Alot of people around here are fans but there are also alot that think he is a fat gob****e of a middleweight who is only in the heavys cos he's a lazy greedy ****a.
Personally I'm a fan, he does talk alot of **** but i pretty much ignore that most of the time.
Onto the fight with Ruiz, If toney wins well (by stoppage or wide UD) will all the haters say well what did he beat - Ruiz is one of the worst heavy champs in years who is very lucky to be champ and the first pair of decent fighters he fought (who happened to be a blown up LH) he lost too.
Or does ruiz deserve more credit He's 1-1-1 with holy (a future HOF), he's beaten a handful of top ten contenders in the years he's held the title and will they say fair play to Toney whos now a 4 division champ, only the second man who was a former middle to win the heavy title, give the man credit.
I like Toney and hope he wins and is around for another 4 fights or so (hopefully unification).
And before anyone gives me i'm a nuthugger bull**** - don't bother.
Just because I'm a fan of a fighter doesn't mean i can't see their faults, and i can see why people pick ruiz to beat him (easy too in some peoples eyes), i just think Toney's skill will allow him to pick up enough points inbetween all the hugging **** from Ruiz for the decision, I'm hoping for a ruiz ko loss though ala tua but we can all dream :)

Toney would be the 3rd to accomplish being a former middleweight champion to become a heavyweight titleholder (Fitzsimmons, Jones Jr., Toney).

Although I pick Ruiz to win, I am rooting for Toney. Toney gets on my nerves but I just cannot root for Ruiz, no way in hell. If Toney beats Ruiz, it will not be as significant as when Roy did it, because Roy did it first and Ruiz has had more wear and tear on him since then.

However, if he does win, it will help add to his "legacy". Toney definitely has a chance to win and if he can win big, perhaps by stoppage, that woul be even greater. Ruiz is one of the top 3 heavyweights out there no matter how you slice it, so he is legit despite his ugly "style". It seems to me that the board is 50-50 on this fight as to who they think will win, so if Toney wins I better not hear people say it was obvious he was going to win and downplay the accomplishment like they did when Jones did it.

If James Toney the Phoney wins good for him, he beat another heavyweight contender just like Holyfield. Roy Jones Jr. already beat Ruiz, so if Toney beats him he is definetly the best heavyweight out there. Like I've been saying, this guy is a fake, and come April 30th, Ruiz will put Toney to sleep, and I'll see it live.

if he beat ruiz i will look him like holyfield who fough on lower weight and move up and be champ in the heavier weight aswell. a real warrior and great fighter. toney would get all credit he deserv. i think toney is better than jones as a heavyweight fighter. it will be intresting to see that fight. ;)

If James Toney beats Ruiz, he will become P4P#1, the heaveyweight divsion is unlimited in weight, moving up to become champion is big.

ruiz is gonna show toney what greco-roman boxing is all about :D

i pick toney to win, though. he's far more determined than ruiz.

If he wins, I view him as a Heavyweight Champion. Ruiz hits hard enough for a heavy, takes a decent punch for a heavy, and can go the distance. Talk all the ****e about Ruiz you want (and I do) but hes beatin most of the guys I said he wouldnt. A win will legitimize Toney in the heavyweight division as well as adding another trophy to an already Canastota bound boxer. Toney by stoppage or wide UD.

He'll be a bit more credible IMO, but the heavyweight division is just so weak....
