compare modern era fighters "number of fights" compare to a fighter from SRR time so to speak.

A lot of boxing fans say that fighters should fight once every fortnight or once a month like the old days..

dis-credit modern era fighters for having a average of 35/40 fights during their career and then say its nothing look at SRR.. look how many fights hes had blah blah

Times have changed people, fighst these days have to promoted.. seats have to be sold, ppv.. etc basically what im trying to say is that its all about the money!!!

Your telling if SRR was fighting today, he would have the same number of fights. No.. but he sure would have a lot more world titles than he did.

Anybody becomes a world champion these days, even gavin rees.. exactly WHO? lol

i dont think its a discredit that fighters today fight a fewer amount of fights but the reasons behind less fights are simple...

fights in the old days got made faster b/c there werent so many leeches looking for their piece of the pie, there werent so many bs sanctioning bodies and there werent very many regulations.

also, fighters had to fight often because they didnt get paid very much and they had to keep the lights on, ya know?

sounds like your saying SRR was never promoted, fought in empty theaters and his fights never recorded... the truth is that SRR fought to packed venues making millions of dollars his whole career, where as todays fighters are only interested in their unbeaten records

PPV was a factor in the fact that fighters can be nursed through 20 fights then thrown into a title shot with their 0 take a beating and have made enough money to retire.
Also it was a lot harder to get a title shot in the old days, rather than beat a sacrificial lamb that Don King has somehow got sanctioned into the top ten you used to have to knock the top ten off one by one.
It certainly hasn't made for better fighters, to get better at something you have to do it more, same in boxing as anything else in life.
I'm not saying go back to fighting once a fortnight but a fight once a month or every two months shouldn't be beyond fighters.
Will mean risking that precious 0 more though!
