View Full Version : Trinidad and Wright to weigh in on same day as fight
Super_Lightweight 04-20-2005, 12:53 PM This is very interesting. I think it favors Wright to weigh in on the same day as they are fighting. Tito is the true middleweight and he could suffer from dehydration, whereas Winky would probably weigh the same whether it was the day before or not since he is a 154 lber. I don't know how much this will affect the fight though. One can never tell. Thoughts?
Honestly Im not sure how this affects anything but I hope it doesnt.
Exciterx24 04-20-2005, 02:34 PM Regardless, Winky will win. A trip to the hospital that is.
borikua 04-20-2005, 03:18 PM hmmm, why are they doing it like this?
jack_the_rippuh 04-20-2005, 03:20 PM Trinidad is afraid..
Trinidad is afraid..

abdiel2k3 04-20-2005, 03:24 PM pretty interesting
was it decided by the fighters or by a commision or somethin
interesting indeed
if no one gets hurt from like havin starved themself
we should see an interesting new trend
Zab Super Judah 04-20-2005, 03:24 PM why are they doing this? it really is unfair because they always weigh in the day before....and give boxers time to recover
borikua 04-20-2005, 03:25 PM Does anyone knows if this has been done b4?
jack_the_rippuh 04-20-2005, 03:36 PM U wish kiddo

Trinidad is afraid...he can't stop having Winky nightmares, and the ghost of the Hopkins fight is coming back to haunt him. Did you see the interview on the spanish channel?
LMAO anybody that thinks tito is afraid obviously doesnt know **** about anything.
Kid stop wishing.....**** gets u nowhere
Please dont be a ***** and make excuses the day your boy gets put on his ass.
where did this information originate from, can this info be substantiated?
Exciterx24 04-20-2005, 03:47 PM Wright knows that he won't win. Did any of you guys read what Fernando Vargas said about this fight? He said that Trinidad is way too strong and that Winky has nothing to stop Trinidad.

yeah, sign me up dude. that vargas article i read on maxboxing a while back - if we're talking about the same one. vargas was a little p'd that winky says that hes not looking for vargas and vargas, being the diplomat that he is, just referred to the whole latin market share and that he'd be a nobody unless he beat a latin great and theres no way he could do it against tito. i think vargas' opinion had more to do w/ him being pissed at what winky said about him.

Sure, Vargas tasted the best of both fighters.

It was an interview after the fight with Joval. I read it about two days after that.
If you want in, all you have to do is get a Boricua Organization signature and join my lounge.

Go to member lounges and choose join. The options will appear there. For the signature, go to user cp and choose edit signature. Then all you got to do is write your name if you want to and Boricua Organization. Remember to use bold letters. It looks better.
Kenny Blankenship 04-20-2005, 07:36 PM Weighing in the day of the fight is how every fight should be done. There's nothing I hate more than seeing two guys fighting for a title at a certain weight class come into the ring weighing 10-15 lbs more. It makes no sense. The fighters should be weighed in as close to fight time as possible, maybe 30 minutes or so before the fight.
I hate that some guys starve themselves to make weight then pack on 15 lbs for the fight to try and gain an advantage, it's ridiculous. Guys should be fighting at their natural weights. Some of these guys are all skin and bones at the weigh ins, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that the weight they are weighin in at isn't a natural weight for them OR even a fighting weight for them, they pack on the pounds as soon as they get off the scales.
I'd much rather see them weigh in about 30 minutes before a fight.
MlLkMan 04-20-2005, 07:57 PM hmmm, why are they doing it like this?
I know, new rules?
AintGottaClue 04-20-2005, 08:48 PM this sounds liek an excuss in the brewing for tito if he loses
Zab Super Judah 04-20-2005, 10:43 PM weighing in the same day is definitely an advantage for winky
Exciterx24 04-20-2005, 10:50 PM weighing in the same day is definitely an advantage for winky
Anyway, Trinidad is not like Cotto. Miguel really puts a lot of weight in just a day. Trinidad put like 9 for the Mayorga fight. I don't know about Wright.
Tha Greatest 04-21-2005, 01:58 AM I think it's fair to do it, it teaches fighters discipline...
Tito doesnt really come much over weight though
they need this for Gatti, Cotto, Corrales, etc.
