View Full Version : Pacquiao, Roach Say "Bring On Barrera"
Rick Reeno 11-30-2004, 12:44 AM Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach both want HBO to bring on Marco Antonio Barrera without wasting time so they could once and for all settle the issue with the legendary Mexican who has consistently claimed he had an off night when Pacquiao annihilated him in eleven rounds in San Antonio, Texas on November 1, 2003. Earlier, international promoter Murad Muhammad who handles Pacquiao’s fights noted that “Barrera claims his head wasn’t right in the first fight. If he wants to redeem himself we will be happy to accommodate him.”
Prior to leaving his home in General Santos City for his training camp in Davao City on Sunday after watching Barrera win a close “fight for the ages” against Erik Morales, Pacquiao told Viva Sports/Manila Standard “Barrera keeps saying he had so much on his mind in our fight and he was not the same fighter. Let’s settle this issue once and for all and let’s do it now. Let’s have the rematch. I am ready to take on anybody who wants to fight the Pac-man. Bring them on. I don’t care who comes first, Barrera or (Juan Manuel) Marquez” the WBA/IBF champion who is slated to fight Pacquiao on February 26. [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=337)]
psychopath 11-30-2004, 02:19 AM Pac is a guy who means what he said. If not for ****i'n Arums manipulations that JMM doesn't have a belt by now and that MAB rematch could have been over and an issue clearly settled.
Now JMM or MAB . . . I don't care one of these 2 better step up on the plate comes February.
C'mon guys we all saw this coming, makes perfect sense, I'd duck Marquez too if I was Pacquaio's handler's and plus i'd obviously be more lucrative for a PAC - MAB rematch than w/ Marquez. I wouldn't let Pac get anywhere near Marquez 'cause it could be worse than the 1st time.
bytee 11-30-2004, 02:54 AM An appeal to MAB . . .
Please dont let your "Proxy" fight Pac clearly he cant finished the job . . maybe you can . . So nobody has to deny . . "It wasnt me who's on that ring"

I think pac wins again no matter what.
Based only on the way MAB first fought pac and then the way JMM fought him, he should give JMM the rematch 1st. But i think pac is gonna give the fans what they want to see and let MAB step up to the plate first.

Definitely it's more lucrative for Pac to fight MAB than with JMM . . . and it that happens first, it's not because team Pac thinks JMM is that dangerous at all . . . yes it could be worse but not for Manny . . . it's for JMM because he'll be dealing with a two fisted Pac this time. :D . . . broken nose . . . busted lips . . . remember? And they won't be needing the goddam STUPID judges . . . JMM won't be getting up from the canvas anymore.
Have it touched your mind why team JMM refused that immediate rematch? Forget about that mandatory defense alibi . . . that's crap. JMM could be the the No 1 best feather weight now if they didn't refuse that fight. :D ;)
MlLkMan 12-01-2004, 06:47 PM I think Pac should go for JMM first then MAB.

Well as per the latest . . . it looks like it's gonna be JMM after all. ;)
ispayder 12-01-2004, 09:09 PM looks like we may have to settle with Pac vs. JMM come February because MAB don't want to have a rematch with Pacman.
FightFan214 12-01-2004, 11:10 PM Well I think thats the way it should be, he needs to prove himself against Juan Manuel before going on to bigger fishes, not that JMM is a chump.

Why would Pac duck Marquez, when all he could do was to survived PAc's onslaught only. He was the one who was down 3 times in round 1 and not Pac.
JMM was a virtual unknown until he fought Manny! Manny is still the man in the superfeather!!!
JaNnO 12-01-2004, 11:52 PM Manny, the real fighter he is always ready to fight whoever out there that is willing to give him a good fight -- that is including JMM himself. The problem with JMM was that he showed he was hesitant to engage the Pacman in a rematch again. But it's smarter to face MAB first since it will surely earn him guaranteed money first before facing the "tag-me-if-you-can" JMM who will surely play safe at any opportunity he gets with the Pacman.
olympic boy 12-03-2004, 04:52 AM pacman-jmm 2 a done deal???????it means the scorecards are rigged!!!!!!!not unless pacman hammers jmm below the ground.....sh!@#$%^&t happens again at the scores!!!!!!!
better pacman-mab 2..........counterpunching sucks like jmm & judges!!!
sean2079 12-03-2004, 04:59 AM pac has to take care of fasan first.
Swifty 12-03-2004, 06:02 AM I hope its MAB that comes first... I still cant believe wat pac-man did to him.
JOM'S 12-03-2004, 11:50 AM for me I prefer Pac to face JMM first come Feb to settle the score, and fight either MAB or Erick after that...
but reality it does not matter who PAC will fight first each one of the 3Ms has a belt on his waist the PAC is hungry to have, plus the fact that all 3 fights will be mega bucks fight for the PAC...
sean2079 12-05-2004, 06:52 AM i think pac will win but it will be a hard fight on those rematch
