View Full Version : Mayweather Just Enters Training Camp Now?!?!
ThunderGatti 05-04-2005, 01:12 PM On May 2, 2005 Mayweather just entered training camp for his fight with Gatti.
Wow I have to say I like this news, this is great. This would only give PBF a month and a half to train for Gatti. While Gatti has been in the gym since March. This could only help Gatti's odds for beating PBF. I dont care how good PBF "thinks" he is, hes in for a big surprise come June 25.
Look at it this way, now PBf as some excuses when he loses on June 25.

Dude a month and a half is plenty of time to train for a fight.. Roy Jones used to enter training camp three weeks before a fight!!

Floyd doesn't need to train hard for this one, he could outbox Gatti in his sleep, with a broken arm, and his shoelaces tied together....FLoyd's ****y, but he's also 100% correct, this is by far his easiest assignment out of his 3 title challenges, Genaro Hernandez and JL Castillo were much bigger challenges
FLOYD UD12, easily, maybe 11 outta 12 rounds
spinksjinx 05-04-2005, 01:17 PM When most people enter camp months ahead of time it is to lose the excess weight. Floyd has trouble making the 140 weight from being to small, should present no problems and increasing his daily amount of protein along with his vigorous training should be fine.
Floyd has always started late in fights, this isnt a big concern...Floyd is as always already in shape. So a month or so to fine tune your skills should be no problem.
puppy_dogg 05-04-2005, 01:18 PM for real man, lol
six weeks is perfectly normal training time for any fight. floyd will be more than ready as always and he will gatti a clinic

Yup, Floyd is just the king right now and he is in his prime.
TyrantT316 05-04-2005, 02:07 PM 6 weeks is not unheard of for a big fight...Floyd doesn't explode up in weight in between fights...like Hopkins he is always in shape
ThunderGatti 05-04-2005, 02:08 PM Yup, Floyd is just the king right now and he is in his prime.
What the hell is Floyd the king of??? Hes not the king at 140, not even close, he beat Corely and Brussels, wow. Hes not the P4P king. I at least got 3 people ahead of him (Koysta, B-Hop, amd Morales, and possibly MAB).
Wait I forgot hes the king at beating his wife, PBF is the man!

your gonna be heart broken when mayweather retires your man. be prepared for sadness my man :( . are you gonna be at the fight?

