I just got access to the torrents and was still trying to download my first file and they were telling me I had to seed more because my ratio was too low. Tried my best to explain myself, but it's like talking to a bank machine. Whatever. I don't know if this karma thing is supposed to worry me, but so far it doesn't.

Ah, okay, well I don't go to the torrents section much cause I'm firewalled at work and only have dial-up at home. People can get touchy about ratios especially cause the torrent section there is just getting off the ground. Looks like your ratio is pretty decent now, though.

Karma and points only matter if you want them to. I'll hit you up with some good karma now just to get you a bit back in the blue...hopefully Abdiel won't dock me any because I'm helping out his enemies :cool: .

Abdiel's mostly illiterate, so I can see how he misunderstood. Rick started a thread about how he banned 15 people because all they were doing was leeching. I said EVERYONE should get banned from the downloads for a while, just to remind them to start sharing because as a new member I was having a hard time getting anything (20 people have downloaded a file, none of them are seeding it, etc). I'd left my client open for days trying to get the Tyson Collection, and it was coming in at about 1 kbps.

That's it. First file, and I was still trying to get it. Whatever I'd seeded was a result of what little had been leeched from me while my client sat open, chugging along slowly because hardly anyone was seeding it.

So Kapersky comes on, pointing at different people's share ratio's, going "Yours is too low. So is yours. You'd better seed more." I was one of the people he pointed at, so I'm like "Hold it. If people would seed the damned file so I could download it, I'd seed the hell out of it. I'm new -- can you give me a sec?" Besides, his share ratio was less than 50%, so he'd leeched double what he'd seeded. Hardly gives him the right to talk **** about everyone else.
