I came across this earlier and I wanted to share it with you, seeing that this is quite interesting.

If this isn’t an indication of how influential the late Tupac Shakur, and his music, is … and was, then what is?

A song from the late rapper’s catalog was recently included as part of the Vatican’s official MySpace Music playlist.

According to CNN, the seat of the Catholic Church released a list of 12 songs onto the social networking website’s streaming music service this week when the site launched in the United Kingdom. Tupac’s single, “Changes”, was one of the tracks, alongside selections from Mozart, Muse and Dame Shirley Bassey.

“The genres are very different from each other, but all these artists share the aim to reach the heart of good minded people,” the Vatican wrote on it’s official MySpace Music page (MySpace.com/MusicFromTheVatican).

As of Friday night (December 4), “Changes” had been played more than 4.7 million times on the site. Reports indicate that the list was compiled by Father Giulio Neroni, artistic director of church publisher St Paul’s Multimedia. He was also responsible for compiling the Vatican’s recent Alma Mater album, which combined Gregorian chants and prayers with classical music and the voice of Pope Benedict XVI speaking in five languages.

More than a decade after his death, Tupac’s music continues to influence the world.”
