View Full Version : The Anthony guy in the Contender... !! Anorak 04-22-2005, 07:07 PM ... I've just seen the episode where he turned down a fight and all the others turned on him. But why did he do it? I missed the first twenty minutes. The Fix 04-22-2005, 07:11 PM its because he didnt want to be pressured into fighting someone that he didnt want to. he said from the begining of the episdoe that he would fight that cooper guy and he told everyone else to try hard in the challenge so he could pick lange but that was a lie so that he could pick cooper Tha Greatest 04-22-2005, 07:29 PM its because he didnt want to be pressured into fighting someone that he didnt want to. he said from the begining of the episdoe that he would fight that cooper guy and he told everyone else to try hard in the challenge so he could pick lange but that was a lie so that he could pick cooper lol and he chose to fight a bum that lost to reggie strickland and couldn't avenge it, in the rematch got a draw! thats soooo bad It was a smart thing from Basante, he's gonna have to fight some tough people sooner or later, but why fight tough guys from the beginning and get injuries etc. and not be able to contine? Juan De La Rosa fought a tough man in Tarick, then he injured his neck, and hands and got a cut, Anthony just beat up a bum and gets more money lol I dunno what they all *****in about...it's boxing, u gotta be ready for anyone, not one guy.....ANYONE! !! Anorak 04-22-2005, 08:07 PM So he overrode (who?) and went for an easy option? That sucks. SacTown1 04-22-2005, 08:20 PM Bonsante sucks, and he knows it, so he lied to his team-mates, chose the softest fighter in the competition, and whupped the guy...Bonsante knows that the 1st punch he eats from Ishe or Manfredo or Mora will put him in a coma, so he needs to make a little more scratch for his kiddies so that they'll put that bogus "#1 daddy" hat on his shrivelled carcass of a head in the hospital Tha Greatest 04-22-2005, 08:25 PM Bonsante sucks, and he knows it, so he lied to his team-mates, chose the softest fighter in the competition, and whupped the guy...Bonsante knows that the 1st punch he eats from Ishe or Manfredo or Mora will put him in a coma, so he needs to make a little more scratch for his kiddies so that they'll put that bogus "#1 daddy" hat on his shrivelled carcass of a head in the hospital u funny my fellow sacramento friend joe kurtz 04-22-2005, 11:48 PM Bonsante sucks, and he knows it, so he lied to his team-mates, chose the softest fighter in the competition, and whupped the guy...Bonsante knows that the 1st punch he eats from Ishe or Manfredo or Mora will put him in a coma, so he needs to make a little more scratch for his kiddies so that they'll put that bogus "#1 daddy" hat on his shrivelled carcass of a head in the hospital Do you not follow the game very closely? Because it seems that if you did, that you'd be aware that Anthony Bonsante already fought Peter Manfredo last year & that the fight went the full 12 rounds. So, it was hardly a case of him being "put into a coma" by the first solid punch he got hit with from a good fighter. FAR from it. Bonsante may not be a world beater, but he's a good, solid, experienced pro who's got a very respectable record against decent opposition. Sure, many of the names on his record are the usual "also rans" from the mid-west circuit, but he's also mixed with better company as well with fair results. He dropped a decision to Kingsley Ikeke, then drew with unbeaten olympian Rioshi Wells. He dropped a close one to the much more experienced two time world title challenger Tocker Pudwill, but rebounded by knocking out the aged, but still hard hitting & tough Tony Ayala Jr.. Following that he took Manfredo 12. So, though you may not think much of him & he may not go on to win it all, there's NO WAY that Ishe, Manfredo or Mora knocks him out. Much less with one shot. Lol999 04-23-2005, 07:01 AM I can't fault Bonsante. he's putting food on the table for his kids and at turned 30 his years are limited. If you get paid for each fight hell i'd pick the softest ****er there every time and maximise my earnings. Ishe has got some brass balls toi criticise Bonsante after he cried like a ***** because he didn't want to fight Ahmed but found himself backed into it. At least Bonsante had the balls to stick with his game when it all came out. Lol The Pretender 04-23-2005, 10:58 AM Anthony's was a ***** imo the way he chose his fight and gave that one sided beating to the other guy. He was winning every round yet it looked like he was trying to murder the man he knew couldn't beat him. I cannot wait