who said he was done?
who said he was done?
Morales isn't done yet. I know he will be back. But there are sad thing we should accept here that MAB is the better fighter between them. :D And I'm convinced with this coz MAB is a smart, patient and a power puncher as compared with Erik. Erik should be humble the next time around and be a sportsman.
MexicanBoxer 11-29-2004, 09:18 PM people say that he can't go at it again butI say morales is a rare breed like a hgaler and Duran and lights out Toney in that they could go fight wars 4ever.
grayfist 11-29-2004, 10:23 PM An interesting fight, post trilogy and ranking alongside the prospect of MAB-JMM, Pac-Morales, is Morales-JMM. At 130lbs because I don't think Morales can make 126 anymore.
Morales can't control his urge to go to the trenches after being hit by a few. It would be a dandy when Erik comes blazing, while JMM counters! I'm guessing that they're just about even in the power department.
Even if, initially, Morales sits and merely jabs away with that stiff stuff he has, JMM will be issuing receipts for those jabs! T'will be punch-for-punch exchange! Just thinking about it, I can hardly exhale! ;)
Morales can not be done with the ring yet. He still has PPV-caliber fights ahead of him, one being that which is proposed above. Another is a meeting with Pac. Moreover, he still has much to even just contemplate retirement at this stage. :)
And, yes, who's so sure that there won't be a MAB-Morales IV?! Stranger things have happened... and a 4th edition is not really all that strange! :D
Sir_Jose 11-29-2004, 10:38 PM Of course he's not done. MAB is juts a bad matchup for him plain and simple and he always will be.
Zab Super Judah 11-29-2004, 10:46 PM morales is far from done.....and i would like to see a barrera vs morales 4 for the last time
Tha Greatest 11-29-2004, 11:11 PM morales is a ***** his additude gives him tha worse image
after tha fight at vegas i met tha commentator after tha fight
Jim Lampley
was sayin how morales has a really arrogant additude n that barrera gives him all tha respect in tha world
remember morales was sayin how barrera dont even deserve to fight him, barrera ****ed him up, it was once and for all, morales dont deserve a damn rematch, maybe if he showed a bit of respect he would deserve one
bigdlb12 11-29-2004, 11:17 PM Morales isnt over, but he does need to become a better sportsman and work on his defence,
borikua 11-29-2004, 11:42 PM He ain't done...He should go after Pac or Marquez and then maybe fight Barrera again.
Sir_Jose 11-30-2004, 12:00 AM oh bull****. Save me the whole MAB is nothing but a class act routine. MAB is the one that started the entire fued and MAB is the one who threw a punch at Morales at the press conference for fight #2. MAB is far from an Angel himself.

That's why there's the trilogy. This was the most clear cut win out of all 3 fights, dont you think it's settled on who is the better man? Or are you a Morales fan that wants revenge? :D
paulmmv 11-30-2004, 12:27 AM Morales is a great boxer who has a lot of years left

I dont think Morales is done but on the other hand I wouldnt be surprised if he was. The guy has been in alot of wars and people must remember this isnt the same ole Morales dominating shorter smaller fighters. He's with the big boys now. His punches dont hurt people in the bigger weight classes. If he wants to fight Pac Man or Marquez that's one thing but no way will he beat Castillo, Corrales, Frietas, or Cassamora. I dont even think he can defeat the Diaz boy's and he might cant defeat a two arm Chaves
jabsRstiff 11-30-2004, 06:41 AM I vaguely remember seeing pictures of MAB throwing one at Junior Jones over a dais during a pre-fight press conference... ;)
Gray....
It was Kennedy McKinney who took that cheap shot.
psychopath 11-30-2004, 06:56 AM Morales is not done yet . . .he is still young . . . he is a warrior . . . one or two loses doesn't end the career of such a great fighter . . . who ever said Morales is done must have tremendous hatred for the guy.
grayfist 11-30-2004, 07:30 AM Gray....
It was Kennedy McKinney who took that cheap shot.YES! :) That's how vague my memory was...didn't get the right guy! :o Thanx for the refresher, Jabs...!!! I owe ya, pal:)
Boxing fans are so fickle. First MAB was finished and one fight later he's the best thing since sliced bread again. Morales was one of the best p4p fighters in the world today and one fight later people are consigning him to the rubbish heap. Ridiculous!!
DR. FREECLOUD 11-30-2004, 09:13 AM i think some of the boxing scene community is finally being educated. mab has proven that a devastating loss does not end the career of all fighters. morales is a warrior and will bounce back no doubt. i will state again that just because mab can beat him does not mean that pac-man can.
Mikie 11-30-2004, 09:20 AM If I were Morales I would take a little time off so that Pacman-JMM beat each other up. Winner gets MAB then take the winner of that.

