This was a tough fight to score.

You had to deduct one point from Whitaker, because of the WBC rules back then. If you caused an accidental headbutt, one point was deducted from you. Stupid rules but that's how it went.

I scored it 113-113 a draw. Without the point deduction from Whitaker, I'd have him winning by a score of 114-113.

How did you score it?

I also scored it 113-113.

It's been awhile since I watched it and scored it, I can't find my RBR scoring. Not really a fight I care to watch again in its entirety to re-score it.

I had it very close as well. Could have gone either way or ended up a draw.

I thought Whitaker won, and it wasn't even that close. By the end of the fight, Whitaker was in such control, that he was actually backing Oscar up.

Just watched it again. Same score :- 113-113. Absurd WBC rule!

I scored it 114-113 Whittaker but wasn't aware of the WBC rule so I guess that's a draw! Sweet Pea landed slightly more, but less damaging punches. The kind of fight where you can't pick a defining winner and could care less who takes it. Slap a draw on that ****.

Judging by the answers here, it was a close fight that could have gone either was. This is good because this was also going to be my answer.

I think the real controversy was how wide a margin that was given to De La Hoya.Whitaker made De La Hoya look real stiff and robotic but when Oscar wasn't throwing those pointless flurries,he was able to land with hard single shots which gave him the slight edge in my scoring.

The fight should of been a draw because neither did enough to win the fight. I had DLH up by 1/2 points at the end, however i still maintain that neither man deserved to win the fight.
