Why the hell would u pick such a low weight class for your first fight
B.E.R.M.A.N 01-20-2010, 02:09 PM always the same by loosing weight - drink much water, eat the food many times at one day in lilttle quantums and run a lot. that's when you want to lose your weight helpy. over 20 pounds in one month is pretty much.
Sugar Jay 01-20-2010, 02:40 PM actually it is my first amature fight, why the f*ck would i lie??
im picking this weight class because im not a buff 190...i dont wanna fight some buffed out guy thats gonna KO me..lol...i wanna fight where i feel comfortable....ive seen guys at 178 that are bigger then i am i just dont understand how im at 190...but if i cant ill just settle for 178....but definetly trying to get down 2 165....
EzzardFan 01-20-2010, 02:52 PM Get a copy of the book called 7lbs in 7 days by Jason Vale. Read that, it is the quickest way to lose weight without losing energy and compromising your training and performance.
Irish Hitman 01-20-2010, 03:04 PM start going to weightwatchers no joke
alza1988 01-20-2010, 03:16 PM 20 pounds is alot man..The way I used to do 2 pounds a day was take it 1 weight class at a time going with the pro weights . If it's 20 pound of excess fat it shouldn't be that hard . I simply ate 1 big meal a day and a big coffee , caffeine burns calories I used a powerhouse cup and sweetners probably equiv to about 4 cups . Just a big meal till i'm full and have a big coffee then run and eat nothing else to the next day before my run . Drink all the water you need straight after your run and at night I was on a burn and suffering a bit .1 litre or 2 and make that your last till you weigh yourself the next day.I could do about 2 pounds a day.Once you do 7 pounds have a rest day but just stick with the same mealplan only give your legs a rest.I would gain a couple of pounds ths way but the next day it would just come straight off like 4 or even 5 pounds.Make 7 pounds a goal .1 came down from 180 plus to 154 . Cruiserweight to lightmiddleweight and now walk around 160 . After 3 weeks man you might have to dry out a bit .You can do up to about 6 pounds of waterweight in an hour session man but you don't want to do that then fight. 4 pounds is easy hydrated but half a pounds a nightmare dehydrated.

alza1988 01-20-2010, 03:35 PM Cut all the bad fats out man they're harder to burn than carbs and protein and just get stored as fat .Sugar you could use a we bit pre workout if your going to train alot harder but sugar's harder to burn than fat .Get your fats from fish and that , tuna salmone eggs etc

ight well just eat small meals throughout the day get in long anaerobic workouts then hopefully before the weigh in you can sweat the rest of the weight out. good luck

That looks like a good way man might try that and see if I can get down to about 147 and ripped .
jjones10591 01-20-2010, 03:43 PM For your first fight its not going to be a big deal because the person they will pair you up with wont have many fights if any either maybe lose like 10 thats when my next fight is to but i only let myself get 4 pounds over my fight weight at any time if you were training i dont see how that would have happened either run a lot

good info..thanx man.....ill give some green karma when im off 24..lol
One more round 01-20-2010, 07:55 PM Why do you need to lose so much weight for your first fight?
In ordinary shows you don't always need to be within a specific weight class, well over here anyway. You could weigh in a 172 and fight a guy who is 175 or something. I don't know anyone who tries to cut weight for an ordinary fight unless they are fighting a smaller guy and need to come in at an agreed upon weight.
It's not like a tourny where if you nominate to fight at 165 and weigh in at 167 you can't fight. It's an ordinary fight, they mix and match across the board, as long as the weight diff. is reasonable.

because i dont want to fight a huge guy..i mean im 6'1 190 but im a thin 190..not to muscular, and the guys up in that weight are big guys....i feel like i wouldnt have a chance against a guy that much bigger...i feel like 165 is a good place for me to fight....
good info on the weight, i think ima just do what i can and fight at the weight i land on on feb 20th...and its not a agreed weight i think theyre matching us up at the weigh in..so ill see how it goes....i just wanna win...badly...lol
putaloco 01-20-2010, 09:02 PM it can be done but you have to stay focused.
AddiX 01-20-2010, 11:30 PM I honestly think you should wait to fight and stick to training and dieting the right way. Your going to be putting your body through something your not use to at all and then you gotta be able to perform in the ring.
Not trying to Knock your confidence, but this is the last sport you should ever do half ass.
AC111 01-21-2010, 09:28 AM It seems like a big drop tbh. I wouldnt do it. Health risk

Im ready to fight...i just never dieted..i was eating a bunch of bull**** food.....then i took a break, first day back in the gym they ask me if i wanted to fight on feb 20th and i said yes...that was last week..lol....i am excited....thats why im asking 4 help..lol
GoogleMe 01-21-2010, 04:28 PM Ok friend, it's impossible if you want to have energy on the day aswell. I'm dead serious. Go for 190 or 178, 165 is way out of your league. Really, it's not the pros, so aim for a higher class then when you're weightdrained. You'll do worse if you're out of energy, than if you were facing a heavier opponent.

