View Full Version : my new winning gear

i went to LA and got a chance to visit the Winning store

the manager (kazumichi) was very nice and hospitable, not to mention funny as hell. he gave me as a gift an old newspaper article about alexis arguello, autographed by him. hahaha his reason for giving me that was "i don't understand spanish, take it". he also has tons of pics form de la hoya, pacman, marquez, tyson, etc.

they have plenty of gear over there, but it's pretty darn expensive (especially with that freaking 10% absurd tax they have in cali)

anyway here's a couple of pics i took (cellphone, sorry). this one's form the entrance

and this is my freaking new gearrrrrrrr :boxing:

sweet gear man , and a very nice gesture from the manager . I've never tried winning before but hear nothing but good things ( hey if pacquiao , mayweather and others wear them without endorsments they've got to be good) .

I've got a pair of fighting sports gloves which people say are very similar to winning.
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/linedrive-baseball-equipment_2090_1844070262

They feel fantastic and i'm needing a new pair very soon , so i think i'll shell out for some winnings this time

nope

there are only 2 places to buy winning: japan and cali

there's a few sites that sell them too, so try searching and see if someone ships it for less

thanks man

they aren't similar. not even close

i have both the fighting bag gloves (old version) and the training gloves (new version). the training gloves are much better, but not even close to winning in terms if protection and fit

i'm not saying that the fighting gloves are bad (the bag gloves are lol), but they aren't comparable to winning, and they shouldn't, hence the price difference

quite honestly, there are better options than fighting in that price range (see IMF, everlast protex series)

they're not bad and they are very good looking, but there are better options for the same price (and even lower prices)

oh and ignore what the site says lol, they aren't even the same company

thanks man. shelled around $660

lol luckily my best friend stopped me from getting that gear in golden color. i almost bit the bait because that's the exclusive color only world champs can order and my coach is a former champ (wilfredo vazquez). the thing is, ordering them in special colors takes up the price another 30%, so i would've ended up paying $800 dollars. ****'s ridiculous!

i still lost my left ball, i know...:puppy_dog

yeah no, you're just following the trend. I have Fighting, Rival, Title, Ringside, Everlast (High-End), T*U, and Fighting is a pretty good glove.

the reyes training gloves are totally different from their fight gloves. the fight glove is padded with foam/horse hair and the training glove is just foam. I personaly dont mind 14oz for sparring even though I always use 16+.

14oz reyes are still much more hard than 12oz winning

the ONLY person that has swollen me more than usual on sparring is that guy, and i've sparred against guys with EV, rival, winning, title (platinum), and ringside

i didn't know that fact about the reyes training gloves though, thanks for the clarification

EDIT: are these the gloves you mean?

yep those are it. You should check out the fight gloves when you get a chance so you can see why theyre the hardest hitting glove in the game.

lol let us know how your boy with the 14oz likes the new winning gloves.

Hey man that's some sweet gear. I got winning hand wraps and gel hand protector that goes under the wraps, these are great.

I just ordered a pair of Grants professionl bag gloves (12oz hook & loop closure), I would have liked to get a pair of winning training gloves but I think Grants make a better hook & loop closure glove.

I'm really tempted to buy some more winning gear after looking at this thread again lol... been working my ass off and got a lot of money saved away and nothing to spend it on... it's amazing how much money you can save if you don't go out drinking or anything..

I was thinking about getting the FG-5000 headgear which has the bar to protect the nose which is good as iv already had my nose shifted to left and would like to preserve it from anymore damage.. $370 is crazy for headgear though.. I was also thinking of getting a pair of 10 oz or 12 oz velcro gloves just for the mitts and bag to replace my 10 oz green hill gloves which are on its last leg.

yeah, the winning velcro gloves aren't as great as the lace up ones

everlast has a headgear identical to the winning one you're looking for. the padding isn't the same obviously, but i don't know if they're good or not

my gloves are 12oz, and they're awesome for the mitts and bag. unlike with the 16oz winning gloves, you actually feel a very nice pop when you punch. i also have the gel pad and the wraps, since kazumichi gave them to me as a gift. with all the stuff, my hands feel like i never went to the gym:nonono:

lol btw, i got that money playing online poker. i never drink nor smoke, so that definitely helps save up the money in the long run

The winning gloves i have now are velcro and are still pretty damn good! it's also handy not having to get someone to tie my laces every time I just want to jump on the bag.. but I see a lot of people prefer lace ups on this site.. have you tryed both the velcro and laces? what do the lace ups offer that the velcro don't? better wrist support? I think i'll get a pair of 10oz lace ups in red..

**** iv always been good at online poker never played for real money though... Yeah man it's funny all my mates call me lucky because I owned a 40k car by the time i was 18 and always had plenty of money to spend when i wanted... I still don't see how that's lucky when iv had to work for it.. I just know how to save my money and work hard.. and I don't go spending it on drugs and alcohol like everyone else.

i've never owned the velcro gloves, but the first winning gloves that i tried were 14oz velcro. don't get me wrong, they were great (made me buy winning gear lol), but the wrists feel MUCH tighter in the lace up version. there's a noticeable difference between both gloves

i've never tried the 10oz, but mine being 12oz, there shouldn't be that big of a difference. these (12oz) are by far my favorite gloves so far, including my other 2 pair of winning gloves (18oz and 16oz)

i use my 16oz for sparring. yes, they won't make you hit hard, but i've never really needed other gloves to keep people off of me

you could always get 14 ouncers to add a bit of speed and pop

it all depends man. the velcros are basically the same gloves with a bit less wrist protection. i always have my trainer looking out for me, so i always use laceups. still, they are the best gloves out there, laceup or velcro

Congratulations on the gear.
and thanks for sharing the pics, it was enjoyable for us to see that little of the store so Im sure you enjoyed the experience a lot more.

Im not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but I have some Winning equipment(16oz gloves, FG-2900 size M headgear, Black Shingaurds, and 2 Brand New pairs of handwraps(1 x VL-A, 1 x VL-B), A pair of Knuckle gaurds, and other stuff) I bought last year and never really used them that much(some about 3 or 4 times, and others about once or twice only)

I got the items in February of last year, and although that is considered a long time, I havent used the items except 3-5 times at most, while the others(the new items) are still in their packaging.

The gear is the best ive tried, and unfortunately, I see that I can use the money I get from them for more important things. I hate to sell them and let them go, but im not using them, so its a shame that theyre just sitting there gathering dust.

Anyway, I live in Kuwait, so the shipping will be the drag, but I can tell you two things:

1- I havent set my mind on prices yet, but anyway, im not gonna try and milk anyone or rip anyone off, so im just going to look for a mediocre/minimum price that pleases both the buyer and me(since the items are already relatively expensive and shipping from Kuwait will be costly). So Im gonna try and work out a way to get the price to include the shipping yet it will be cheaper than retail.

2- If someone buys multiple items from me for a good price, ill pay for the shipping myself.

you can contact me at: hamad-aj@hotmail.com

again, Im sorry TS, i wasnt trying to hijack the thread or anything, just thought id help some Winning gear fans.

Also, to compensate on the fact of pulling attention from the original topic, here are pics I took of my gear last year when they arrived:

(sorry, I need to post 14 more posts to post the link, but ill surely add the link later)
