Try Spybot and Adaware, both free to download. For anti-virus etc try AVG, again it's free :) Oh, and keep off the ****o sites ;)

Spot on. Probably the best Anti-Hijacker program out there. Just be careful what you remove with it. I use strictly that, and a script blocker (Avast), and haven't had problems. Of course I also use Mozilla exclusively, and allow no popups, and only session cookies (or none at all) except from sites like this. Also, Mozilla is great for blocking banner ads.

It helps if you don't surf or download ****. That's the best place to get trojans.

I gotta question...do the countries that are implicated in the long-distance number scams see any of the money? What I mean is that are these private companies that are running their long distance companies or are they state-run groups?

I'm assuming it's private companies, but even so the governments must know about what's going on and collect a good amount of tax revenue off of these firms.

A friend of mine recently noticed a dialler had come down and was switching her connection to one at ~ £2 a minute! She didn't know how long it had been operating, but estimates her phone bill could be up to £1000! All down to her son downloading mucho ****o!