Ha. . .ha . . ha . . . get used to it. There are always two sides. If a fighter is performing well his followers talks and brags a lot if he starts to loose the other side attacks and push him down further that's why it looks that way. ;)

Good point Bro.
Tha Greatest 12-05-2004, 07:08 PM i dont think they should have #4.
it was called once and for all and they gave it all they got
they werent expectin a rematch
`STEELHEAD 12-06-2004, 02:20 AM Morales isnt over, but he does need to become a better sportsman and work on his defence,
I AGREE. HE ALSO NEEDS TO STAY DOWN IN WEIGHT.

Yes, just because a fighter loses does not necessarily mean it is over for him. boxing is a strange sport. fighters can always come back from a defeat.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 12-06-2004, 02:28 AM Morales cant fight wars forever but i think if he feels he can, he has the mentality, and physical talent to do so.
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 12-06-2004, 02:36 AM Also i know i beating a dead horse with a stick here but, Morales is a good sport, but he is a man too. He doesnt talk smack to talk smack otherwise he would just be a **** talker and never taken seriously. Mab has done so much stuff to El Terrible that in my opinion he was in all his right to not shake hands.
Lets not forget MAB didnt want to shake hands with Mckinney after their fight, only after the HBO commentators asked him why and seemed a little on the bad side did he decide to go over there and give him a hug.
And about the Power, Morales still hits hard at 130. He KDed Chavez and Hernandez (though Hernandez wasnt called).
Hernandez's words after the fight was "I was really feeling his punches so i felt i had to be right on him so he wouldnt hit me with one of them at full power, at the same time i smothered my own punches and didnt allow me to land anything big"

so damn true
its part of boxing
soon as a guy loses hes done
unless its your fighter
then ya know hes got more left in him
xzworks 09-20-2005, 02:22 PM morales is already a legend..legends never be gone.

Respect a guy that sucker punched him during a press conference? Yeah, right. As for Lampley, anything he says about it means very little cause HBO has always been pro Barrera and make no effort to hide it. The day I take Lampley serious is the day I quit the sport. THis isnt about who deserves what...it's about what the fans want and just how much money the network, etc. make when these two square off in the ring.

THANK YOU!!!!!! My point exactly!
jack_the_rippuh 09-20-2005, 03:03 PM The sucker punch was kind of excusable, because Morales was acting like a thug so Marco had to put him in check.
tracylee 09-20-2005, 03:15 PM The sucker punch was kind of excusable, because Morales was acting like a thug so Marco had to put him in check.
I disagree. Settle differences in the ring, or atleast give the guy a clue its coming...makes one look like a coward to sucker punch another fighter that way. I dont think he 'put him in check' by doing that either...if anybody came away from that looking bad it was Barrera, who lost a few fans for it. By the way, you cant just dismiss all the **** talking about Morales that Barrera did. From what I understand, he originally started all that, and Morales simply replied (cant swear to that, and I dont think anybody really can)
Kimmy 09-20-2005, 03:19 PM People say that the barrera / Morales feud has more to do with class difference. Morales is from a poor family while barrera a wealthy one. I think this has something to do with their hatred.

Probably, and the fact that both refuse to believe theres room in Mexico for two stars ( I read that was what the original lack of respect was about) I know Morales has said some nasty things about Barrera IN RESPONSE to Barrera, but also heard that Barrera went way WWAAAYYY beneath the line and said some really classless stuff. Who knows for sure??
IwatchBoxing 09-20-2005, 03:35 PM They just wanted to be better than the other, thats it..
Agave 09-20-2005, 04:02 PM Morales called Barrera 'm a r i c o n' thats why he got hit in the face! They were face to face when it happen & yes It happen at a press conference at the Houston Airport! :D

I've never liked Morales and he looks the type to provoke people. He has that kinda face you just wanna hit, probably why he became a boxer.

None of that makes it right. ESPECIALLY when you consider all the many, many names Barrera has called him. Fighters trash talk, but most of them dont throw sucker punches in response....they settle it in the ring.

I heard that aswell, and if that's the case, that's pretty stupid. They should both respect each other as fighters imo.
