I disagree. I had round 1 going either way and Shogun taking the remaining 4, and 3-5 hands down.

Its sad the way the world is these days. Just because he didnt dominate Shogun the way he does everybody else people act as if hes no good

he is a great fighter even tho i think he lost it was a close fight, when your fighting a champ in ufc you need to ko/tko him to win in ufc!

I still think he's an exceptional fighter, and am still a huge fan. I don't think he beat Shogun though, not even pipped him to the post. I still think Lyoto is gonna be in and around the top of the 205 ladder for a long time.

Not I. I still am a fan. I hate ***** ass fanboys who jump ship like that. I haven't seen his fight with Shogun but heard he lost clearly. Whatever. I still like the guy.

I think Machida underestimated Shogun. Machida didn't seem to have any kind of game plan other than counter the more aggressive Shogun, but it backfired because Shogun was the one with game plan and was more judicious than Machida would expect.

The rounds were close, but the final scorecard shouldn't have been. I think Shogun did enough to win 3 or 4 close rounds. Machida did stuff a lot of takedown attempts, but Shogun did way more damage with leg kicks and Machida wasn't busy enough.

That being said, I can't wait for the rematch. I think Machida can take it this time if he's more focused, but Shogun proved he has what it takes to be a world champ. He would of probably been the champion in Pride, but he didn't want to challenge his best buddy Wanderlei.

I never really liked him, his style was pretty boring, although I do like that he is actually finishing fights now. I like more aggressive fighters...
