View Full Version : is the eliptical good for losing weight? boxing2106 12-18-2009, 02:00 AM 2 days ago i was 139 pounds.. im currently 133.5 after the workout today.. after dinner i probably gained a pound or so.. it has shown that its effective but i wanna kno what you guys think. post opinions MANGLER 12-18-2009, 02:04 AM Yea it is. Full body; chest, arms, legs, and a lil burn in your back. I use the star climber at the gym. I got an elliptical bike and a nordictrack here in my house. It's gr8 cardio. You gotta be persistent to see results, but it don't just burn calories, it does burn fat. shogunn 12-18-2009, 07:58 AM using an elliptical will burn calories, so yes it would help you lose weight. Same as running, swimming, jump ropes, etc. But eating more than you burn wont help you. VipersThunder 12-18-2009, 08:36 AM Elliptical's are for girls dude. Grow some testicles. vercingetorix3 12-18-2009, 11:56 AM 2 days ago i was 139 pounds.. im currently 133.5 after the workout today.. after dinner i probably gained a pound or so.. it has shown that its effective but i wanna kno what you guys think. post opinions A good chunk of that is just water weight... But yea, the elliptical isn't bad, there isn't as much stress on your joints as opposed to running. I set mine on max resistance to get the most efficient workout in the shortest amount of time. But I suggest you change it up once in awhile to maintain intensity (I do elliptical, jump rope, and running, albeit I haven't done the last one lately). AC111 12-18-2009, 04:24 PM Because of my knees right now im unale to run ....ive been using this machine and it seems pretty good. A couple of days ago i did 4.01 miles in 30 minutes(not sure if this is good or not) and i was going pretty quick---and felt like i just did quite a serious bit of cardio. Try the different settings to change it up a bit. Im 6'0 and about 67-72 kg(depending) so i dont really need to lose weight that much but im pretty sure if you use it wisely you will see results. PittyPat 12-18-2009, 05:29 PM Hell yeah the elliptical is good. I completely ditched the exercise bike after using it, because it make you lose far more and with seemingly less effort. (28 pounds gone in 6 months.) TheBlackSwifty 12-18-2009, 05:38 PM Idiot thread with mostly idiot answers. |
