Pulled from MMAWeekly.com

Tim Sylvia wasn't happy to hear that Minotauro Nogueira wouldn't be fighting him at UFC 53. "They (UFC) told me they would get somebody from Japan for me to fight and Noguiera seemed like the guy. I was hoping it would be him, but I don't blame him. It's a dangerous fight for him." Sylvia told MMAWeekly.

Actually, Sylvia is the lucky one here. Another loss for him, and he'd be joining Lawler on the b-level circuit.

UFC didnt have anything to gain by bringing Nog in for 1 fight. They would have to pay his salery which is like around $200,000 a fight. The average MMA fan and the new ones would have no idea who he was, and he would of beat there former champion fairly easily IMO. It would be great for us more knowlegeable/hardcore mma fans but the average Joe aint gonna give a ****....

Yup, plus what's in it for Nog? What does he have to gain by fighting Sylvia when he's already beat some of the top HW's in the world. If the UFC was going to throw that kind of money around they wouldn't get someone that would make their fighter look silly like Nog would against any UFC HW.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense for the UFC to sign Nog, nor does it make any sense for Sylvia to smugly talk about how bad a man he is. He should be thankful to still be able to use his limbs and that the UFC hasn't dropped interest in him yet.

Pride should send Ogawa to beat Sylvia's ass and present the chicken dance to America.

Actually, Syliva is right. It is a dangerous fight for him. Nogueira would have nothing to gain and everything to lose. I mean, we all know Tim has a lot of power in his hands. He might be slow and a fish out of water on the ground, but if he does hit you, you are in trouble. Ask Ricco about that.

Its also interesting to remember that when Ricco and Nogueira fought, they were dead even.

First, Nog's chin is way better than Ricco's. If cro cop couldn't KO Nog then I'm doubting Tim can. 2nd, Ricco is a grappler, Sylvia isn't. That's why he was able to hang with Nog on the ground. He controled Nog's hips and laid on him for 15 minutes.
Also what does Nog vs Ricco have to do with Sylvia vs Nog? Sylvia and Ricco are two different style fighters.

All I am saying is Syliva has a punchers chance and has gotten that one big shot before against a guy who has very similar styles to Noguera. BTW, Cro Cop did have Nog K.Oed, he just ran out of time in the first round.

Also, don't get me started on Nogueira vs Rodriguiez. I watched that fight with you and you had the same reaction I did afterwards. Ricco got screwed.

Nog wasnt Koed, when the bell rang he got up and walked to his corner, he didnt even stumble. I can see you saying that if he looked like Enson did after the first round against Igor ended. But he just got knocked down, not out....

Fallout sucks!!!!

And I disagree with what he said about Nog and Ricco having similar style, Yes they're both grapplers, but Ricco is wrestling based and Nog is JJ based. Nog has way better boxing then ricco, and he's almost impossible to KO. Sylvia should watch his ****ing mouth.

this is like the time people thought tank would KO frank mir. tank got caught up in 2 submissions at the same time in less than a minute.

very true and funny.

See, normaly I would wonder what fight you guys were watching but in this case, I know. I watched the fight with a lot of you. I even turned to Kaps and said Nog was lucky the first round ended when it did and you agreed with me.

If I was right then, why am I wrong now?

Also, most of you seem to think that I would be picking Syliva in this fight. I am not retarded. If the fight hit the ground, it would be over within a 30 seconds. All of you seem to think that just because I feel Syliva is a dangerous fight means I think he would beat Noguiera. 99 times out of a 100, Nogueira wins this fight. However, that 1 time could happen when dealing with a guy that has one punch power.

Tim has shown he has one punch power. As good as any chin is, getting smacked right on the button is going to get you K.Oed.

Unfortunatley for you that one time isn't really worth talking about.

That one time seems to happen a lot in MMA. Thats why its a dangerous fight.

Christ, it seems I can't say anything the rest of you don't agree with. All I said was that Syliva was right when he said he is a dangerous fight.

Its the same way Babalu was a dangerous fight for Chuck when he fought him at UFC 40. We all knew Chuck was a huge favorite but that it wouldn't be totaly impossible for him to lose. Thats what my point is.

Man, you said Nog was KO'ed. When you're KO'ed, you're knocked unconscious. Maybe you have a looser definition of the term KO'ed. I don't know. Yes, Nog was floored, but he wasn't knocked out. If you want to argue with me on that point, you'll lose 100 percent of the time.

Anyway, I started this thread because I think Sylvia is a meathead. That's all.

What I meant by "K.Oed" was he was on queer street and if Mirko had the time to drop a flurry on him he would of been done (most likely). He might of been awake but he had no clue were he was there for a bit. As we all know, thats all it takes.

And yeah, Syliva does appear to have a bit of meat between his ears but he does make a good point. If I were Nog, I wouldn't really want to fight Syliva ethier. Nothing to gain, you are fighting someone that has nothing to lose and you aren't going to be getting anything extra out of it.

I would like to see a re-match between Ricco and Nog. Everyone knows my opinion of that fight and I know for once I am not alone in that opinion. It would be interesting to see how that fight would play out if elbows were allowed.

Well Ricco had a tough time with Scott Junk from the reports this weekend.......I don't think he wants in there with Nog just yet.

I think Nogs boxing has improved substantially since his last fight with Ricco, his left jab is very fast.

Ever since Arlovski decided to fight the way he fights best rather than trying to beat his opponent at his own game, he has become an amazing fighter.

Arvloski kicks ass. He and Nog would have a great fight I think. Sylvia would get submitted early. I'd actually like to see Mir and Nog fight. How did Nog not know where he was Creed? The bell rang and he got up and walked to his corner, he got knocked down and was tryin to pull guard right away.....
