View Full Version : Rampage/Shogun
Tha Playa 04-21-2005, 01:28 PM I'm really looking forward to this fight. It should be very entertaning stand up battle. I think shogun is a younger Silva clone. I think he attacks Rampage early, lands a few clean blows which shake Rampage where then he goes in for the TKO. Just don't think Quinton has his mind/heart right for the elite competition anymore.
Curly 04-21-2005, 01:33 PM I agree, I think Shogun has the tools to get the job done depending on which Vitor... I mean Jackson shows up.
Mr. Beelzebub 04-21-2005, 01:42 PM Jesus has taken the heart of another fighter.
Shogun by TKO Round 2
Jackson loses to the greatest LHW in the world, and goes to decision with another great LHW on 2weeks notice, and he has no heart? What the **** are you smoking? Jackson by TKO round 2, via GnP.....
Mr. Beelzebub 04-21-2005, 02:31 PM I never said he has no heart. It just seems that everysingle "newborn" fighter loses a little of focus.
Just look at Vitor and Rampage.
I'm still not seeing how Rampage lost focus. He gave Vanderlei all he could handle before the KO, and he took a fight on short notice against Ninja. Are you forgetting that Vanderlei is a christian to? He sure hasn't lost his focus.....

Silva has always been a Christian. Rampage is a "Newborn" Christian.
I think "Ninja" beat him, and Shogun is bigger and stronger than Ninja.
Jackson commented in past interviews that he thinks God wanted him to lose to Silva, that is was a test... I think that is delirious thiking, I really don't think God bets in fights.

I agreed with the decision in the Ninja fight, but remember, he took the fight on short notice, he didnt lose focus, he was just unprepaired for the fight. I dont believe in god, but I just cant understand why people are claiming Rampage doesnt have a heart anymore when there is absolutly no proof of that....
Tha Playa 04-21-2005, 03:26 PM There is no concrete proof. It just seems that way after his last few fights. I don't know if god or Silva took his fighting spirit, but IMO he has not looked like his old self the last few figths. I sse him getting in the ring with a focused Shogun and I think the resilt will be much the same as the previous Silva fights.
joeboxer 04-21-2005, 03:31 PM Rampage is definitly going to come in to this one ready for a fight. He will be ready to put on the trucks and go into the ring and then fight there with somebody. The referree better watch out because he will be in the ring with a fighter or possibly two fighters.
I think that teaching Bunny rabbits Mai Thai and also drinking Mai Thai's will be an important part of the training that Rampage has that possibly the other fighter will not have.
This definitly will gibe him the edge, in terms of bunny rabbits.
Mr. Beelzebub 04-21-2005, 03:41 PM This fight is a toss up. Rampage can beat anybody at any given day... I wouldn't be surprised if Rampage KOs Shogun in under a minute, but something tells me that Rua is gonna take it.
Tha Playa 04-21-2005, 04:01 PM If he hasn't found out a way to defend the knees from the thai clinch his ass is grass.

His last few fights? You mean when he ****ed up Minowa at Shockwave? When he KOed Ricardo Arona? When he had the fight of the year against Silva? Or when he Beat Ninja on short notice?

