I wonder if HBO plans on putting out a DVD with all three fights on it? They could have the fights and all the background story, including the 2nd fight press conference scuffle and everything else behind the hate these two have for each other...I'd buy it.
Anyone else agree it'd be a good idea?

That is a great idea. I hope they do that someday.
Yeah, definitely... In fact, why don't HBO and Showtime do official DVD releases of all their big fights anyway? They'd make a killing.

While HBO may televise, the promoters technically "own" the fight and HBO couldnt distribute it without the promoters ok, and I dont think HBO would want to pay the promoter royalties plus a fee to purchase the entire footage....As we all know an agreement with monetary value usually turns things sour in boxing.

yeah its the promoters standing in the way as usual of what the public wants.
Good point... How about when they replay footage of previous fights in order to promote another bout on their channel? You would have thought they had ownership in some form or another? I think the powers that be should think about stipulating the rights to fights at some point. Let's face it, the promoters aren't about to start selling official DVDs are they?
Boxing needs a shot in the arm and it could do a lot worse than giving Joe Public some of the sports better moments on DVD, instead of just getting the Thrilla in Manilla or the Rumble in the Jungle or something else with Ali's name on it. I've shown Gatti V Ward to people and made them instant converts to the sport. Boxing isn't just about Ali in the 70's!!!!

We dont need anymore stipulations in boxing it is bad enough....
I agree with what you are saying, When you see clips on tv it is usually to hype up another fight like when HBO played vernon vs mayorga and felix vs joppy, King was most likely "Ok show these fights to promote mayorga vs trinidad"
It is all in promotion and promoters wont hesitate to "lend" footage if it means more jingle in their pockets...However when it comes to them not making all of the jingle they usually step away which is why you dont see them.....
