight, anything goes. How would a boxer stop some 6'6 beast from slamming him face-first into the cement??!
PessimisticPug 05-06-2005, 11:13 PM speed is also a power, sometimes greater than punching power. There is also the matter of skill.........Rockin' :boxing:

Most people dont respond well when hit to the face. There is a good chance that 6'6 beast will quit with a first shot to the nose or mouth. In a streetfight especially, size isnt everything. The boxing skills, (especially proper punching technique) would help you be the first to land accurately to the face.
The Pretender 05-06-2005, 11:40 PM Any kind of fighting art helps in a street fight to some degree. Look at Ruiz. That'd be one scary ****er to be in a street fight with. You better have a bat or SUV or something.

the_painless 05-07-2005, 12:05 AM boxing has to help to a certain extent. However on the street it's anything goes! There aren't exactly rules to follow and no ref to disqualify someone or no weight divisions. but anyhow.....
