first off i'll say it right of the bat, i was wrong, it was toney UD, n not RUIz UD like i predicted. comon who's perfect? lol
neway

the discussion at first was in my mind very against klitschko. lewis obvoiusly is not friends with him. that writer went against him as well, n said that he beat no ones. klitschko can't seem to fight the tournament, since DKP is controlling the other 3 champs. DK hasn't presented a fight to him. VK offered the byrd one, but no reply from DK. same with wlad, no reply from DK. (or reply rejected... neway). DK was all talkin about his fighters blah blah blah.

The fight itself

i scored it 115-112 for toney, even though the KD was incorrectly ruled. so it would've been 115-113, which is actually pretty close. Toney did look pretty impressive tonight, n he has defnitily moved up the ladder in the HW ranks. but i never considered ruiz one of the top 4 gyz, even though he had a piece of leather on him. but at this day and age, i could cut out a piece of my jacket (leather), stick on a gold chain, and name it the RBA (Riz Boxing Assocation) belt. many gyz have belts, but it means nothing, becasue the belt doesn't signify the champion, the fighter does. I think there are many gyz better than Ruiz (barret, peter, brock, rahman, donald) so i think toney has went up, but he's not at the top of the tower yet. he has to fight a legit HW, some may argue that ruiz is one, but comon he's lost to 2 gyz who used to be middlweights. next thing u'll c is mosely, or mayorga coming up to HW. what the next two fighters should do IMO
Ruiz - get a fight asap, n dun try to change ur style. its boring, but it works. theres different formulas for success
Toney - ur with DK, so u can try to unify the division. go after byrd, only fighter that doesn't have a scheduled fight yet. (as far as champs, VK-Rahman, brewster - golata).

Golata vs toney would be interesting. but ruiz is not that good. toney has to face a gy who knows how to fight, not wrestle. neways, ur feedback would be appreciated

How about Toney-Tyson. Two short heavyweights getting it on...Even though Tyson will knock Toney out.

Remember that this fight was put together very quickly and Toney was not in good condition, he still won. I think if Toney`s condition was due to the hasty arrangement of this fight then i expect him to be much better next time out. Golota/Brewster would be good for him, but i think he`ll need to beat one of these guys and perhaps a Sam peter to earn a chance against Klitscko!

Toney didn't need to be in great shape for this fight, Ruiz couldn't beat Toney on his worst day.

That's a KEY point here.

Toney wasn't in shape (as many kept endlessly harping on) and that was absolutly inconsequential.

Toney did (in poor shape) what MANY top Heavyweight contenders couldn't:

Made Ruiz look like the mediocre fighter his is.

Toney will never go after Byrd. He wants no part of him at heavyweight or anyweight. The big guys are slow and that is to Toneys advantage, Byrd would peck him apart. I think Tyson would be the perfect opponent for James.........Rockin' :boxing:

Toney is quicker than Byrd! And I don't think nobody can outbox Toney. The key to beat him is in the power wich Byrd is missing.

The key is to make Toney come to you. The guy is a counterpuncher with great reflexes and defensive skills. Power won't do you good when you can't hit him cleanly. Byrd will go on the defensive and force Toney to come to him, nullifying a lot of what makes Toney a great fighter.

Byrd will need to bring a LOT to beat Toney. Don't forget how poor he's looked in the last year or so.

Toney is not Oquendo.

If Toney trains in between now and the time he fights Byrd, a sharp Toney is an even up fight for Byrd.

Bryd has fear, I had fear and every fighter will come face to face with it. It how they handle it and what they do with it that makes a fighter a fighter. Did you say that you had boxed before?..............Rockin'

Toney is a more skilled version of Brewster. I can't believe so many people are hyping him up after beating a chump like JOHN RUIZ. I can't wait until Toney puts his money where his mouth is and fights VK. His belt will be ****in owned.

Actually King only has 2 heavyweight titles now because Toney is promoted by Goosen!

No, King now co promotes Toney along with Goosen.

Making Byrd vs Toney a logical fight for the summer.

ok i was wrong i admit it, i honestly thought ruiz would win... toney gets my props for a pretty good fight and beating a solid heavy.

btw that knockdown shouldnt have been scored and imo ruiz won that round if it wasnt for the knockdown. so if you make round 7 a 10-9 round for ruiz the scoring is very different.if my math is correct the fight would have been scored 114-114 a draw on 2 of the three cards. but nevermind no excuses...toney won

Yep, Don FINALLY has a piece of Toney after all these years!
It certainly took him long enough, but one thing you've got to give the old man, when it comes to him, a fighter can "never say NEVER".
Remember back during his run at middleweight & super-middleweight in the early to mid 90's how many times Toney would end his post fight interviews with "**** DON KING!"? LOL. :p
King had both Gerald McClellan & Nigel Benn back then & match ups with those two could never be made because Toney was tied up with Arum. And the inability of those two to work together always seemed to piss Toney off.
Amazing how, no matter how long it takes though, King always manages to get his man.

Not that Toney should be unhappy with the deal. It's quite obviously a mutually beneficial business decision for both men. In this game, you can never afford to burn your bridges because yesterday's enemy is today's best friend.
