I've got a freestanding punchbag and Ive had it for a pretty long time but recently Ive been thinking of buying a hanging heavy bag and putting it in the back garden as there is no space in the house.

Just wondering if this is a bad idea or not? I was thinking of just throwing a cover over it after each session to protect it from the elements (rain mostly), will it be ok outdoors or will it degrade much faster then usual?

4 some reason, this idea doesn't sound like healthy boxing exercise...

joe louis had a punching bag hanging from an oak tree behind his house, as long as u go out there and actually punch it its a good idea...my neighbor has a speed bag hanging up behind his shed, rotting away. no one has ever punched it from what i can tell, i think one of these days i'll ask him if i can hang it up in my garage, i'll punch it
