With all the Scarface talk in the forum these days I thought I'd ask if anyone knew this. I can think of a reference from '89 (I won't share it to see if anyone else knows it) but probably there are some that are even earlier.

I know what you're saying, but I was watching it again recently and the thing is that Tony Montana is really one of the most compelling characters ever put on film. I mean, he seems like a real person. Having a million memorable quotes doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, if people look up to him they're a bit dim. Like, did they miss the last hour of the movie?

Sorry for hijacking your thread. I should have posted this complaint in the giant strokefest which is the "Scarface: Greatest Gangster Movie Ever?" thread.

No problem. I haven't actually read much in that thread. I was just posting this one because I thought it was interesting, not cause I though everyone in the world should worship this movie and/or the rappers that worship it.

I understand that, and Im not bashing you. Sorry if it sounded that way.

The question you ask is actually a very good trivia question IMO. What makes it a good trivia question is the fact that every rapper in the 90's probably compared himself to Scarface in some way at least 500 times.

No problem, I didn't think you were bashing me anyway. No need to apologize.

I was surprised at the reference I found because I didn't think that there would be any that were that old. I heard the song a million times before I saw the movie again a bunch of years ago and recognized the lines. It makes me think that there's probably an even older reference out there.

Technically not, since it came out in 1990, I believe. However I think you still win cause Scarface was using that name for a long time before that.

I didn't listen to these guys much, so I completely forgot about them. Nice catch.
