Just announced for the interim WBC title: Hasim Rahman vs. Monte Barrett, July 23rd!!! All 4 title holders will be from the good old U S of A after this fight, I'll take Rahman with a highlight reel KO in the late rounds....

yeah I know, he'll have to beat Vitali to become the full-time title-holder, but with Rahman as interim champ, Don King gets to pull more strings, and Quitali will have virtually no chance of winning back the gory green strap if that's the case

I say Barrett upset the Rock with a late round stoppage or comfortable decesion.

Early Happy B-Day Rippuh, you're truly a savage on this site.....treat yourself with a ticket 2 the fight, bet on Rahman to pay for the trip! You know Don King will put 2gether a sweet undercard so the trip would be worth it (i'm guessing it'll be at MSG)

yes but Quitali's back surgery delayed his return until at least September, so my man Don King pulled his magical strings and made this fight for the interim title

You know what's funny about this?

Remember all the work & trouble it took for them to get Rahman to sign to fight Klitschko? They had to beg & plead & kiss his ass to get him to sign to fight the legitimate heavyweight champion of the world.
But to meet Barrett, all they had to do was offer a little cash & the prospect of winning an illigitimate green strap...

With Rahman it's not about the prestige of proving that he's the best or the opportunity to once again become THE heavyweight champ. It's all about the $$$ & the path of least resistance to another plastic belt. It doesn't really matter to him which one it is either. He's ****ing shameless. :o

I hope like hell that Monte Barrett rises to the occassion & beats the hell out of Rahman. He deserves a taste of the title after the long tough road he's taken.
Rahman? He's had his taste. And he already had his second chance against John Ruiz & he elected to blow it by electing not to fight that night. To hell with him.
The fact that a handful of easy wins over some rediculously over-matched opposition got him the #1 spot is a disgrace in my book. I plan on being Monte Barrett's biggest fan come July 23rd!

please remember that Don King calls the shots for Rahman, "they" had to beg and plead to DK, not Rahman, to get the fight signed....

Rahman's path of least resistance led to 5 fights last year, all victories, in order to get his confidence back and to get him back into fighting shape....

you're right, it is all about the $$ for Hasim, becuase he's ALREADY been king of the world for 7 of the best months of his life....

I can't blame anybody for rooting against The Rock, but the guy is only doing what his bombastic promoter wants him to do, and their both making good scratch for their actions

I'll take Rahman via a savage beating over a never was Barrett. When he comes to fight, watch out! Against someone like Barrett with a weak punch and a weaker chin, Rahman's gonna run through Barrett like a freight train lol

great oppurtunity for both but if rahman doesnt come in fat he should win by mid round KO. barret has a good chance if he fights like he did against beck

Good post, when Rahman has his "A-Game" he's one of the best heavyweights of this or any generation, and a motivated Rahman should demolish Barrett

When was the last time he brought his A-Game to a fight? I'm going with Barrett by decision.

Rahman last brought his A-game to a fight....in November vs. Kali Meehan, he also had his A-game in his rematch vs. Tua (knocked Tua down in rd. 12 with a freakin JAB), when The Rock is on, he's one of the best on the planet

Kali Meehan is trash. Danny Williams KO'd him in 32 seconds. And who hasn't outboxed Tua recently? The only differene was that Rahman had a good enough chin to last all 12 rounds with him. Tua was off balance and it was after the round was over, don't get too carried away.

I think this fight will be more competitive than Rahman v’s Vitali as the Vitali fight will be completely one sided affair.

I'm speechless! (almost) :D

I think that when a fight of this caliber is supposed to be a cause for excitement it is a sad day for the division.
My birthday is the 26th and if this was on free T.V. I might opt for televised bowling.

If Rahman beats Barrett, being the interim champ he will get a bigger purse against VK. Apparently the Rock pretty confident that he can beat Barrett.