NO you're not,You're over weight. And to lose them in 4 weeks you will surely lose your first fight.

Huh? what do you mean fighting wherever you land?. What is your division?.
Are you fighting in Boxing or MMA?.
This is not a ****fight or dogfighting you know.
There isn't any reason you should ever have an AM fight scheduled 25 pounds below what you weigh. If you really think you should weigh 165 and you weigh 190, then clearly you are in no condition to fight. You should take that time to set some goals for yourself and drop that weight off. You'll have a much better experience and you'll be 100x less likely to get hurt.

They match you up at the weigh in so like if i weigh 185 they would set me up with a guy thats 185 if im 165 theyll make me fight someone in that weight class.....

you can cut 4-5 lbs from a good colon cleanse, stop eating anything with refined sugar in it and just spend the next month training really hard. i think though, you should be fighting at 178, not 165, a 25 lb drop in weight in a month will really weaken you.
Cassius Liston 01-23-2010, 07:24 PM i got my first amature fight on feb.20th,2010 and i let me self get out of hand with my food selection..lol...im at 190 i want to get down to 165....i know its a long shot but there is a lot of people on here that reall know what goes on pre- fight day...so can anyone help??? i really want to lose this weight......
sounds too risky, you're obviously not ready for a fight that weight is too substancial
Cassius Liston 01-23-2010, 07:26 PM You feel that if you go down you can cope with the power but you won't have the speed if you lose the weight in that amount of time, you'll get tko by the natural guy,he'll overwhelm you with flurry's and 165 is still a dangerous weight my advice is give youself time
Libra_Por_Libra 01-23-2010, 07:29 PM Why did you agree to fight when you're not even in shape? You probably let yourself go like Ricky Hatton.
Get in shape first then fight in a few months.

PessimisticPug 01-23-2010, 11:19 PM I'd recommend cutting off a leg before an arm, cant score points with your leg.
But seriously, if you are able to cut the weight I can just about gaurantee you that you will go into that fight in such a weakened state that the small guys will clean your clock.
Fear is something that you MUST learn to control and then over come and feed off of. You think fighting a smaller guy is better because heres no way that they will knock your ass out. I didnt get stopped but when I cut drastic weight to fight smaller guys I went into those fights empty, live and learn.
Fight where ever you maybe comfortable. You have to have your legs under you to take a good shot and furthermore to get the **** out of the way of the punches.
But hey, lets be honest, you can get knocked out either way, it happens all the time in this game. But just let me tell you that if your stepping up to fight with overwhelming fear in your mind and heart ou are in for some trouble.
I recommend you tell your coach to call the bout off. Get back into the gym and work to build your punches, stamina and skills. But most of all you need to build your confidence.
Everybody is nervous stepping up. If they say that they are not then they're lying to you. Take control..................Rockin':boxing:
One more round 01-24-2010, 01:20 AM Yeah, as Rockin' said, just because you are in with guys that may be smaller at 165 doesn't mean they won't smoke you if you are drained.
Rane-Ex54 01-24-2010, 01:50 AM Do the master "lemon" cleanse for 10 days then build urself back up easting really well.
But honestly like others said, its not safe to loose that much. Your better off fighting at 190 and getting ur skills ready. Dont be scared, looks are deceiving. You can be quicker, faster, better stamina, better boxing skills then dudes who look ripped. You said ur 6'1 and skinny, loosin 25 pounds is gonna make you a skeleton. Then the dude you fight whos naturally 165 is gonna tear you up, and you are gonna feel even worse. So Like others said, better going for 190 or 178.
Mares 01-24-2010, 06:43 AM Very interesting you should go try it then come back and post your findings.
Sugar Jay 01-24-2010, 11:16 PM yea a lot of you guys made a lot of sence and yea im not in any shape to rush it....so i wint fight till i feel i am in shap...thanx guys that advice really helped....its no rush to fight..