we can argue all day where Floyd's at in the p4p game (I got him at #1 by a mile but that's just me), but Gatti's is about the 9th 10th best at 140 and he has no chance vs. Mayweather, even the haters will bow down on June 25th...
btw Corley and Bruseles are much better comp. compared to the midget squad that Gatti's been beating up on recently
PRboxingfan 05-04-2005, 02:14 PM 6-8 weeks is a normal camp unless the fighter needs to lose a lot of weight (like Gatti). Normally, a fighter like PBF just needs to get in shape and not trim down as he is fighting close to his natural weight or 150 pounds (I mean street weight). Gatti, on the other hand, walks around near 165 or 170 so he DOES need the long training camps that actually drain you more than they help you since your body gets tired.
As for king at 140, he might not be king of the division, but he is higher P4P than anyone else. I have him 1st and Nard 2nd.
Xecutioner 05-04-2005, 02:20 PM floyds conditioning has never been in question. this thread is useless. a month and a half is more than enough time have you ever seen him look out of shape even when he doesnt have a fight scheduled?
ThunderGatti 05-04-2005, 02:21 PM btw Corley and Bruseles are much better comp. compared to the midget squad that Gatti's been beating up on recently
Corley....maybe, ok. But Bruseles??? No way in hell, he is garbage. Not even close to the likes of Dorin or an old Leija.
And Gatti is second only to KT at 140
jabsRstiff 05-04-2005, 02:32 PM Floyd is going to have a very easy night with Gatti.
The boxing skills that Gatti has been showing will pale in comparison to Floyd's.
Gatti will be forced to be aggressive....& he won't keep his defense while he tries to get to Floyd.
He'll be hit over & over again by Floyd's right hand. Then he'll be taken out by Floyd's underrated body attack.
Floyd in 9.
SacTown1 05-04-2005, 02:36 PM Corley....maybe, ok. But Bruseles??? No way in hell, he is garbage. Not even close to the likes of Dorin or an old Leija.
And Gatti is second only to KT at 140
Gatti #2 at 140???? uhhhh let's see.....
Kostya, Cotto, Floyd, Vivian, Corley, even Urkal, are all more talented than Arturo, and they'd all beat him pretty easily....
remember, the best fighter Gatti has ever beaten at 140 is....Gianluca Branco, yes, THE Gianluca Branco....Dorin and Leija are blown up lightweights and Gatti was 158+ for both fights, and Ward was a glorified club fighter with no defense....
I know Gatti's pretty and all, my wife loves the guy, but he's an average fighter with the right complexion to get the connection
spinksjinx 05-04-2005, 02:38 PM Any top 10 fighter at 140 would obliterate Gatti. Simple reason? They are all boxers and would embarass him....Shall we watch the Manfredy fight?????
Id even favor the slugging Hatton against Gatti myself.
ELPacman 05-04-2005, 02:41 PM Yeah, I have to agree with people saying about Arturo's skills. He lacks much though he has a punchers chance in this fight. If he gets lucky and hits Floyd with his bombs and I'm sure no matter how slick Floyd is, one has to get through. It just might turn the game around. Other than that, I don't see Gatti winning with boxing skills or using his old defensive skills or he's gonna get painted all night. Like I said before, this will be Gatti's toughest test to date and his fight of his career. Nobody will want to see him continue to beat up on smaller guys if he doesn't win this fight.
SacTown1 05-04-2005, 02:46 PM Any top 10 fighter at 140 would obliterate Gatti. Simple reason? They are all boxers and would embarass him....Shall we watch the Manfredy fight?????

GREAT POST, Manfredy put on a clinic vs. Gatti
PRboxingfan 05-04-2005, 02:46 PM PBF would be more recognized if he weren't black. Many people, reporters, fighters, and even trainers, have said that a Latino or other ethinic fighter with Floyd's skills would be more popular than DLH. The problem is, people follow their people (NJ loves Gatti, for example, as do Canadians) and that's why Floyd isn't as popular as, say, Gatti.
That being said, as soon as he mops the floor with Arturo he will gain recognition.
Truth 05-04-2005, 02:54 PM What the hell is Floyd the king of??? Hes not the king at 140, not even close, he beat Corely and Brussels, wow. Hes not the P4P king. I at least got 3 people ahead of him (Koysta, B-Hop, amd Morales, and possibly MAB).

He is the king right now, name another fighter in boxing right now that is as talented and skilled as Floyd, plus he is undefeated.
Journeyman 05-04-2005, 02:59 PM i say mayweathers starting to train right now is more than enough time for him. But if he is to get a showdown with DLH, best believe he will train for longer.
vizcaya 05-04-2005, 03:08 PM Mayweather will not gain any new fans or recognition after the fight.
Mayweather will not be fighting a fighters fight, he will put on a clinic. So the Fans will say he ran around the ring all night. Floyd will win this fight with a Jab. It will be a boring fight, and Floyd will not win any new fans by fighting the smart fight.
Mayweather has no mainstream fans. His fan appeal sucks. Most of the people look at him like a spoiled, rich, wannabe gansta punk.
Mayweather is the best damn fighter in the sport today. But being the best does not translate into money.

What the hell are you talking about??? That is complete bull****, people dont like PBF because he is black??? Cmon on man, people dont like him becasue he is an ******* in and out of the ring. The boxing world has fell in love w/ many black boxers before, what the hell are you talking about.
People like Gatti because of the way he fights, he take 2 punches to the face to land one punch, he'll get knocked down and come back from off the canvas and knock his opponet out, that is why people love Gatti, the way he fights. Just because PBF has great boxing skills dosent mean people have to watch him. And they still wont after the Gatti fight.

