That's before my time, and I haven't seen the fight, but I heard it was abuse. I guess Leonard figured if he could make it to the end of the fight, he'll get the decision. Camacho made sure he didn't make it to the end.
Leonard would have beaten him in his prime, though..

Leonard was so bad in that fight. He looked old and had lost everything from his boxing arsenal. Ray they attempted another fight in August of 1997 but was dis - couraged by his management, rumors were he`d been batted in sparring!

how badly did he lose anyway?
Round by round scoring would be nice.

he came out of retirement cuz he still loved to fight. Obviously he wasnt at his best but he showed his greatness by still trying to fight at the top after his retirement. Good move as a boxing fan, bad move for his career.

Exactly...before my time.
I wasn't a boxing fan back then, I was just a Tyson fan.

I don't know the exact scores, but the fight only lasted for five rounds, and he must have lost at least three of them. He was the taller fighter, but he kept bending at the waist when he jabbed, and when Camacho tried to come foreward, he would try to spring foreward and hit Camacho with a kind of haymaker right hand. He was too slow and finally in the 5th round Camacho started jabbing over Ray's jab, and throwing left hands, backing Ray into the ropes, and hitting him until the ref stopped it. Terrible, because Ray would have mopped the floor with Camacho in his prime, and I wanted him to then, but it didn't happen lol
