View Full Version : Boxing camp / vacation.
GoogleMe 01-02-2010, 02:07 PM Hi everyone, I'm 20 years old at kickstarting my amateur boxing career. I've been boxing for some years on and off now and finaly aiming for the goal to be Danish champion before or in 2015. I'd like to spend the summer or atleast a week at a boxing academy/camp if it was possible. I've tried lookin on the internet, but all I found was camps for thaiboxing in Thailand. Is it possible to find such places? Just hit me up with whatever you got or whatever you find, or tell if it is at all possible.

One more round 01-03-2010, 05:00 AM You should talk to PunchDrunk, an amateur boxing coach in Denmark, if there was anything like that there he would know. However he hasn't posted here in a good 4-5 months.
One more round 01-03-2010, 05:09 AM Although it does say he logged in 4 days ago, so send him a message and see if there's anything. There's bound to be camps of that nature there, and doubtless he would know about them, however depending on your level of experience they may not be open to you (that's how it is sometimes)
Anyway meassge him and try your luck, here's the link to his profile

GoogleMe 01-03-2010, 07:54 AM Thing is that I'd like to travel, though if I could do something around Denmark it'd be cool too. Mexico, US, other places in Europe would be a good experience.
GoogleMe 01-03-2010, 08:02 AM And thanks for your answer :) are you from Denmark also, since you know about PunchDrunk being an amateur trainer?
I know of some boxing camps in Thailand if you are interested. Not everything here's muay thai, and there are some good boxing coaches around.

I'd love if you could hit me up with some information. Especially Thailand is a great place :)

Nah. He just used to post on here a bit and he is very experienced and knows what he is talking about. And you are welcome.
The forum's telling me I can't post URLS to other sites because I'm too n00b. Google these gyms:
pattaya kombat group
^I've never been here but they offer camps for boxing in Pattaya with accomodations.
For Bangkok google these guys:
-boxer rebellion bangkok
-bangkok fight club
^These places have western boxing coaches. There are more gyms than that but I don't know their names off hand. There are several Thai gyms that coach boxing too but they might not take your training seriously and there are language problems etc.
Hope that helps, good luck!

It just seems like it's an unwanted sport for the academys? Not really on the schedule and so on? I might be wrong. + their sparring video looked like they've been training for a few months only.
I think you're right. I guess the only advantage of training here would be that you get to live in Thailand for a while. You're probably going to find more serious coaches and sparring partners back home and for about the same cost.
GoogleMe 01-07-2010, 02:59 PM Hehe, then I'm back to ground zero. Any more help? :)
GoogleMe 01-07-2010, 03:00 PM Could I contact a trainer in mexico/US and eventually talk to him for a stay for about a week or two, and then attend to their gymtime for a payment?
ntate88 01-09-2010, 02:56 PM There is a gym in tenerife called the TKO gym. It is a proper boxing training camp in the mountains. It is used constantly by David haye (heavyweight champ), amongst many other pros and elite fighters. it is so good because of its location, it is based miles away from distractions on top of a huge mountain which is especially good for your runs because of its steepness and very high altitude. it has nice rooms with an amazing view and kitchen facilities.Although its very nice it is a training camp so they give it that feel by not providing any distractions like Tv an internet n stuff but if you really have to im sure you can get for extra

It seemed so pro. I'm looking for basic/ a little better amateur training... Hmm. Seems like something that's just not gonna happen.
Trrmo 01-11-2010, 05:22 PM I have a backpacker hostel here in Quito Ecuador and access to a gym where the the Cubans come to train before international tournaments because we at 2850metres. The Ecuadorian national team also train at this gym. The style of training is similiar to the Cuban system. If you are interested pm me.
