Seriously, This is starting to piss me off.

I don't really care about what people want to be or represent. But I can't stand when a newyorican reps PR thinking because they eat rice with beans or they call their parents mami and papi or because their parents or even grandparents are from the Island.

In reality, most of this people don't know how to speak Spanish, don't really know **** about our history and the worst of all, they haven't been on the Island.

And yet, You see this guys having the Puerto rican flag all over the damn place.

However,There are always a few newyoricans who do go and try to learn the culture, the language and the bond,so they could know what they represent.

And plus, I have seen this mother****ers going against Real Ricans from the Island because they get the girls most of the damn time, and they go to any side except their "own".

If you are Newyorican, Please Learn who Puerto Ricans Are.So you could embrace your heritage.

If no Then STFU.

Most Nuyoricans don't know **** about Puerto Rico and they can barely form a proper sentence in Spanish.

but yet they wave the flag like they've been to PR all their life, like are you serious? :ugh:.

I remember seeing a video of Pedro Albizu and then some random reporter asked some Nuyoricans who he was and then said ''Ehh i don't know, as long as he's Puerto Rican he's cool''.

I don't have have a problem with them. I do think that it's two different cultures though. I have cousins in NY and they're just different. The truth is no matter what their origin, most people in the US are ignorant to other cultures... even their own:doh: I think the over-board repping of the flag (wearing it as clothes on a daily basis) shows a bit of insecurity and it shows they have somewhat of an identity crises. No need to rep a flag from a place you've never been to. I think if you want to show your pride you should educate yourself on the culture and like you said Napo, actually visit the Island. That said, I still have love for Nuyoricans. The truth is they have had a huge influence on PR (and vice versa) as far as music, fashion, and many other things for many years....

Damn, I'm technically a "pocho" because i was born in the U.S but I have lived in Mexico as well. I know how to read and write Spanish as well as I can English.

I know my culture very well and am proud of my Mexican heritage.

As far as the Newyoricans, I can say there's a big difference. Just like Chicanos and Mexicans from Mexico. Some culture is lose and the biggest difference is the fact that most Mexican/Americans don't know what it's like to live in a 3rd world country.

I lived in Mexico City for 5 years, TLALPAN-TAXQUEÑA Mexico DF.

Well it goes both ways when people from the islands want to jump on nuyorricans about not speaking fluent spanish, but they take advantage of US benefits, move to the states, and can't even speak a word of English. Now whats up with that? All Puerto Ricans should stick together instead of fighting over this bull****. This has been going on for years and it's ****ing stupid. The reason why Cubans are so much more successful than us and practically run their own American city (Miami) is because they all stick together and help each other out, regardless of if they are born in the US or straight off the boat. Wake up people and lets help each other out. If you know a Puerto Rican who doesn't speak Spanish, then help then learn, instead of *****ing about it and vice versa. They obviously have some sort of pride in their heritage if they are representing like you say they are. "Real Puerto Ricans" Give me a break. To everyone else (white people mainly) we are all the same:Spics. You think they care if we speak spanish or not? They laugh at the fact that we argue over stupid **** like this. Let's unite and do something, instead of sitting around and talking ****.

A bit angry huh?
IF someone is proud of their heritage its fine with me. I dont expect every black man in America that wave the Red Black and Green to speak African, or My Irish friends with Irish Flags tattooed on their forearms to speak Gaelic, Italians to speak that and so forth.
Pride is a sin and sometimes it rubs people the wrong way. But they are simple people that have pride nothing more or less. Many PRs in America have their ancestry here since the late 1800's. So they are "Americanized" and thats fine.
As for ignorance...that my friend is found in every ethnicity in NYC...if it seems to show alot from New York Ricans ..you have to understand PR's are the largest Latin group in NY so of course you will see more of them.
Other groups like say Dominicans and Mexicans in NYc, most speak Spanish because the are first generation in America or NYC...Let them be in NY for over a hundred years and you will see them only speaking english too.