Gatti would knock out Cotto
USA4LIFE 05-04-2005, 03:27 PM PBF will gain nothing from this fight win, lose, or draw. He's always saying how Gatti is a bum...well if he beats Gatti he will be known as beating a bum and not get any respect for that, infact he will probably lose respec for not picking a better fighter in the eyes of many ppl, and if he loses he's done for, he will be known as someone who got beat by a bum and lose most of if not all his fans, he will lose what little respect he has now. In my eyes pbf picked a lose lose fight, Gatti has everything to gain in this fight. If (I said IF! ppl so dont jump down my neck), if Gatti loses but he puts on a good performance people will love him more and if he wins that will propel his career like crazy and get the big paychecks that he deserves.
Now why i dont like pbf. He has no heart in the ring, he has all the skills to be the best fighter who has ever stepped in the ring but he never commits, he never gives 100%. I like ****yness in a fighter but he hasnt proven to me that he deserves respect. So what if hes undefeated, how many fights has Gatti lost but still has more fan than prf can count...well he count that high so never mind. The majority of boxinf fans what to see not necessarily a brawl but a fight in which both fighter give it their all, Gatti always gives it his all thats why we love him, he has done more for the sport of boxing than pbf ever will in his life. Like I said befor, pbf has the skills but to me he's a joke. GATTI BY KO!!!
ELPacman 05-04-2005, 06:30 PM Technically if PBF has legal court issues and can't stay away from the law, he should be more so called the bum than Gatti. Gatti at least is keeping himself out of trouble. In that respect, Floyd is either too immature or just doesn't commit to the sport as well as he should even though he's undefeated and great. He could be GREATER!
Floydmayweather 05-04-2005, 09:36 PM Floyd has lots of fans, true boxing fans. He will not lose to Gatti because he is to fast, to accurate, to slick, and has a defense that is simply great. Gatti cuts easily and will be opened up fast. Then he will go after Floyd only to have the fight stopped around round 7. Peace Floyd is king ha ha ha
Slipx 05-04-2005, 09:43 PM Another thing that separates great fighters from good fighters.
Great fighters train hard every day.
Poor-good fighters only train hard a month or two before a fight.
"A job that you can wake up to and love is something every man should have."-Foreman
who cares..mayweather is still gonna kick his ass..gatti got smacked around by angel manfredy and ivan robinson..mayweather has fought about 8 fighters who would beat gatti.. corrales corley costillo etc
sisforshaq 05-04-2005, 10:46 PM it just comes down to June 25th when that bell rings, Arturo Gatti will be in for the beating of his life. He will be out boxed and out smarted and just completly embarrassed. We are looking at the next Roy Jones in a lighter weight class and he will also i belive become even greater than Jones the way hes winning now.
June 25 - Gatti dropped in 10
spinksjinx 05-04-2005, 11:57 PM Yo tell me what Manfreddy is doin now??? And what is Gatti doin, theres your answer
What the hell does that have to do with anything?
Manfredy beat the hell out of Gatti and Mayweather thrashed Manfredy all within a year this had happened. Manfredy didnt get lucky beating Gatti, he clearly outboxed him and Mayweather did the same to Manfredy. Gatti hasnt fought a top fighter since Branco and even Branco got the best of him for majority of the fight.
GATTI SUCKS ASS, But his style is exciting....
Now why i dont like pbf. He has no heart in the ring, he has all the skills to be the best fighter who has ever stepped in the ring but he never commits, he never gives 100%. !!!
You have never watched the Augustus/Burton fight have you.
trevorjulien 05-05-2005, 12:31 AM I like PBF in this one. But we all know what happens when you do not train properly for a fight. Look what happened to Lenox-Vitali, Lenox Rachman 1. Usually 8 weeks is about right. But PBF is playimg with his perfect record
trevorjulien 05-05-2005, 12:34 AM People act like Gatti is a Bum ....he has been at that weight for quite some time unlike PBF coming up. And he has been straight thrashing dudes. Although I pick PBF but its not guarra-damn-teed-

Lol your kidding right, he will never be anything like RJJ. The way he's winning cmon man, RJJ gave people what they want to see pbf doesnt, he's boring to watch even when he showboats. Dont compare pbf to RJJ pls, RJJ was something else in his prime. He can be as skillful or more skillful than RJJ but he will never be like him, RJJ was the man.
`STEELHEAD 05-05-2005, 03:24 AM i'm hopeing for prettyboy to stumble.not taking the fight seriously, clowning around and sticking his chin out.pissing off the judges so they give gatti the close rounds. we'll see if there's any glass in floyds jaw. gatti could get lucky with the help of mayweather.

