Do you take protein supplements before or after working out?......or does it not really matter?

There are different protein mixes for different purposes. The body is very open to absorb protein straight after a hard work out so it is best to have a quick release protein then such as a whey to take advantage of this optimum absorption period. . If you take protein just before a workout your blood will be sent to your guts and make you lethargic and possibly nauseous. So I recommend a protein shake well in advance of a workout but the key shake is straight after a work out. There are medium timed release proteins like Syntha 6 which are good all purpose shakes that you can have any time ,and slow release eg Casein which are best at bedtime as you are getting a constant staged protein release while you sleep.

Best time to take them is 30minutes after your workout.

I take this stuff called PHD, Tastes ace and seems to be working well.
I usually Rock 1 first thing in the morning, 1 about 30-45mins before my workout and then 1 more straight after the workout

Go whey, those multi-source proteins are better for pre-bed and throughout the day. Whey is for pre/postwo since its absorbed fast, Casein for pre-bed as its absorbed slow.
