Several actors have portayed the role of a Police Officer on films. Here's some of the most famous ones:

CLINT EASTWOOD - Dirty Harry series

BRUCE WILLIS - Die Hard series

MEL GIBSON - Lethal Weapon series

SYLVESTER STALLONE - Cop Land, Demolition Man, Tango & Cash, Cobra, Nightawks

HARRISON FORD - Hollywood Homicide, Devil's Own, Witness

DENZEL WASHINGTON - Out Of Time, Training Day

ROBERT DE NIRO - City By The Sea, 15 Minutes

AL PACINO - Heat, Insommia

STEVEN SEAGAL - Above The Law, Out For Justice, Hard To Kill, Exit Wounds

SAMUEL JACKSON - SWAT, Shaft, The Negotiator

And last but not the least (drum rolls...)

JACKY CHAN! - Police Story series, Rush Hour

So who do you think is the best in a cop role?

Clint Eastwood and his Dirty Harry series, like James Bond, still thrills me to see it one more time even if I have seen them a dozen times.

Another favorite of mine is Stallone's Cobra and Nighthawks, and Steven Seagal's earliest cop film, Above The Law.

Jacky Chan's New Police Story is unlike any of its predecessors: in addition to the usual actions, it showcases Jacky's DRAMATIC skills!

Samuel jackson's Shaft is very much different than Richard Roundtree's original version, but both are classics. The Shaft theme by Isaac Hayes was multi-awardee (Academy, Grammy, and in several categories!)

Is your TV stuck on TBS and ****e TV?

Don Johnson and PM Thomas from Miami Vice. Yeah.

Oh, cop movie.

Well...I think Steven Seagal sucks ass in everything. He's nothing but the mafia's ***** now for claiming he used to run with them, hahahaha.

Most cop movies aren't particularly good imo. Ray Liotta did a decent job in Narc I thought. James Woods was good in The Hard Way.

Robocop...the first one was good, but I think I liked it more because of the villains.

Blue Steel with Jamie Lee Curtis and some guy, it was decent.

Copland is probably my favorite cop movie. Nothing like a film showing that cops are corrupt. That is one of Stallone's better roles. Liotta and DeNiro were in it too. And Michael Rappaport. Yeah, Copland. That's the best. Or close enough.

Most of the time :D Actually, what we have here is MOVIE CENTRAL and the SHOWCASE bundle (Action, Scream, diva, encore, etc.) They're movies 24hours a day!

Arnold in "Kindergarten Cop"
Stallone in "Stop! Or my Mom Will shoot!"
Will Smith in "Bad Boys 2"
Keenan Ivory Wayans in "The Glitterman"

Every other performance by any other actor is obviously sub par to these "should be award winners"

Best cop performance - Harvey Keitel in Bad Lieutenant.

Also some others that come to mind:

Gene Hackman in The French Connection
Ethan Hawke in Training Day
Frances McDormand in Fargo
Jack Nicholson in Chinatown

Yeah Chinatown ****ing rocked. Although he wasn't really a cop anymore, was a private eye.

I liked Ahhhhnold's RED HEAT where he played a Russian cop (!) and paired with James Belushi who played a crazy Chicago cop.

Charles Bronson's Family Of Cops is great. Oooops, it's a TV series, but it's still a MOVIE, only it was on TV!

Nightwatch was good. Oh man. I mean, yeah, it was a little obvious. Josh Brolin was a little overly creepy, but that's Mr. Sterling for you. It is definitely no accident that this Goonie's show got cancelled. Can't stand him.