Staying at a weight has nothing to do with being bum.
Gatti is a bum compared to Floyd, because of Floyd's superior skills. Not hating just facts.
it would appear gatti is gonna get massacred but ill stake
some points on him anyways. if yall will give me 3/1 odds.
check my sig.
most of us have seen loads of gattis fights & accept hes gonna
have to leap on mayweather & beat the **** outta him or be
outboxed easily by the all round superior fighter mayweather.
when demarcus corley caught mayweather with some flush
powershots he wavered slightly. just a small sign he can
be hurt & who else is better at dishing out pain than gatti ?
its a longshot but gatti could stop mayweather & send
shockwaves through that weight division.

Mind you Corley is a better boxer than Gatti ever will be. Id favor Corley over Gatti....Gatti is just a wild slugger, I dont give a damn how much Buddy Mcgirt has says he has taught Gatti to box. Mcgirt also told me Mike was training everyday and was going to be champ again.
Mayweather just outclasses Gatti on every skill level, the only way Gatti will win is if he gets close and goes wild on him but Floyd's speed will not make that happen.
Some of you people act as if Gatti is the jesus christ of boxing, just because he is exciting to watch doesnt mean he is the best.
PRboxingfan 05-05-2005, 09:50 AM You have never watched the Augustus/Burton fight have you.
That was a good fight; the corner had to step in and basically drop to their knees begging the ref to stop the fight, LOL. Augustus was getting his ass handed to him BIG TIME.
That's not the only exciting fight he's commited to. Anyone remember his fights with N'Dou and Jesus Chavez? Those were great fights.
Oh, and to the person who said PBF wasn't up to RJJ's standards: you're wrong. Roy had one of the most boring styles I've seen in a loooooong time. He had some power, yes, but he was always dancing around and keeping himself off balance. When he did commit, tho, watch out! Floyd allows himself to get more into the pocket and doesn't dance around as much (except for that second JL Castillo fight, that was just running around).
jack_the_rippuh 05-05-2005, 10:02 AM ThunderGatti, quit trying to convince yourself that Gatti will win. It's just not going to happen.
El Jesus 05-05-2005, 12:46 PM Compare those to the wars Gattis has been, pff...not even close to how much Gatti commits.
Gatti is in those wars because of his inferior skills, PBF simply outclasses every fighter he faces, thats like saying a football team who dominates every game isnt as good as a team who squeaks out close games because it was an "exciting comeback" or "played hard under pressure to win" thats bull****. Gatti is so inferior to Mayweather its not even funny, most of you Gatti fans probably didint know who he was when he was gettin slapped by Angel Manfredy and DLH, i sure did, and my opnion of him hasnt changed, hes a guy who gets slapped around, round after round and sometimes walks out with a victory to usually ****ty opposition.
Mind you Corley is a better boxer than Gatti ever will be. Id favor Corley over Gatti....Gatti is just a wild slugger, I dont give a damn how much Buddy Mcgirt has says he has taught Gatti to box. Mcgirt also told me Mike was training everyday and was going to be champ again.

i basically said the same thing, gatti has a chance but mayweather
will almost certainly give gatti no chance. box box box
ive not actually seen de corley before. i was just going
on what peeps said about the pbf-de corley fight.

Corley has pretty good skills and it showed as he fought really competitive fights with floyd/cotto/zab all top fighters. Corley almost had Cotto out if he wasnt as surprised as everybody else. Corley also stunned Mayweather and had him out but didnt capitalize....Zab outclassed him but it was a good fight for both fighters.
They call Corley a gatekeeper but if he wouldnt choke up everytime he creates a large opening he would be champion.
Corley is a pretty good fighter and you should check out some of those fights of his.