Minowa- notim not impressed - basically a can in my book
Arona= i perosonally thought he got lucky by the inadvertent head but as a result from the slam, still not impressive
Silva- he still got his ass whooped
Ninja - both looked like crap, and it was a fairly contreversail decision anyway.
Like i said, not impressed. :boxing:
Minowa is a can, the slam Koed Arona, He dropped Silva too, and it was a very competetive fight until the KO, sayin he got his ass whooped is just ignorant. You're just a Rampage hater, and you have absolutly no proof of him being unfocused or weak hearted.....
Tha Playa 04-21-2005, 04:28 PM I'm not a Rampage hater. Yes, I like the Chuteboxe guys, but Quenton is probably my favorite Us fighter. I was very worried about him befroe he fought Silva, but after that, either God or ass whipping from Silve made him lose that:eye of the tiger". You know yourself that he hasn't fought like he did before the Silva fight. I sure wouldn't pick him now vs. Vov after Rampage has already beeaten him. He thought he was the baddest mas, then ran into somebody who took his confidence and heart. He might coninue to beat some people, but he'll never be the same Rampage. Shogun by TKO. I might not watch or study nearly as much MMA as you, becasue I know you know your ****, but I watch plenty myslef, and I am not ignorant to the sport. I have my opinion and you have yours.
I thought he fought very well against Silva, I thought it was a close back and forth fight, with Silva catching him with a hellova right hand that sent him to queer street. The only fight he has had after that was on short notice(how many times have I said that already? LOL). So I'm not seeing where it looks like he lost his fighting spirit or whatnot.....
Tha Playa 04-21-2005, 04:55 PM I guess to bring an end to this, I would say that if you set down and watched an older Rampage figth, he looks much better than he has after he fought Silva. I've never said he sucked or was a can, I just thought that he would consistantly be one of contendes for the belt and now I think he's just moved back to the pack some. Let him come out and kick Shogun's ass and maybe Vitor/Igor, and I will certainly change my tune.
VulgarTheClown 04-21-2005, 05:51 PM listen
I am/was the #1 rampage fan PRE-JESUS.
Jesus didn't take his heart at all. He still has the heart else he woulda laid down after a single good shot form ninja and from Silva.
BUT Jesus took something just as important, his edge. that little bit of blood thurstiness, that mean streak, the desire to hurt your opponent, or as old rampage woulda said "To **** a ***** up" it doesn;t seem ot still be there.
Rampage is still without a doubt one of the best LHW's there are and ontop if it he doesn't just win but he is entertaining as hell. Tho you might not have seen a big slam since Arona its still there, just burried somewhere deep.
i think what it is is with his new christian outlook on life he doens;t want to be seen as brutal or savage in anyway. he wants to look refined and reformed from his old self. Unfortunately his old self was one of the baddest mother ****ers ever.
then again, he does fight in japan and it could be a gimic switch to switch back and make a big boom or on the real conspiracy tip he was proppositioned with an offer too good to refuse to do some works and he said if he was gonna do it he couldn't do it as the old him and would have to do it as someone that could be believed to lose like that.
Mr. Beelzebub 04-21-2005, 05:58 PM The word "THIRSTINESS" does not exist, bird dude. "his blood thirst", that's all.
Other than grammar, you're pretty much on point with your comment.
Wizard 04-21-2005, 07:02 PM Aside from all the talk about his "thirstyness" LOL, I think Rampage can survive standing and maybe dish it to Shogun long enough to get the takedown where he will implement his notorious GnP.
I think we will see a good Rampage this time. I think his fight on short notice against Ninja could have easily gone the other way but that was on short notice and it's the only fight that he didn't perform well in if you ask me. When he fought Silva the second time he had him mounted good and if the first rd didn't end Silva would have absorbed alot of punishment and the fight would have gone in Rampages favor.
mmafanman 04-21-2005, 07:37 PM If the Rampage that made Chuck squeal like a pig, knocked the snot out of Randleman's nose, and robbed Igor of his pain threshold shows up against Shogun, he'll be fathering a Brazilian baby after the GP is over.
Shaolin Bushido 04-23-2005, 12:51 PM Jesus has taken the heart of another fighter.
Shogun by TKO Round 2
I don't know but I really believe "old" Rampage would have whooped his ass. I ain't dissin Shogun intentionally but I never saw him as a ****in beast like Jackson used to be with few exceptions.
Mr. Beelzebub 04-24-2005, 08:21 PM I'm still not seeing how Rampage lost focus. He gave Vanderlei all he could handle before the KO, and he took a fight on short notice against Ninja. Are you forgetting that Vanderlei is a christian to? He sure hasn't lost his focus.....
Hola! ___________
I hate how every time a good fighter loses people think he is done, that's pathetic....
Mr. Beelzebub 04-24-2005, 08:35 PM You're once again putting words in my mouth, sir. I have never said that he was done or that he didn't have heart anymore.
All I said was that it seems that after "finding God" he has lost a little bit of focus. Rampage is still a great fighter, but all these recent loses have and are affecting his confidence.
Curly 04-24-2005, 09:45 PM I still think his problem is training with the same guys. Oyama is good, but if you keep getting beat the same way it's time to move on. Plus training with new people usually will get you motivated again.
VulgarTheClown 04-25-2005, 12:17 AM rampage needs 1 day clicn htraining with arron riley he will be out of that **** w/ no prob.
Aaron OWNS the clinch
The funny thing is, Oyama got into MMA when Tito hired him to teach him how to defend the clinch against Silva....
Wizard 04-25-2005, 01:11 AM Sort of ironic, I don't think Silva was as developed at the time.
Of course he wasnt that was like 5 years ago....
Mr. Beelzebub 04-25-2005, 12:45 PM You know, after watching the match again last night I have to say:
- Rampage is a ****ing warrior, heart of a lion. It seems that he bruised or even broken one or omre ribs in the first clinch, and kept going.
- He motioned to Oyama and yelled at him: "My ribs" hoping that he was going to throw in the towel, but Oyama didn't do that and let his fighter get extra unnecessary punishment knowing that Rampage was hurt.
- Shogun seemed to hold down and didn't go 100% on the final soccer kicks. A ****ing gentleman.
- Rampage could have tapped, but chose to get dropped... A ****ing warrior.
I had bruised ribs before I had literally tear in my eyes everytime I would move...
That's all, ladies.
mmafanman 04-25-2005, 01:10 PM If the Rampage that made Chuck squeal like a pig, knocked the snot out of Randleman's nose, and robbed Igor of his pain threshold shows up against Shogun, he'll be fathering a Brazilian baby after the GP is over.
Self ownage of the highest degree
Scarface 04-27-2005, 04:02 AM I hope rampage can come back.
