View Full Version : Wlad vs Castillo fight stopped early?
enadeus 04-23-2005, 10:24 PM Don't know if anyone here will agree with me but it looked to me that Castillo was ready to go and he was running over to the neutral corner. He didn't look like the was hurt. I have no idea why the referee stopped the fight, it was definetly early and the two punch combination landed didn't seem that fierce. Fixed fight?

....Shut the **** up already. That guy didn't even want to be in the ring with Wlad. He offered nothing at all.

Yes, Castillo showed a very bad performance, I agree and I'm a fan of Wlad, however I think the stoppage was a little too quick. Don't get mad there, I didn't say anything too crazy.
IwatchBoxing 04-23-2005, 10:28 PM Castillo threw the fight, the Germens fixed it, all Castillo did was block and let him slip in punches, than pretend to stagger for a stoppage.

.....Yeah, I kinda like Cintron but when you talk **** like that I hope he got knocked the **** out tonight.

Who gives a f##k what you want, obously Wald gave a boring performance tonight(his last fights too), jabing a guy whos only blocking, than getting an easy win, what are you excited about?
Antonik 04-23-2005, 10:44 PM I was really dissapointed. I hoped for a nice match with alot of punches but it was bland. Hopefully Klitschko will fight someone better next time like bird ;)
....Well if you listened to all the Klit haters Castillo was a stud who was gonna take Wlad out in the later rounds. He looked to be ****ting his pants more than McCline was.

Are you a fan of target practice? ;)

Yeah your right. The Germans got Castillo to throw the fight. Castillo looked a lot like the other 44 quitters Wlad beat, especially the 40 ko'ed quitters.
Stupid Germans, first it's the Jews and then it's the Wlad opponents. You should do something!

Castillo didn't do a damn thing for 4 rounds. Why worry about coming out for the fifth?
This fight sucked ass and would have been the dog of the ESPN PPV...

That's way more likely than the ref being involved.

eggsmackly
he really didnt wanna be in thier
plus who ever said it didnt look that fierce
i kinda agree
but i do think it merited the stoppage
couldve gave him a second chance
but it would just been a second chance to get hurt more
cuz as pbds said
he wasnt offering much of a fight
moochi 04-24-2005, 02:50 AM great post as i think something similar......fixed no, but the guy didn't come to fight.....thus took a semi-dive.....
i have serious questions about the knockdown, and definitely castillo not getting up....although i would attribute these to Castillo himself rather than "fixing".
even when castillo was on his ass, he wobbled his jaw a couple times as if he needed to recompose his jaw.......although the funny thing was that he didn't get hit on the jaw at all.......he got hit in the face on the nose..........
Exciterx24 04-24-2005, 03:32 AM I'll watch the replay tommorrow but it looked legit to me. Maybe Castillo did the jaw thing just because or maybe he was embarrased. Like when a fighter gets knocked down and sometimes gets up smiling. Acelino Freitas was all smiles when Barrios knocked him down the first time. Still, Wladimir landed a punch, unlike Hopkins pat on De La Hoya.

Yep, you're right. For sure. No doubt about it.
Those damned Germans!
They're almost as bad as those folks behind all those fixed
fights in Pennsylvania, you know?
I mean, after the way that Antonio Margarito owned Kermit Citron last night & KTFO of him so easily, it's obviously that all his fights were fixed too. Right?

Thanks dude. :D
hollister 04-24-2005, 08:46 AM You know, you can be stunned and even knocked out from a punch to the forehead and even the middle of the face. When Wlad landed that first right hand, Castillo was backing away. That's why it snapped his head back more, but he didn't drop. But if you notice, he tensed up and kind of squatted for that last one, that's why it didn't snap his head back as much, but obviously rattled him quite a bit. Just a thought.
BrooklynBomber 04-24-2005, 10:09 AM Well I am sober again so i can give my legitimate opinion. The stoppage was ok. The guy was getting owned anyway and if the fight continued he would have just gotten owned even more. Damn what a party we had 2 of my favorite fighters won yesterday. Damn, Margarito owned Cintron just beautifully.
I'll bet before the fight started out with, Castillo was being filled with praise about this movement and speed from his staff, expecting to have the ability to control space in the ring and to move all over the tall rusty robot.
Once he gets in there and has the ring cut off, no matter which way he moves, his confidence is shot. His whole plan was on the ropes.. WK had a jab he couldnt get around, the body blows he landed weren't fazing WK, and the he couldn't shake WK off of him. That alone will kill deterimination.