for Ishe to stomp his cowardly hide into the canvas! And I hate that entire "working man supporting my family" act he plays for sympathy. Give me a ****ing break! The guy works at a Walmart...what do you expect? Go back to school, get an education, and get a better job. Ishe ought to toss out a handful of foodstamps in the ring just to distract him for an easy KO! I can't wait to see who they bring back to replace Juan. I hope it's Ahmed for some more drama with Ishe and not to mention those two were clearly the top fighters so far along with Peter. It'll especially be great to see Anthony get beat down and back at Walmart again! woodybox2004 04-24-2005, 01:46 AM [QUOTE=The Pretender]Anthony's was a ***** imo the way he chose his fight and gave that one sided beating to the other guy. That sucks. sucked big time... and now in a trailer for the final 8, i think he pulled his hamstring... good for him... Lol michael caine sucks man. ur idolizing the wrong person.. however, that 'Rupret' thing him and steve martin did in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was classic. joe kurtz 04-24-2005, 07:32 AM Anthony's was a ***** imo the way he chose his fight and gave that one sided beating to the other guy. It'll especially be great to see Anthony get beat down and back at Walmart again! WTF are you talking about?!! What the hell was Bonsante supposed to do with Cooper, take it easy on him? Carry him the distance? Give me a break! And what's this **** about him supposedly knowing that Cooper "cound't beat him"? BULL****! That's absolutely THE quickest way to defeat there is! Why would he be stupid enough to think that his opponent "couldn't beat him"? Any fighter who goes into the ring believing that DESERVES to lose! Bonsante's stradegy behind picking Cooper as his opponent had nothing to do with his knowing that Cooper "couldn't beat him" or knowing that Jimmy Lange could. His decision was based on styles. Anyone with a brain for the game, ESPECIALLY a fighter, knows that styles make fights. And Bonsante knew that while he'd struggle with Lange's, he wouldn't with Cooper's. So why should he have picked an opponent in Lange who's height, reach & style he knew would trouble him? It would make absolutely NO SENSE for him to do so. To hell with what his team mates wanted him to do! IMO he'd have beat Jimmy Lange anyways, but with only 5 rounds to work with to try to figure somewhat out & break them down, why take the chance? Bonsante's no "*****". He made a smart, professional decision. dangerousity 04-24-2005, 09:47 AM I agree with the whole fighting for family thing, it gets a bit boring when after a few weeks thats still the same story. Only one who had a different story was Najai, he had a more interesting story being the loner..shame he had to go. Ahmed also had a different story, seemed like he was just fighting to reach the top and be a rich bastard. Also, boxers are suppose to be warriors but these guys really are a bunch of crybaby's. Im not sure if their told to act that or something for drama purpose's but seing a grown man about to cry over a suit and never telling his mom he loves her makes me kinda cringe, specially on worldwide TV. lol. For people saying Ant picked the easiest opponent, who cares. I dont think he viewed him as easy, that would be a mistake. In the end, everyone in the show is there to win, I dont think Cooper thought "oh Im a soft guy and bonsante is a bully". Their all suppose to be contenders and if your weak then might aswell loose now than later. I still dont know how Cooper got in the show with his record, they had thousands of applicants. Also, b4 the end of the fight others were saying "knock him out brent", I dont think they totally predicted Bonsante anihilating him. Its only after teh fight they started crap about him picking the smaller guy. Anyways from watching Lange fight, I think bonsante would probably have anihilated him too. Styles make fights but he was skinny and if Joey with an injured harmstring can KD him, lol.. NiGe2011 04-25-2005, 01:01 AM I hope now that Bosante's leg is hurt that he will have to bounce from the show and Ishe will get to come back. I was really hoping that they were gonna throw Anthony in the ring tonight, especially with Jesse or somebody who has a little power! Lol999 04-25-2005, 11:23 AM Slipx, I'm not idolising Micheal Caine, although he's made some class films as well as some stinkers, but Jack Carter. Proper northern lad taking no bollocks, or prisoners. And then getting a bullet in the head ;) Lol :D realheavyhands 04-25-2005, 11:35 AM manfredo has no power he was just raised into boxing |
